thewatchman Posted March 1 Posted March 1 The original leak said it was basically the same as the previous creator ship but with a lower part count. I don’t think anyone’s expectations should be a high on this one. Quote
Franco Clarke Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Might get some new figures or at least some recent ones return to production, which would be nice. Quote
Elephant Knight Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Good or bad, I always like new pirate ships. But I definitely get more excited when its good as opposed to bad. Eknight Quote
RichardGoring Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Photos are now out on Reddit. It looks pretty good. My first thought was that it's the same as the recent Creator pirate ship, but it's different. I think a couple of new torsos and legs. Brick-built giant squid/kraken is fun. The alt builds (two small boats or a lookout tower and hideout) both seem good. Very impressed. I wonder how much it will cost. Quote
F1stzz Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Downgrade across the board outside of the minifigures amount (so far torso prints are giving off the amusement park feel, new print on the bicorne is welcomed), which was totally expected given the rumoured piece count. If this one's gonna be $100 – nah, previous one was head & shoulders above design-wise. The alt builds are cute tho, won't be surprised if they turn out to be actually better thought out than main for the price. Quote
zinnn Posted April 19 Posted April 19 tbh I don't care about the ship, I won't buy this - but I will DEFINITELY get those new torsos and legs - they look amazing! so bummed about the red bandana, they really should recolour this piece Quote
Franco Clarke Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Good to have another ship on shelves, but feels very similar to the previous one, not sure it's worth having both. Quote
eldiano Posted April 19 Posted April 19 This is the first time I’m not displaying the main build, those mini ships will perfectly fit the el dorado’s back ground! Amazing. Those torsos are masterpieces! Quote
kuzyabricks Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Great torsos but the build is so poor. Wow what a downgrade! Quote
Elephant Knight Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I seem to be in a minority in that I think I may actually like this a bit more than the previous. I thought the first one was too colourful, this one is a lot more muted. 4 figs vs 3 and a skeleton is preferred, and they do look great! When I actually have it built in hand I will know for sure which I like more, but for now, I am kinda leaning towards this new one. Quote
karrit Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I really like the alternate builds for this one. I have the alternate build Inn built from the previous one as I didn't like the way the brick built sails looked on the Pirate ship. Quote

This one still has a skeleton, the main thing I see different is they scaled it all down, top sails went from 16 to 12 studs wide, lower ones don't have the curve panels so they lose a bit of height, the whole thing's a little smaller in actual dimensions. Still pretty big for play purposes, just a little less in every dimension than the old one. Using those ropes with handles for the rigging is a nice upgrade for posing figures on it, too. R0Sch Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Poor LEGO needs to downsize everything to survive the harsh economy. I'm surprised they included two cannons. Probably just because of the alt build. Quote

Siroco Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Didn't bought the previous one and this is even worse. I don't like brick build sails nor the 3in1 concept, it implies to many compromises and in the end we get 3 mediocre choices. Rather have one good set and leave to each ones imagination the buildind of alternative models. Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted April 20 Posted April 20 I think the ship looks okay, even good, for what it is. Like others I'd prefer fabric sails. The red kraken looks great though! I'll probably only get the two pirate torsos that work for fleshies too from PAB. It looks that the female pirate that wears the vest has some yellow spots next to the medaillon - too bad! I also have to get the wooden peg leg. When I ordered the part some time ago it was only available with a metallic grey peg leg. Quote
GeoBrick Posted April 20 Posted April 20 So, minifig-wise, do we get three new torso prints on this one? I'm not sure the female with the red vest is a new print. Also, do my eyes deceive me or is there some kind of print on her dark blue pants? And the sailor's dual-colored legs, are those new as well? Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted April 20 Posted April 20 (edited) It indeed looks like she is wearing some kind of cloth piece around the hips! [Edited my double post into a legit one haha ] Edited April 20 by Yperio_Bricks Quote
Black Falcon Posted April 20 Posted April 20 All three builds look great to me, as others mentioned the red kraken is very neat. Also like the idea to build two smaller ships, so two kids could play seafight with the set. 7 hours ago, R0Sch said: Poor LEGO needs to downsize everything to survive the harsh economy. Jiesdeo Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Really nice torsos! This is a must get for me, mainly to support more pirates stuff. Is this the first time we've gotten black pennants by the way? I would really like to get white pennants again at some time. Quote
Retrocity Posted April 21 Posted April 21 The ship is fine, I’ll likely try to get it on sale at some point. I think it’s fair to wait for more pictures for a full assessment. I’d like to see what the cabin looks like. I also really like the kraken build. I feel like a teal/green version is needed for the Kraken knights (hopefully all the parts exist in those colors). I also agree that the alternate builds look good, potentially better than the main build. The two small sloops will look nice mixed in with some other bigger ships, maybe add a cloth sail to each. Like the new castle, I’m much happier to deal with a smaller part count if the tradeoff is new minifigure parts. New torsos/legs aren’t really coming in other sets at the moment unless you are going 3rd party. It’s easier to add on to the ship, understanding the likely increased cost of the ship and the cost to buy additional parts if you don’t have them on hand. Off initial glance, the captain’s torso looks like it could work for an imperial as well. Quote

Khargeust Posted April 21 Posted April 21 (edited) I'm excited for this new upcoming set. I didn't get the precedent Creator 3 in 1 pirate ship, I found it poor and badly colourful. But this one is much more my taste, I'll get it for sure. The alt builds are better and the minifigurines are top-tier. Edited April 21 by Khargeust Quote
SBCMayor Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I’ll definitely give this set a long look. I love the two small sloops and may get it so I can get the trading company I’ve been wanting to establish up and running. But that kraken looks pretty cool too. Quote
