Activity- Exploration. Location- A05 Yallorn II Previously, Mark of Orion had helped in the occupation of Barnius and was disgruntled with his task of constructing a "very complex" sensor array... After complaining explaining to his superior officer, Second Branch Executive Ninja Nin, that he was more interested in exploring than assembling equipment, Mark was given a different mission on MANTIS' next target, Yallorn II. Mark was very pleased with the change of position, now he was free to wander around and explore an entirely new planet! Yallorn II was a particularly interesting place. Mark had decided to explore the southern sector along the coast. To his surprise, the normal earth tones of the soil gave way to mud of a deep blue color with small plateaus of clay on which vegetation abounded. Mark deduced that the tide was out, and the foliage in this vicinity was not capable of growing below the waterline. Mark's peaceful walk was interrupted by by his radio ringtone... "Mark here, what's up?" "Hey Mark, this is John." "Hey John! How's the view in your sector?" "Pretty good, But that's not why I'm calling..." "Oh?" "Yeah, my scanner says my area is clear, but that there is some unidentified lifeform activity near you. See anything?" Mark took a quick look around. "I don't see anything near, maybe there's something underground... I can see there being clams or something in this mud?" "Heh, probably nothing serious, just thought I'd call and check." "All right, much appreciated, John!" "Okay, see ya later!" "Later! Bye!" (Click) After hanging up with his co-worker, Mark reflected on the dangers of being too absorbed in the scenery. "Hmm, I should check my scanner more often, something big and ugly could creep up on me without me even knowing!" "The planet description did say "moderate alien activity" and..." The Ghastly Galloping Garctaloid of Yallorn II ! by Mark E., on Flickr Suddenly, Mark looked over his shoulder and realized that a huge alien had snuck up behind him!! "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!" The ferocious alien bellowed and screeched as it galloped towards Mark! "GROGGLAAK!! SKREEEHHKK!! GROGGHLAAKK!!" Mark wasn't about to let himself get gobbled up! He quickly raised his MANTIS death ray blaster and fired into the belly of the beast! The enormous creature screeched out ten times louder than before! But the MANTIS death ray blaster is quite effective on most fleshly beings... The monster collapsed into a pile of squirming dismembered tentacles as it's gnashing mouth slowly stopped chomping in rage. Mark, in a rush of adrenaline and exuberance, dashed towards the dying creature and grabbed one of the limb-like tentacles. "What a monstrous brute! You could've been so useful to MANTIS! To bad there's no stun setting on my death ray blaster..." Mark, still clutching the limb, turned and continued on his exploration. "But all is not lost! I'm sure Big Sal or one of our other scientists will be able to concoct something absolutely terrifying with your DNA sample!" Yes, Mark was beginning to enjoy this exciting job! To Be Continued!

