  1. I reached out to someone who has the Ausini set, and they were able to take this picture comparing the reds. It looks like it's darker than lego red, but lighter than lego dark red.
  2. I'm not sure if you're interested, but I recently purchased some vinyl dye to color some train parts red. That might give you the look you're going for. https://i.imgur.com/iBRGxv2.jpg
  3. There is so many impressive things here! -Amazing detail and SNOT building techniques -You managed to find the real life trains to display your models with -You have a topic that has been going for almost a decade
  4. For some reason, the dye didn't bond to the plastic like it did for the wheels. I also may have done too much per coat, and the coat isn't exactly even. There's still some black showing through the red. The buffers have a similar issue. I may just bite the bullet and buy some old red ones. Speaking of buffers, somehow they exist in White and Blue, but I have no idea why or where the bricklink sellers got them from.
  5. In all seriousness I feel the train could be a little more festive. What would you recommend? http://i.imgur.com/isDtJSe.jpg I also tried painting holders and buffers but it didn't turn out as nice http://i.imgur.com/iBRGxv2.jpg
  6. Replace the o rings on the wheels for ones at ab automotive store and you'll get much better traction
  7. I was trying to make my own train based on the 10254 Holiday train, but was having issues with getting all the power functions to fit. I eventually decided to just build the Emerald Night to match up with the colors of 10254, and added a few minor changes. I'm fairly happy with the results. I used a plastic dye on the tender wheels, I think they turned out pretty well. See full album here: https://imgur.com/a/Ez6tuxm
  8. A grievous crime against bricks has been committed.
  9. Go to 14:14. He cut the bottom out of that piece it looks like.
  10. Did he cut lego apart to make that work? That seems excessive considering the parts he "created" with cutting more or less already exist.
  11. I think I'm holding out until there is something similar to the L motor in the PF2.0 to build something like this. I really want my train to be driven by the large drive wheels
  12. That is so amazing! I love how you hid the l motor
  13. Hi, I'm interested in this train wheel from the wheel set in red: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=57878&name=Train Wheel RC Train&category=[Wheel]#T=C I know big ben does custom wheels, but I haven't seen these in particular. I've considered painting them, abut the paint would probably rub off quickly on the tracks.
  14. Do the instructions for the new Hogtarts express include anything about motorizing it?
  15. Hi, I have an XL motor that has started making a grinding noise. The motor itself still seems to work but it's loud and grinding. It still makes this noise even when it's not connected to any lego components. Is there a way to fix this?
  16. The dark blue and yellow look amazing together!
  17. How were you able to get the set early?
  18. Since they are updating the lights, I hope they do brighter ones / less blue ones. several of my PF light sets are dim or really blue
  19. That is a really nice looking hogwarts express. it puts all the official models to shame
  20. Man that looks good. are you going to do a brick built version?
  21. I love your setup and I especially love all your lights. What it cost to actually light things up like that?
  22. I was really wanting to build a steam engine using the new PF2.0 system with bluetooth, but due to a lack of motors so far, and so far seeming inferior to what PF1.0 has to offer, I am thinking of doing original powerfunctions instead. The problem is though that i can't figure out a good way to include the receiver. Sbrick is looking very tempting as I can just hide it in the build. Do you feel it's cheating to use a non-lego element like this? Also, are there any cheaper alternatives to S brick?
  23. I've already started designing my own version of the hogwarts express. Currently it uses an L Motor as the base motor, and I have plans to have it very well hidden inside the locmotive. I also have plans to hide the Infared receiver fairly well, which I will probably swap for an S brick.
  24. I don't have access to sound, but am I interpreting the end of that video right? Is the train motor struggling to pull it?
  25. Actually... Perhaps in the future you could get a sensor for your train, that would behave exactly like PTC? Like see the curve coming and slow down? I still wish Amtrak had PTC. I was on a train of theirs that crashed and killed some people because it didn't have PTC.
