Don't even understand what you mean with that, but then again its probably my poor english. Are you trying to say that pirates, imperials anda armada where more "thoughtfully" portrayed than islanders? I'm using pirates theme because its the one I love.

So where the Pirates, the Imperials and the Armada! I don't think TLG will bring back the islanders, but if they do you can allways, in your kind words, stop your hobby.

Don't we all? Problem is, the definition of fabulous is a very personal one. Besides, if I only bought minifigs that, imo, where "fabulous" I wouldn't have much of a collection, so I setlle with "good".

They aren't needless! Pirates used to walk around half naked, see the great Tatooga torso! There is is room for everything, not all torsos need to be multi purpose, not all minifigs need to be warriors.

Thats what I thought, but since islanders are taboo (no pun intended) maybe civilians instead, merchants, wenchs, governors daughter etc.

Agreed! That would be my first choice, but I don't know if they are as popular in America as they are in Japan and Europe and that may influence TLG choices.

True, Interstellar Spaceship is a beautiful modernized version of 918 Space Transport full of printed pieces (and no stickers!) at a fair price. Call it City, Space, whatever, its Sci-Fi and I love it!

I meant to say castle and space, stupid me forgot to write "space"... Btw, the knight torsos are, or were, also at PAB.

Interesting fact, a quick Bricklink search for the Vending Machine minifigs revealed that the space and knight ones are way more expensive than the pirate ones (the others are worthless). Does this means that there are more castle and fans than pirates? Or just that they tend to army build much more than us? Speaking for myself I prefer diversity and usually just buy one or two more to populate the BSB and the bay. (ex. Cecília (aka cmf20 pirate girl, the orange BaM pirate etc.)
