  1. i'm kind of embarrassed about the quality of the photos.
  2. That controller looks interesting! Maybe it's just the pictures, but so far that passenger train looks really really bad. i guess it looks better than the preliminary photos, but otherwise it just looks ugly. Still unsure on the cargo train. It looks really similar to 7898, which I've already converted to Power Functions.
  3. I can 100% guarantee you it's some time between April 3rd 2018, and December 31st 2018
  4. Yes, for two reasons 1: To strip them of their power functions 2: To continue to support the train line, and hope Lego releases something I'd enjoy eventually
  5. I'm also assuming there will be a PF1 to PF2 adapter; I mean there was an old 9V to PF adapter, so why not?
  6. That would be perfect if it's true! I wonder though, would you have to connect lights to the battery box too, or could you connect directly to the motor?
  7. This also depends on the size of the new receiver. With the old one, there were giant grey chunks on either side of the locomotive. I REALLY wish stickers were included to cover these.
  8. I REALLY wish how they put PF in the winter train wasn't so clunky, ugly, and ineffective. The lack of weight on the motor makes it struggle, especially with that weird tree spinning car. Sticking the motor in the tender would have been a much better option
  9. I disagree with you here. I'd rather have one "end" and two carriages. This makes it much easier to have a longer train.
  10. Is it bad that I'm mostly interested in the new trains to try out the new power functions and see what kind of cool creations I could make with them? I'm not really interested in the new train sets themselves.
  11. Lego trains don't need doors. The obvious point of entry is the top; a crane or other device removes it from the carriage, passengers use ladders to climb in, and then the top is placed back down. This greatly adds to the security of the train.
  12. Although I loved they did the stream loco route, the winter train didn't appeal to me. It just felt so tiny, the power functions on it were terrible, and it seemed like you didn't get much for what you paid. I disliked it so much, I built my own christmas train. The original christmas train set was pretty beautiful though, but even with that I built a much bigger loco.
  13. Well, I guess people like me who bought like a dozen of them for extra cars helped balance it out!
  14. did Emerald Night really sell poorly? I can understand Horizion Express selling poorly, but Emerald Night seemed like it was one of the most well received sets in a very long time, even with the needing to double the price to add power to it.
  15. It's basically going to be a dark red emerald night with fewer wheels, and cost an extra $40 for the HP name tag ... I'll still buy it
  16. I feel a fancy frog wart train is better than nothing
  17. Personally I'd spend way more than the average consumer due to being a huge train fan. I doubt the average consumer would spend more than 120 for the train.
  18. One motor is great, but it's better if you can do two. If you do two, try and buy the IR receiver V2. Also, if you can replace the rubber O rings with automotive ones, you'll have much better traction on the motors.
  19. I'm working on it! I got an emerald night set up for my 7 month old son to play with!
  20. That sharp yellow line on the nose piece looks so terrible... I really hope there is a sticker or something that blends it better
  21. If they were to change the conectors, I would propose a piece that can convert powerfunctions into the new connector.
  22. I was on that train on an earlier ride.
  23. well bleh. I was going to try and build a MOC of the amtrack train I rode, but now it crashed and killed a bunch of people and I don't think i'm feeling it anymore
  24. Will the diner have an early release for VIP members? if so, when?
  25. Oh come now, I know it's not your favorite, but at least it's not Market Street!