EDIT #2~ Here is my updated Challenge 1 entry! A Desert Butte on Guinevere. 20x20 studs, unedited and no figs. Not exactly superior to my larger scene/story below, but it's the best I could do in 30 minutes! Below is a freebuild based on my previous build, which would not qualify for the challenge (And I do not want to delete it!). Please do not consider it in judging. Begin A06 Freebuild- AG Challenge 1 by Mark E., on Flickr The pristine desert landscape of Guinevere. Only erosion and wind has disturbed these majestic canyons. Until now that is...... When we last left Mark of Orion, he had just jumped from a MANTIS™ dropship onto the surface of Guinevere. Upon contact, the MANTIS™ associates had divided into two teams, one led by Captain Brutus, and the other by Mark. Malcolm strode along with an air of pompous self-importance. "I don't understand why you went back to the ship once you heard we had to split up! What's the deal? Are you afraid of going off on your own?" Mark rolled his eyes. "I don't want to take the risk of walking blind. I had a near-death experience with a 20 foot alien on my last mission and I'm only alive now because a friend of mine was paying attention to the scanner. I'm not so stupid that I can't learn a lesson..." Malcolm grinned like a baked possum. "You were a space pirate or something weren't you?" Mark nodded and continued to scan the rock formations. "Yeah, something like that." Malcolm plodded along after Mark, now oblivious to his surroundings. "You must have not been a very good one if they caught you..." Mark's brow wrinkled. And it was only his solemn duty to MANTIS™ that prevented his teaching insolent Malcolm firsthand the hazardous effects of a certain MANTIS™ Death Ray Blaster© he had strapped to his back. "Avoiding the law is like a marathon, the run is long, but there is a definite end." Malcolm laughed. "Brain over brawn, dude! It's smarts that count in the corporate world." Mark sighed. This was going to be a tiresome mission. "A little physical competence never hurts. Speaking of which, are you covering those cliffs? My scanner reads no lifeforms but something or someone could be cloaked." Malcolm waved his hand as if shooing a fly away. "Relax, man, there's nothing out here! Brutus just likes some drama. There's absolutely nothing to worry abou...(GASP) LOOK OUT!!!!" Malcolm had glanced up at the cliff in question and was horrified by the sight of three armored Kawashita special forces agents! He quickly raised his hand phaser to fire at the enemy! But alas, he was too late! With a bright flash, a nano beam from the Kawashita special forces agent vaporized poor Malcolm on the spot! BRRZAAKKK!!! *Pooof* As soon as Mark heard the shot, he dropped his scanner, drew his MANTIS™ Death Ray Blaster©, and dove towards the canyon wall in one quick motion. He was none too soon! Another nano beam hit the spot Mark was standing milliseconds before! Mark snapped up against the rock wall, blaster ready, and listened for the enemy. He didn't get a chance to see where they were. It wasn't a minute before a taunting voice echoed across the valley. "Come out, come out, wherever you are! Mwahaha!" Another Kawashitan voice chimed in. "Don't worry, Zeloot. He won't get away. This is like shooting a fish in a barrel!" Mark began to analyze his situation as he noticed the small pile of ash where Malcolm stood a minute ago... With the help of a soaring pulse and a rush of adrenaline, a clever plan for survival sprung to mind. The ex-space pirate carefully drew out a small capsule that he had been keeping in his spacesuit. Mark mused to himself, they probably haven't seen this in Kawashita before... Without further thought, Mark threw the small cylinder up towards the jeering voices. The Kawashian special forces anticipated a conventional method of attack. "HAND GRENADE! QUICK, FIRE!" Before they could fire, however, the "hand grenade" let out a powerful electron pulse which promptly zapped the nano beam rifles of Mark's foes! ...Immediately rendering their weapon battery cells useless! Mark didn't wish to let his enemies recover from their shock, and so fired up his Awesomnium Powered Jetpack! Mark now glared eye to eye with the helpless Kawashita employees as he cocked his MANTIS™ Death Ray Blaster© four feet from their faces! "You were SAYING?!?!?!" To Be Continued! (Begin commentary) No hard feelings to my dark red friends! Clearly a truce is in your best interests since you are technologically inept in combat. Here are a few shots on a plain background for those who prefer them! Enjoy! The Dire Deserts of Death. by Mark E., on Flickr EDIT* I now realize I didn't read the rules. Shucks! Unless I can find time to fix this consider this a freebuild.

[M - B04] Some assembly required... by Mark E., on Flickr Planet B04 Barnius, Exploration. Like most of the MANTIS operatives, Mark of Orion has been transferred from MANTIS HQ on the planet Torresta to the nearby planet Barnius. His assignment - grunt labor. Mark plunged into the vast woods with a sensory array assembly package. But once Mark began to work, he realized this was a real job... and a really slow job at that. 6 hours later, Mark was adding the finishing touches to the complex device. "Some assembly required... HA! I'd rather storm an alien fortress than sit here building this hunk of junk!!" Mark realized his outburst was childish and wiped his sweat-slick chin thoughtfully. "Nah, it's not that bad out here, the weather's nice, I get some time to myself, and It could be worse... I could be making minimum wage at Maczargalds flipping zurgers..." Mark's logical thoughts were soon usurped by his previous melancholy attitude. Ex-pirates are often grumpy, due to lack of adrenaline rush. "It's awfully quiet out here... Too quiet. I hope they send me to a nice, open desert soon so I can at least see the aliens before they gobble me up!"

