The Spire's Toll - Challenge 1A

Recommended Posts

indexed.gif

The Black Spire has tasked brothers Rokkar and Korrak with controling the trade routes through the Rakath Mountians. With the help of their giant raven mounts, they keep close watch over the mountain passes and only allow their allys safe passage. Below Rokkar is seen intercepting a Kazzar Tribe's caravan and is inforcing their strict "no Nocturnus" policy.

Beautiful! I love the cliff and raven, as well as the posing. But aren't category A entry's supposed to be 16x16 or smaller?

Thank you! Yes, the stud count is equal to that of a 16x16. I was under the impression that we could change the shape if the stud count remained the same.

Awesome Torgar! I love the Raven, but it stole the show from the great landscape as well.

+1 to all UoP

That raven looks fantastic! Great use of the new chima pieces for his wings  The path also looks very good and your rockwork technique is very interesting, I don't think I've seen anyone else do it this way before.

Tilting the slopes forward a bit, but not 90 degrees gives a very neat effect :classic:

I did not know that the Black Spire commanded such fierce creatures, great to see this addition to its forces! The cliff looks wonderful as well, I really like the subtle addition of leaning parts in the cliffs :classic:

UoP +1.

Thanks mrcp6d!

amazing job... well thought

Thanks, when I read the category I imedeatly knew what I wanted to do.

That is a great looking creation, I love the winding path and the big bird is impressive!

Thanks! I've wanted to try building a brick-built creature for a while now.

Another great entry! Love the raven, and the rock work/landscaping is great again! Those poor Kazzar.

Thanks LV! I like to think some of the Kazzar made it out alive  (I want to use some in the next challenges if they fit)

Thanks SK! I havent seen anyone use the rock technique before, though I'm sure its been used. I discovered it by accident while doing the rockwork for the ravens aerie, and I really liked the effect it had.

UoP +1.

Thanks Gideon! For the glory of the Black Spire!

Another incredible creation! The raven is fantastic. Can the same person win both categories?

Thanks janatale!

Very nicely done, with the posing and the rocks. Interesting approach to the space limit.

Thanks Hammer! I tried to make the most of the space. It was tricky coming up with a base shape that mirrored the shape of the raven (I built the raven first).

Wow! Love the raven! The angled rockwork is perfect! Great job! :classic:

Thanks Infernum!

I'm really enjoying this "tilted" method of making cliff-faces, it really does give a sense of the precariousness of the slope. The mossy patches on the rock look great too. But of course the highlight of the build is that magnificent bird swooping in for the kill - some superb shaping and textures in there! UoP +1 for all claims.
