  1. Gingerbread House looks pretty sweet indeed! Much better than the train. Now the big question is: should I get the Winter Toy Shop with double VIP points or wait and get the Gingerbread House instead...?
  2. It's an action theme, no doubt about it. We didn't see Ninjago or Pharaoh Quest in "historic themes" either, and this is *very* similar thematically and conceptually. For those of you who cannot understand why this theme is getting so many negative reactions, try to understand this: we wanted a historical and/or fantasy castle theme. And Nexo Knights does not deliver on that in any way, shape or form. Some of you love it, and that's fine - but many of us here are not into Ninjago and Chima, and thus have no interest in any way in this successor.
  3. After having now seen pictures of this abomination of a theme, I'd once again like to refer to the quote that started this whole hype train...
  4. This is accurate. I got 2 random figs back when I complained about the jester and princess minifigs.
  5. Wow, this is stunning. I love U2 and I love this moc!
  6. With the yellow hands replaced by grey, this one would be the perfect fit:
  7. You do realize that you of all people should really not be making a fuss out of this situation, right? You started this whole huge rumour mill by spreading false information and now you complain when someone else cannot deliver real information fast enough for your liking? We should all be thankful if/when just2good delivers any news at all, not attack him. He has often shared interesting information on upcoming sets before as a service to this community. He has no obligation to do so in any way. Pictures will come soon enough. Relax, people.
  8. I bought 21 mostly random bags today and managed to score all 8 that I really wanted - plus additional gargoyles, spectres and banshees. The only really unwanted figs I got was 3 mad scientists (why do LEGO keep spamming those?), but overall it was a very nice haul. Especially since they were at an introductionary price and I had expected that I'd have to buy many more in order to get what I wanted. Perhaps even an entire box. So a good LEGO day for me!
  9. I'm sure he wasn't aware that he was replying to the actual designer. I personally had no idea, and I'm sure most here was unaware. You cannot expect it to be a widely known fact what the LEGO designers have for user names on various online foras. And I'm sure that they wouldn't be here at all if they couldn't take some criticism. You cannot please everyone with everything you make, and they know that. Personally, I dislike most of the Ninjago and Chima sets simply because they evolve around wild-looking vehicles. But that said, I'm pretty impressed with the innovative build techniques and designs used for most of them. Like the crocodile boat and the mammoth mech. Neither have a place in my own collection, but if I were a child I'd be all over those! In short: they are not to my personal liking, but I understand their appeal and admire the efforts behind them.
  10. Having sought for this set for quite some time now (after initially, to my later regret, passing on buying the set) I FINALLY managed to get this beauty today: It was the last known copy in the entire city (yes, I've been to all the toy stores, supermarkets, etc.) and at 20 % off! I am very pleased.
  11. Not as good a set as those from previous years. And this year, unlike at least last year, you cannot combine double VIP points with grabbing this promo...
  12. I'd honestly rather have a re-imagining where they use modern pieces, colours and techniques but still keep the spirit and overall design of the originals.
  13. If you can still find some LOTR and Hobbit sets around, those would likely be a rather good investment (in terms of LEGO being investments at all). If you want a hint on whether the current Pirates theme could be a good investment, I suggest you look up the aftermarket price on the 2009 wave for comparison.
  14. I completely disagree. It's only natural for parents to want some sort of control over what kind of toys their children play with, and wish to limit said toys to those that have their stamp of approval.
  15. I would actually much rather see this theme be a mix between KKII and Chima than have another wave smiliar to 2013 Castle. At least this way, we might actually see some innovation.
  16. That is EPIC! Wow! Amazing effort!
  17. Where I come from, jokes involve at least some shred of humor to be considered a 'joke'. At any rate, we'll likely be seeing pictures soon enough.
  18. It sounds like an action theme. All signs point towards that.
  19. Wow, this theme just keeps getting worse and worse... Thanks again for the initial "return of fantasy castle!!!" hype, BrickJagger. Oh well. Even KKII had elements and even whole sets that were pretty good. Here's hoping for the best.
  20. Try to watch one of the documentaries or even read an article concerning the production cycle of LEGO, then come back and support the claim above. And like someone else said: we really don't have anything to "apologize" for.
  21. If we are to believe the (very plausible-sounding rumors), LEGO was going to discontinue this line - and only decided against it due to demand after last year's set. They did not have time to come up with something brand new this year, so it was basically giving us a re-release or giving us nothing. So even those who already have this set should just be happy that LEGO actually listened to fans and decided to continue the line, and look forward to a brand new set next year.
  22. As we only started collecting the Winter Village sets from the 2013 edition (and thus only have the last 2 sets), I can't personally complain. But I fully understand why people who collected from the beginning feel a great deal of dissapointment with this re-release. I like the concept, though; practically the same except for some details here and there that has been improved. If LEGO would use this concept to re-release more classics, I would be *very* pleased.
  23. Same here. I know this series gets a lot of flack, but I find it highly enjoyable. Thanks for another great review, WhiteFang!