Activity - Exploration. Location - Jurin II - E02 Previously, Mark of Orion had survived a deadly ambush on Guinevere. Now, he and his team were on the other side of the galaxy, exploring the heavily vegetatious planet of Jurin II. "Look at all the flora and fauna! Too bad Malcolm couldn't see all this!" Bert strolled around, happily gazing at all the new species before his eyes. "Malcolm didn't seem to be the type who was interested in plants - he was easily bored with his surroundings, if I recall." Mark scoffed and pushed a branch out of his face. Bert tromped through some thick ground cover. "Yeah, whatever happened to him, anyway? He sure was a jerk." "He got vaporized by a nano-beam of a Kawashita special forces agent." "Oh, that's... too bad. I assume you just ran for it?" "No, I turned to fight all three of 'em." "WOW, what happened?!" "It was all a bit of a blur. I don't remember." Mark said coldly, turning away. Bert decided he'd better stop asking questions, and looked back at his scanner. "Captain Brutus, I'm getting some strange readings - some kind of insectoid life form in this tree!" "There's lots of beetles and bugs around here. Nothing to worry about." The captain gruffly growled. Just then, a Massive Malicious Munchmoid leaped on the terrified captain, disproving his statement. THIS bug was something to worry about! The entire crew immediately panicked at the sight of the grotesque creature dropping from the trees. The Munchmoid landed squarely on the captain, who screamed loudly, muffled underneath the bug's weight. Lew, who was standing next to Mark of Orion, attempted to disarm the bug with his phaser, but was too frightened to aim properly and the shot went wide. Mark of Orion, however, knew he must act quickly, and in one step, set his MANTIS™ death ray blaster© against the creature's forehead. Mark's death ray blaster sang its song, and the Munchmoid went flying backwards from the sheer force of the glowing blast. Captain Brutus leapt back from the scene of his near demise. "GAAAHH! It almost got me! I can't feel my arm!" "That would be my blaster, sir. The ray must have clipped your arm." Mark jumped in between him and the still form of the Munchmoid. "Then why isn't it GONE?! And the beastly bug too?!" "I took the liberty of adding a stun setting to my MANTIS™ death ray blaster©. I assume you will approve, considering you still have your arm?" "Ah, yes, yes, that's fine, Orion, thank you." The captain pointed at the Munchmoid. "Now VAPORIZE this thing!" "Wait, sir. It's completely stunned and won't move for days. Why don't we drag it back to the dropship and use it for research?" Mark suggested with a grin. "Are you KIDDING me?!" Mark's grin continued. Apparently, he wasn't. "Ugh. All right. YOU get to drag it back, then." The captain rolled his one eye. And with that, the slightly shaken and jittery crew headed back to their ship. ...To Be Continued! (Begin Commentary) Well, I was completely swamped with school this weekend, but I still wanted to get a little build in for AG. Hopefully I'll have more time in the next few weeks to do something even bigger and better. Here's a final overview shot:

The Siege of Alesia by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr Based off of the painting "Vercingetorix Throws Down His Arms at the Feet of Julius Caesar" 1899, by Lionel Noel Royer The Siege of Alesia by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr One of my favorite wars of history was the Gallic Wars which were a series of military campaigns waged by the Roman proconsul Julius Caesar against several Gallic tribes. Rome's war against the Gallic tribes lasted from 58 BC to 50 BC and culminated in the decisive Battle of Alesia in 52 BC, in which a complete Roman victory resulted in the expansion of the Roman Republic over the whole of Gaul (mainly present day France and Belgium). The wars paved the way for Julius Caesar to become the sole ruler of the Roman Republic. Built for Major B's "Recreate History" contest. Enjoy!

My entry to Round 4 of The Tourney. The category assigned to me, was, Nightmare: Portray a dark representation of a character's worst nightmares. This nightmare must not be merely reliant on a story to describe it (although you may include one if you wish); the MOC should be easily recognizable as a nightmarish scene. I decided on doing an all LEGO scene, and tried to capture a dark and scary atmosphere with the color choices, landscape, night background and monstrous creatures. The backdrop was inspired by LL, whose builds you should definitely check out: Link More pictures here: Link C&C welcome

Just joined the forum today.I am a 21 year old college senior (Computer Science) and I just got back into Lego. I have been loving the new Nexo Knight theme, gives me a real He-man/Warhammer vibe, which I can dig. I thought I'd share my current setup, what do you guys think? I would love some feedback and suggestions. http://imgur.com/a/CD3iU Just spent a good hour trying to embed the images with Flickr (site has changed since tutorial was posted:/ ) and Brickshelf never sent me an activation email, so apologies for that.

