Today I have a small little build (about 40 pieces) of the Imperial Probe Droid, as seen in Episode V. Its features include a rotating head and movable arms. When I was designing this I tried to make it more screen accurate than LEGO's renditions that we've seen in years past. Comments or criticisms are welcome and encouraged!

Strandbeest is designed by Theodorus Gerardus Jozef who is a great Dutch artist. Today I make my droid with Strandbeest's legs. Each leg in this contraption has 11 movable rods and 2 fixed rods which form 8 joints. Camellia Servo Strandbeest droid model is controlled by CAPPUCCINO controller with ARM technology. Each body part of this droid has an individual LEGO motor to drive its moving speed, distance, time and direction. As 8 LEGO motors are used, droid's head, body, left leg, right leg, left arm, right arm, left hand and right hand are able to be controlled cooperatively! For my latest MOC I decided to create the Arc Hammer, which was the large Imperial vessel featured in the Dark Forces video game way back in 1995. The Arc Hammer served as a production facility for the Dark Troopers. They were sort of a cross between droids and super soldiers. The Arc Hammer was also seen in the strategy game Empire at War. Destroyer Droids have been curiously inaccurate in the way they have been portrayed in LEGO sets. Specifically, the weapon arms are attached in the wrong place, which I feel removes some of the menace of these rapid-rolling, Republic-resistant droids. Originally. LEGO had their blasters mounted on the droids' bases: The 'actual' droids had their blasters mounted on arms emerging from their shoulders (link to Google image search), which I sought to recreate. Various arm iterations were required to not only mount the weapons in the correct place but to correct the other crucial problem with the original, namely that the blasters could only be pointed off into space, not aimed at anything at ground-level. After a lot of clipping, I finally found a solution that captured the look to my liking: The blaster-pairs aren't horizontal, as in the films, but this was a compromise I was willing to settle for. Arms done, the body needed just a little work and the intimidation grew: This is getting much closer to the droid I'm looking for: It even rolls better: After completing these improvements, I went looking for other people's work on these wonderful droids and particularly like the work done to extend the brown curve around the droid's back, further enhancing their accuracy. Having said that, many of the modified droids still suffer from not being able to aim the blasters in three planes. One thing that isn't widely used, and which I did particularly want to keep, was LEGO's use of the two barrel pistol/binocular combo. It was introduced way back in 2011 for Alien Conquest as the ADU weapon-of-choice (the theme closest to my heart, despite them being no match for Droidekas) so it is a shame that it didn't find its way into the 'hands' of Star Wars' Destroyers until 2015's 75092. This is my MOC of the Separatist AAT from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It features a moveable turret and seating for one battle droid.

I had actually built these over a year ago, but it just hit me today that I never posted them online. I was aiming to find a balance between something that's close to minifig scale, albeit without sacrificing detail and functionality. It was the advent of part 26047 Plate, Modified 1 x 1 Rounded with Handle that enabled me to build these so that the front legs can rotate inward when switching to the rolling mode. I have six completed droidekas that I decided to pose at different angles alongside a B1 and B2 battle droid for reference. I will provide a parts list and breakdown if requested.

So I went and made my own version of battle packs relating to the Sith and Jedi, sense I think those two would be good for those who want to recreate the battle in the Jedi Temple from the old republic or anything that a person need to build a army of Sith or Jedi for. Sith Battle Pack 98 pieces (minifigure 20 pieces, weapon 10 pieces, speeder 64 pieces and 4 studs) 4 minifigures (2 sith apprentice, 1 sith master and 1 sith lord (Sith Pureblood)) Model: “Now here’s the most original thing for a battle pack… a speeder” Do to the sith having lightsabers (though this pack could be the first outside of the superhero theme to have the super jumper), it’s best for the model to at least have stud shooter. While pretty much no one care about the model in battle packs and only want minifigures for army building, I wanted this battle pack to be different of having contraction parts which I think gave off a good shape for the speeder of using those 3 ultrabuild pieces though I wouldn't say the same with the tip of using those Exo-Force arms and small claw. With the use of these parts, the wings and front parts can move to find some sort of way to pose it. Jedi Battlepack 106 pieces (minifigure 20 pieses, weapon 8 pieces, Dwarf Spider Droid 39 (x2 78)) 4 minifigures (Jedi Master, 2 Jedi Knights, Padawan) Model: After I made a Sith battle pack a few months back, it would make sense for me to make a Jedi Battle Pack. But instead of a speeder for them, it’s an enemy model of the Dwarf Spider Droid, but instead of having a stud shooter, it have the ‘Power Blast’ piece that mostly been used in the Superhero theme. The head of the droid can turn, but not a full 360 do to the legs. Speaking the the legs, originally they were going to be hinge pieces, but they didn’t work so I went with the Exo-Force Arms that was used in the 2008 Dwarf Spider Droid (set 7670). Do to the size of them compare to other battle pack model, looking too small and may cost lesser than $10. So instead of building a different model, this would have 2 of them that can build up someone droid army with some Dwarf Spider Droids.

