I myself want some of the green eupalettes and a pair of the dark green pants with a wooden leg - but sadly, the items are not (yet?) available in Bricks & Pieces. Yeah? Sweet!

They'll likely increase a bit more in price before hitting their max value. Keep in mind though that at some point, these older sets will become so outdated that many collectors will start to lose interest and focus on newer sets. Separately for sure, without a doubt. You'll get more potential buyers and thus you'll get more cash this way.

Thanks! I haven't opened that one yet. Yes, 5 years sounds about right. I got it in the aftermarket a few years after it was discontinued, for a very good price (a bit lower than retail price back when it was purchaseable). I managed to get most of the 2009 Pirates sets that way, though 6253 Shipwreck Hideout sadly eluded me. In my current collection, I have no older Pirates sets than the 2009 ones. In my childhood collection, I have some of the small to medium original sets - with Lagoon Lockup being the crown jewel - but sadly, the condition of my childhood collection is... unimpressive, due to bitemarks and scratches.

After having saved them both for a special occation, I finally decided to open and build 6241 Loot Island (yes, I kept it unopened for this long) and 70411 Treasure Island this weekend. I like them both, but felt that both had features the other lacked. So I thought: why not make an amalgamation and combine the best features (in my opinion) from both? So that's what I did: My creation has retained the overall look of a LEGO set (at least that was the intention) and keeps the setup with 3 minifigs that both sets share, with me picking my favourites from both (and switching heads on the soldiers, just for the hell of it). Also, I added a monkey. Because that's the #1 thing both sets lacked! What do you think? Did I succeed with my "best of both worlds" or did I ruin them both?

Review: 75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters

It's a lot of money no matter how many bricks are in it. Things can be both expensive and good value for money, you know. -
Review: 75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters

Too expensive and I don't dabble in licensed sets unless they fit into my Castle or Pirates themes - but I must say that this set is quite spectacular. The amount of detail simply amazes me, and the figures are great and varied. It's hard to think of anything the set lacks to represent the two classic movies. Great review, too! -
The dark green eupalettes and dark green legs with a wooden leg seems useful to me. Other than that... not so much.

Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions

As usual, Vintage, you're living the the LEGO dream. I don't even want to think about how much cash you've spent on vintage Pirates and Castle LEGO over the last few years, but good for you, man! Must be a blast to get all those sets new in box. -
This is one of, if not the, most amazing mocs I have ever seen. Incredible size and attention to detail. Wow!

REVIEW: 70751 Temple of Airjitzu
Hive replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great review of a pretty but waaaay too expensive set. -
I'm not imaginative enough to do it better, and several of the modules will be eerily similar - but I might do it anyway.
-
Nice! I have myself been toying around with plans to do exactly this for many months, even writing down in detail the modules I wanted to build. I just never got around to do it. It's fun to stumble across this thread and see many of the same ideas I had in brickform.
-
Not a bad set. It has some very nice details and a good colour scheme. But it's not among their best modulars. Far better than the last one, though.

The set with the statue is great, don't care about the rest. But I really like the statue set. Wonder what it is...
-
Sure, let's start more BrickJagger-fueled Castle-rumors... just what this place needs.

If Playmobil can have great success with a large Pirate theme, so can LEGO - if they want to.
-
Very impressive, I always love me a good and detailed Castle moc.

I think both the 2009 and 2015 waves were really good and would have loved for them to be expanded upon in subsequent waves. Were they perfect? No, they had their flaws. But they were still pretty damn good and sported some impressive minifig designs. I'd even say that both 2009 and 2015 Pirates are among the best waves LEGO has made in this millenium in any theme, but that is, of course, a biased opinion given my thematical preferences.

This is not merely a moc, this is art. Amazing.
