Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Carefree_Dude replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
All this friends talks is making me wonder; what would Friends modular buildings be like? I mean I would have expected one in the Friends line long before the ninjago line. -

eh, who am I kidding; whether I am really into the model or not, I'm gonna end up buying it. Gotta build em all! Also a pink townhouse would be neat; in a city I used to live in, there was a row of several townhouses in bright pastel colors that looked amazing. I'd love to see something similar done with modular buildings. I've considered doing it myself. -

I feel as though the design clashes pretty hard with the rest of the buildings in the line; not nearly as much as the Ninjago City though! -

It's not that I don't like pink, I just don't like the style of building. -

I feel as though if our first introduction to it was the official press release instead of this leak, we would have had a better first impression -

I'm not sure what I think of the diner. It looks like a corner building though -

Oh my... My wife would roll her eyes so hard if she saw me with a lego strip club. Then she'd probably surprise me on date night with a home-made minifig costume. -

There are lots of things the modular could be.... What are some things that you think it could never be? -

I wouldn't go as far as to say it feels wrong, but it definitely looks funny. I'd like to re-build the Ninjago City to make it mesh better with how modulars are built. Remove the weird ninja steampunk thing and turn it into more real looking buildings. There are some great ideas scattered around the set, they are just overwhelmed by things like weird elevators and needing to walk on grates to get to upper levels. What was the leaked price of the 2018 modular? -

I Having the ninjago city lined up with my modulars for a while now, I feel more and more that it was never intended to be a true modular building. -

How would you feel about a modular that had a tower going over the walkway that pedestrians could walk under? Like what is on the left side here, but a smaller version. -
I'd love an actual roller coaster set though!

[MOC] Once upon a times when master Wu was young...
Carefree_Dude replied to Vincent Q's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
It looks very serene. I wish the Ninjago theme was more like this, as opposed to weird steampunk ninja shark robots. (who am I kidding the kids love steampunk ninja shark robots). Is there an interior?- 54 replies

I had no idea there was a companion set! No wonder there was only one barrel under the stairs! -

But if you spend all your money on brick banks, what are you going to keep in your brick banks? Even then, the dentist and photography customers also have to walk through a different business to get to their destination. -

I personally prefer one large building over multiple smaller ones. you get a more detailed large building and you don't get weird things like people having to walk through a bakery and a dentist office to get to their tiny apartment. -

[MOD/MOC] Expanding the 10254 Winter Holiday Train
Carefree_Dude replied to mouseketeer's topic in LEGO Town
Step 1: smash your christmas train into roughly 100 pieces. Step 2: Purchase second christmas train set Step 3: Try and build a large train using parts from the two sets Step 4: realize the parts given don't work really well for two trains. Use only wheels and green pieces Step 5: Grab the giant pile of various lego you have laying around. Make a basic frame for the train Step 6: Realize your frame is bad and you should feel bad. Scrap it all. Step 7: Look at various sources online for ideas. eventually just loosely base frame and gearing on emerald night Step 8: Try to make your train as different from the emerald night as possible. Order Power functions parts and an M motor. Step 9: Realize the M motor is bad for this and replace it with an XL motor you have laying around. Step 10: After spending hours incorporating the XL motor into the train in an acceptable matter, learn that the L motor is a thing. step 11: Order L motor, but never get around to actually installing it on the train. Step 12: Use those curved green parts on your train, make it all nice and pretty. Step 13: Add greebling and other stuff, to complete your train Step 14: Try running your train. Realize it doesn't work properly. Step 15: Try and figure out what went wrong, frustratingly destroying your model in the process Step 16: Copy emerald night gearing exactly. Rebuild model. Step 17: Forget you had gotten that nice L motor and use the huge XL motor instead. Step 18: Come to the realization you just have a poorly recolored emerald night, consider scrapping the whole project and starting over, but never getting around to it. Step 19: Congratulations! You now have completed your new christmas train! -
What trains could be rereleased if Lego goes the Legends route?
Carefree_Dude replied to Doom2099's topic in LEGO Train Tech
My number one want would be the Santa Fe Train and the 5 train cars that go with it. Maybe update the model some? It would also be one of the easiest trains to make a Power Functions train as well.- 52 replies

[MOC]: Palameria Commuter Station
Carefree_Dude replied to Elysiumfountain's topic in LEGO Train Tech
wow, that is beautiful! I love the pillars -
You know, Lego released every other giant set over this year... from two massive modular buildings, the biggest lego set ever, and countless other things... might as well give us a $250 expert train as well!

I LOVE the idea of a modular building train station, but i'm not sure how it would work? If you have the platform in front, sure you would see the train, but the tracks would go in the road of the rest of the buildings. If you have it behind the building, you wouldn't be able to see the train if it were put on a shelf. The only other thing I can think of is putting it through the middle of the building, which would make a really short platform.