I would like to show you my very first MOC I made after the end of my personal dark ages. Sadly my children wouldn't let me their Lego bricks, so I had to work with my small collection (I need to go to my parent's attic real badly in the near future). This is my imperial Probe droid, which has been shot by Han Solo on Hoth in episode V. I have seen others, after I finished mine, but I like this one better. I have been inspired by the one from the Lego star wars magazine, but my version has the correct amount of probe arms and uses different angles. What are your thoughts? This is my entry to the Brickset 2016 Star Wars competition where you had to design a set based on a specific scene that hasn't been represented yet. Anakin, Padme, R2-D2 and C-3PO have infiltrated the Separatist droid foundry on Geonosis and are ambushed by the Geonosians! Pull the pins to shut the door and drop the heroes onto the conveyor belt. Turn the wheel to move the conveyor belts and help them escape through the assembly line! Watch out for swinging robot arms, stomping presses, and chopping blades! Use the swiveling robot arm to assemble the droids. C-3PO has lost his head! Attach R2-D2's rocket boosters and turn the knob on the tower to have him fly to the rescue! Rearrange the assembly modules to create your own foundry layout. Includes Anakin Skywalker, Padme, R2-D2, C-3PO, one Geonosian with stud shooter, and 4 battle droids. This ship is called the Emerald Bulldog, and was built as a armed cargo freighter. The ship is named as such because it is painted dark green, and fights like a bulldog: once it gets going it just won't stop. The vessel has rotating engine pods, which fold down for landing and up for flying. It also has five opening doors to allow for cargo and crew to be placed inside. The ship is protected by four forward-facing laser canons, thus giving it the 'armed' designation. In reality, this ship is a MOD of set 7930 (Bounty Hunter assault Gunship). I added a cargo compartment and revised the color-scheme in some places. The mini-figures are a mash-up of parts from several themes, including Star Wars, Scooby-Doo, the LEGO Movie, Jurassic World, and DC Comics. Here we see the ship with the engine pods in 'flight' formation. The very top the ship features a sliding portion to allow for the engine to rotate in unison for either flight or landing. The rear of the ship. The cockpit canopy, left and right crew sections, both sides of the cargo area, and the rear access hatch all open up for placing of figures and cargo. The name of the pilot / owner of the Emerald Bulldog is Sam Rift. His main helper is the android D0-C (or 'Doc', as he is sometimes called) These two are almost inseparable, and if you see one the other isn't too far behind. My intention was to leave as much humanly features as possible, overlaying them with the sheer inhumanity of modern toys and games. A worm drive is a gear arrangement in which a worm (screw) meshes with a worm gear (aspur gear). A worm drive can reduce rotational speed or transmithigher torque. One of the major advantages of worm gear drive units are that they can transfer motion in 90 degrees. The gear ratio is: 1 to teeth of the worm wheel The direction of transmission is not reversible due to the greater friction involved between the worm and worm-wheel. Worm gear configurations in which the gear cannot drive the worm are called self-locking. Hi all! Recently I cooked up something unusual. What happens when you put together the new and the old? Pieces and ideas, that is? I have never owned any of the droids or even been into Space sets and whatnot, so wasn't infatuated with these three classic buggers until I picked them up very recently. I also own UFO droids, but those aren't as charismatic or distinctive. By combining mostly vintage Lego pieces and sneaking in a few new ones, I made a custom "VHS" trio complete with printed stands to resemble the CMF series. One thing to note: times have changed, and so has the trio's purpose... First: the white Exploriens Droid. Enemies will not be walking - heavy hammer does the talking! Second: Insectoids Droid. The menacing cannon's electromagnetic, the enemies better be very athletic! Third: Spyrius Droid. Tracking foes with recon bot, slashing them with plasma sword! That's it, folks! Weaponizing the trio was not my aim, but it just so happened that everything fell into place this way. Cheers, and comments are welcome!

My latest build: Steve Roger Rogers, improbable crossover between a BI Battle droid and the famous Captain America. Which version do you prefer ? Light or dark ? Marvel or Star Wars? Round shield or vintage shield? Steve Roger Rogers by Veynom, on Flickr After seeing a couple of weeks ago a meme about this, and remembering some cool instructions to make battle droids, I decided to build the meme with bricks. I started with the light blue version, as more bricks are easily available in that color and it was therefore easier. Steve Roger Rogers by Veynom, on Flickr The shield was the real challenge and required quite a few trials and errors. At first, I did not want the easy solution of the pre-print shield from Lego. Besides, when I finally got it, I realised the colors were not matching. I tried multiple brickbuild versions but macaroni tiles do not exist in the needed colors and size. Ultimately, I remembered that Cap also used a different shield shape in the early era. So I built that one instead and loved it. Note that one of my shield attempts resulted in the small grey socles. Not everything was lost in the end. I played a bit more with the colors by swapping bricks here and there but in the end, it also looks cool. Steve Roger Rogers by Veynom, on Flickr A few words about the markings: The "A" on the head, and the horizontal lines come from a very old dry transfer sheet from Verling (people who did scale modeling in the 90s should remember). The 3 stars on the old shield and the star on the torse of the dark blue version are cut in a simple white sticker. The 1x1 round tile and the round shield are printed bricks from TLC. This Steam Droid is equipped with a electrical canon and a claw. The Iron Gnomes created this kind of droids to protect their colony and allies. The Iron Gnomes are well known engineers, creating powerfull steam-powered machinery for several use cases.