Captured! by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr Mark of Orion, the fearless spaceship captain, has crash-landed on an inhospitable uncharted planet! "Zounds! When I find the sucker who hit us from behind, they've had it!" Mark wandered across the rugged terrain, the gaseous atmosphere swirled thickly around him. The poisonous fog rapidly cleared and, suddenly, Mark found himself in the center of a imperial squadron! Instantly, every enemy weapon was locked on the lone pirate. "Uh... Greetings! I come in peace!" "Enough with that, rebel scum! Surrender or die!" The Imperial captain snarled. Mark wanted to appear innocent, and it was often possible to fool the not-so-brilliant Imperial troops. "Hold on! I'm not a rebellious intruder! My ship was shot down just outside this atmosphere! If you hurry you can catch the fiends!" The captain grinned maliciously. "We took down a pirate craft just seconds ago!" "Uh, that's well, that great! You've already got them! Bravo! I'll see you gents later!" "Wait just a second, what are you doing with such a powerful handgun, and a sword?" Mark looked down at his automatic laser pistol and razor-sharp sword. "One can never be too careful out here." Undaunted by the innocent act, the captain continued. "Our scanners indicate that the crew escaped to the surface before the destruction of the ship!..." Mark of Orion wasn't about to give up. "See what I mean? There could be bad guys anywhere!" "Okay, that's enough! Take him men! ICV Scimitar, nine to beam up." ___________________ To be continued! Inept Interrogation! by Brother Steven, on Flickr Mark of Orion, the intrepid spaceship captain has been taken prisoner by the Empire of Capella, and the imperial officers are seeking information from their newest captive. "Who are you with, and what was your mission on the forbidden planet!?!?" The Imperial captain cracked his knuckles menacingly. Mark's mind raced furiously. if he couldn't convince them, he wasn't a pirate, his chair would be set to five ga-zillion tetrawatts! "My name is, uh..... Stanley. Yeah, Stanley. I don't have any so-called mission! You shot me down without the slightest provocation!" " "Oh, ho ho! So it was you flying around in a forbidden zone, huh "Stanley"." ? "Umm, yeah, I didn't realize that area was off limits... You could have sent me a text or something instead of assaulting my craft!" The Captain chuckled, completely undaunted ,and adjusted his sunglasses while he pretended to listen to the pathetic excuses. "You're not the one asking questions here, bud. Why exactly were you flying a craft through illegal space?" "Well, that's easy to explain! I'm uh, I'm a... Surveyor! Yup, I'm a surveyor. That's it." one of the hulking imperial soldiers snarled. "I say he's lying! Let's zap 'im right now!" "Hold on Private, I'm about to give him the works... Well, "Stanley," I have news for you... We did a forensic identity check up, and your DNA, your facial features, your vocal patterns and your location all match PERFECTLY to the well-known space pirate and wanted criminal "Mark of Orion"! What have you to say to that?" Mark was flabbergasted by the barrage of guilt-proving facts. "Ooh, that was a pretty good move there, Captain. But I'm innocent! You can't prove anything!" Captain Lockjaw wasn't convinced. "You're lying! We've got you cold, Orion!" Mark smiled. "Prove it, Lockjaw!" The Imperial captain saw an opportunity to crack this nut once and for all. "I'll do just that! Bring in the "LDD"!" "What!? LDD!? What's that!? What does it do? Is it up to interplanetary peace convention codes?" Inept Interrogation (part2) by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr The Captain cracked his knuckles. *Crackle-pop-snap* "LDD Stands for Lie Detecting Device!" "What a lame name... What about Deceit Destroyer, or Dishonesty Dishoner or maybe even the Treachery and Trickery Terminator? Captain Lockjaw growled. "Silence fool! You will now answer our questions truthfully or we will surely know about it!" "Oh, I'm shaking in fear." The machine responded. *Bleep Bleep - Lie.* The machine's reaction gave Mark an idea! "Ha! You guys have this all planned out don't you?" *Bleep Bleep - Lie.* "AAUGH! Shut him up!" Mark didn't stop. he was enjoying this and he was on a roll. "Wow, you guys are so smart! Truly an example to the whole empire!" *Bleep Bleep - Lie.* "Haha! I love this thing!" *Bleep Bleep - Truth.* "RRRGGHHH! Turn that thing OFF!" _______________________________________________ To be continued! MOC made by my brother, Brother Steven. Story by me. Thanks for viewing and have a great day!

