  1. Great work, Robert! Especially the Evil Queen delights both me and (especially) my girlfriend.
  2. I would have never imagined such a set being released as a LEGO Ideas set. I'm pleasantly surprised, this may actually be the first of the fan made creations I'll be getting. Looks like it has tons of potential.
  3. I'm not overly impressed. And the price point is too high for what it is. Oh well, there's always next year. At least they decided to continue the theme, which in itself is great.
  4. This. Ninjago, Chima, Nexo Knights... all have interesting parts among them. But I'm not buying an expensive set where half of it is a ridiculous vehicle just for a handful of parts that could be useful for Castle. LEGO is too expensive for that. And buying something you know you don't want is always a waste, no matter the price.
  5. I want to love this set, but it just doesn't "do it" for me. Especially not at that price point.
  6. Love it! So imaginative.
  7. None of those things bug me. Their colour palette changed, that's just the way it is. A darker helmet would have been nice, sure, but it looks good like this as well.
  8. Does it have knights, shields, factions, medieval accessories, etc? No? Then, no, it's not Castle theme. You don't try to fit a futuristic hovercar in the City theme by saying "well it's a car, isn't it?" as well, do you?
  9. The Disney theme may have parts that can be used for castle building. The Elves theme may have parts that can be used for castle building. The Nexo Knights theme may have parts that can be used for castle building. But none of them are castle. They're no substitute. Imagine you going to a restaurant: You: I'd like a large Coke, please. Waiter: We don't have Coke, but how about a Dr. Pepper? That's brown as well! ...not really what you would be looking for, eh?
  10. I, sadly, believe that we fans of Castle are going to have to wait for quite a while... we won't get any new Castle sets, except for an oddball here and there like the current Classic Knight promo, untill Nexo Knights is over with - and that one will probably (unfortunately) last about as long as Chima or, if we're really unlucky, Ninjago...
  11. You're in for a treat! It is extremely rare for a LEGO set to excite me this much, both before and after building it. It's a simple, yet so elegant set. Filled with nostalgia and perfectly executed. The only way to make it better would be to put another figure in there, like in the original set it was built after.
  12. That's what I did. I just *had* to have the brand new Crusader. I opted out of getting the pirate last year, but this magnificent beast - with not one, but two brand new Lion shields - I simply could not pass up... I got it today and built it right awy (quickly discarding the stuff I actually *bought*), and it did not dissapoint. Great figure. 10/10.
  13. Yeah, those 3 are the variations I have. And thanks again for the kind words, people!
  14. I did try, they rejected it. About the baseplate, I definetely recommend getting one. I myself got 3 variations of it a few years ago, when the price was a bit lower. I wish LEGO still did raised baseplates, they can really make a build look that much more imposing and grand.
  15. Thanks, guys. They won't accept interpretations of existing sets, sadly.
  16. Thanks for the kind words. The ship is my own favorite part, as I allowed myself to steer a lot more away from the original blueprint with that one.
  17. In 1992, LEGO released what was to be one of the most iconic non-ship Pirates sets ever: the Imperial Trading Post. The unique mix og Imperials, Pirates and civilians in what was to be the largest Imperial ground structure ever made for a truly imposing and spectacular set that has since been among the most craved for classic Pirates sets among collectors. I set out to remake it with modern look, parts, colours and minifigures. I aimed to make it compatible with the 2009 Imperial Soldiers sets (to which it can actually be attached!) while also incorporating elements from the 2015 Pirates line - also while, of course, remaining faithful to the original set. Without further ado, here she is:
  18. I would love a Flying Dutchman ship. Or that British navy ship, whatever it's called.
  19. Ah, pretty sweet. Especially the plumes. I love me some plumes.
  20. Nice bag, Phes. It's just a Bricklink seller recycling an official LEGO bag though, right?
  21. That is indeed an interesting addition.
  22. I'm strongly considering getting it myself - though if LEGO makes the eupalettes and new peg leg available through Bricks & Pieces, I'll just buy those pieces instead. More cannons, anchors and steering wheels are nice - but not "must haves". From the 3 upcoming summer sets, only the new printed map piece seems all that great.
  23. The QAR is by far the biggest ship and has some very impressive sails. In terms of size (even though it still doesn't get close), it would be the best match for The IFS. However, I strongly feel that The BP is the better ship by far. Smaller, yes, but more striking and feels more complete as well. And it has the best minifigs, if you care about that sort of stuff.
  24. I got myself the three I wanted from this series today: the winged warrior, the evil knight and the queen. They're all pretty good and impressive, though I'm dissapointed that they introduced a new shield mold for the knight. I much prefer the old tri-shields that could be plugged into holes.
  25. I don't collect LEGO Star Wars, but this is an awesome set with TONS of play value. Well done, LEGO.