Here's my newest creation - a mini railroad diorama! Since this is a diorama of a house and since there is a train in the forum banner, I hope this is the right place (and not train tech). A render of the concept: The finished scene: Without the train: The train in detail: The carriages can hold up to three minifigs each if the hair piece doesn't need too much space. The train is pretty unstable but it is not meant to be played with. The whole train is connected to the scene at two spots. I hope you like it!

My latest build for what was formerly known as LCC. (Now LoR) Full story (And eventually more pictures) on Flickr. Or, if you're lazy and don't want to follow the link, here's the full story. The horde of loathsome Outlaws had gained even greater numbers than before! The evil baron of the queen, Mathieux Deschamps, deemed the extra reinforcements necessary if he was to fully subjugate the unruly, rebellious Loreesi to their ever-patient sovereign. They had just crossed into the area traditionally claimed as the border of Loreos, when they heard a low rumble, not from their own feet. The entire force stopped in consternation. Then suddenly, the banner of the old King appeared over the next rise of sand dunes! Then a rider on horseback... No, a knight! The gleam of armor could be seen! Then more and more knights! Hundreds! Thousands! The horde of Outlaws was utterly shocked to see a enormous army of the terrible armored knights of Loreos arrayed before them! It was then the Outlaws began to seriously question their leader's leadership abilities... "Baron! You said the Loreesi armies were disbanded!!" The Baron's eyes widened in terror. "They are!! Or they should be!!" "Well I see a big un-disbanded army there! What are we going to do!?" "We'll fight them, you cowards! They are the rebels now!" "Wait a minute there! We didn't sign up for an even battle with armored lancers! You promised us lots of plunder and booty with little or no danger!" As the arguments of the Outlaw soldiers and their leader escalated, the Loreesi leader strode forward. "I DEMAND PARLEY!" One of the Outlaws recognized the man whose voice had just echoed over the battlefield. The perfect hair! The ever-present grin! The famous emblem on his shield! It could be none other than the "Bane of all Outlaws"! "IT'S MARK OF FALWORTH!!!" Stunned silence hung in the air. Then the Outlaws all simultaneously cried- "WHHAAAT!?!?!?!?" "B-But, we killed him!" "No, the dragon got 'em!" The Baron was just as confused as his men. "No! No! I killed him with a boulder!" The Loreesi knight called out again. I AM MARK OF FALWORTH!! AND I DEMAND PARLEY!! One of the Outlaws nudged the Baron. "Well Mathieux? Aren't you goin to talk to em?" "NO I'm not going to talk to him! It's probably a trap!" One of the biggest outlaw warriors rebuked the baron. Oh, you're going to talk to him! Unless you want us to hand you over to the Loreesi as a plea bargain! A chorus of assent ran through the Outlaw army. Mathieux had no other choice. The evil baron rode out to meet the Loreesi leader. Mathieux Deschamps had seen Mark of Falworth several times before, and there was no question in his mind that this was the real Mark of Falworth. The happy grin was a dozen times more terrifying than usual. Mathieux, despite being almost lost for words, was the first to speak. "How?..... How could you be?..." "Alive? Haha!" "The dragon they speak of....?" "He mussed up my hair. So I had to kill him." The baron swallowed hard. "You can never win, Mathieux. You're doomed to failure!" "Is that so?" "It's an absolute certainty, I'm afraid." "And why is that, Mark?" "You've made me your enemy! and now I've come for you and all who would stand by you!" "Well I hate to disappoint you. But my army is still larger then yours! You won't be able to stop us!" "Your ugly rabble could hardly stand a good strong breeze, let alone the mightiest warriors in the world! These knights have marched to the gates of Stonewald and back! They've trained all their lives for war, and have been battling ever since! You have no chance whatsoever!" "A fine speech! But it will do you no good! In the name of the gracious queen I demand you to surrender! Or I declare you a Rebel and an Outlaw!" "In the name of justice I demand you to surrender!" "Bah! You and your "Justice" are the scourge of the land!" "Likewise. Now, surrender unconditionally or suffer the consequences!" "Never! You'll have to kill me before I surrender to you dogs!" "Good! Now I shall have the distinct pleasure of destroying you utterly, you beslubbering beef-witted coxcomb!" And with that, each went back to his force. The charge was sounded and the battle began! ------------------------------------ To be continued!

Typo in the title, should be Summer, if a mod wants to fix it This was made to serve as the announcement poster for the Summer Joust contest. Pretty sure this forum is the best fit. I was looking for a fall/Halloween moc idea and decided to use this picture as an inspiration: Here is the moc so far: I don't have a red wheel barrow yet so I need to get that. The gray part will be filled with trans blue studs for water. I may builda rusty tractor or something to sit in there.

Activity- Exploration. Location- Mynderis - A04. Previously, Mark of Orion saved Captan Brutus from the Malicious Munchmoid on Jurin II. In reward for his brave service and quick thinking, Mark was promoted from the exploration dropship team to a new solo mission. Mark was sad to leave his comrades but the new pay grade was definitely a must. Not eating at the maggot-infested cafeteria was pricey at best! Mark's next mission, to try out a new MANTIS™ prototype vehicle. Arachtis Strider M2 The Arachtis Strider M2© has just come out of the diabolical labs of MANTIS™ HQ. Unlike most conventional vehicles, the Strider has six independently-powered limbs that propel the saucer--style body. Made from a mix of Durithium composites, the strong but flexible exoskeleton provides a durable frame for the softer bioengineered core. The "feet" are based on the same cell structure of the tentacles of the Garctaloid of Yallorn II, which can send sensory information to the control panels while providing excellent support and superior grip. But this unique transportation mode is not just for show. The Arachtis Strider can traverse even rough terrain at 85 MPH. And the 9 Awesomnium-powered thrusters means that this craft is capable of effectively flying in upper level atmospheres and beyond. The designers believed interplanetary travel in the current Strider model is possible, though dangerous due to the vehicle's small size and weak debris shields. Understandably, Mark was very excited to man the first expedition in the Arachtis Strider M2©! His first mission was on the currently uncontested planet of Mynderis A04. neither Octan nor Kawashita were believed to have any operatives on the surface. As Mark touched down on the crusty plain, he felt for the first time what is must be like to be a 20-foot tall alien bug! "Ohohoho! This thing is FUN!" The location Mark had been posted was on the northern tip of the volcanic planet, here the temperature was well below freezing and the lava flows and eruptions were less frequent. The advanced computers immediately began to direct Mark to curious object on a rocky slope. On closer inspection, the purple edifice gave off large amounts of energy and radiation. Probably Awesomnium! "Time to try out the feet." Arachtis Strider M2 on Mynderis A04 Mark directed one of the limbs to rest on the larger crystal in the center of the mound. The computer immediately read out, "Content: Crystallized Awesomnium 98%, Basalt ash 2%" Mark smiled. This tech was useful. "Nice! I wonder how deep this crystal thing goes..." "Approximately 1300 feet." "Haha! This is awesome!" "Incorrect: The content is 98% Awesomnium." "Yes, yes! I know! Hmm... Where are those humor settings..." To Be Continued! (Begin commentary) Well, I didn't have much time this week, but I did have a friend over on friday and while we were building and tinkering with the LEGO I managed to come up with this bug saucer thingy! Reminds me of War of the Worlds, even though I've never seen the movie or read the books! Hopefully next week I'll be able to DESTROY reply to all the MANTIS™ Haters!
