  1. I must admit seeing as a Mod gave it to you I think complaining about it will just make it stay longer. As much as it may annoy you I think it best to leave it and it may go away. I've been a Skywanker for as long as I can remember... I've embraced my Skywankerish ways. There are far worse things to be teased about than Nexo...
  2. That's the thing for me too. Reminds me too much of a reprint of the Batman torso with red detailing we had... and nobody wants to revisit those posts.
  3. The design seems to be identical to the original red one but the scowl on that side of the head seems new as the red version has the grin and the unhappy face but no teeth being shown?
  4. I've requested to join but wouldn't this image be circulating on Reddit or similar if it was genuine? There's also a pretty good bootleg blue Nightwing that's a little different from the original Lego version so without seeing this image there's a chance it might be that?
  5. That's a ridiculous price. Surely that's just an early seller trying to make a killing. If they go with a price close to that I think it'll stay in the warehouses in China to be honest.
  6. I don't think sellers necessarily get multiple copies of sets to accumulate certain pieces in quantity... There are plenty of sellers with ridiculous quantities of certain items. How they pick them up I don't know but I don't think it's just down to parting out sets. With regards to rereleases I'm really not that bothered by the exact same set coming out but an updated version seems to be the ideal solution. 7191 X-Wing was just updated with 10240 and I think the Falcon could do with a few improvements. That way the original 10179 remains a collectors item for people who want to collect but a big chunk of the scalping edge is taken off with a new release. With regards to buyers picking up sets for resale being such as big deal I don't think it is... hoarders grabbing sets to stockpile would simply be replaced by people who will buy the sets but it may just be over a longer time. I've read about people in Australia buying up a whole trolley of Lego before it's actually put on the shelf. F** that person... that stuff will sell but it may be over days, weeks or maybe even over a month rather than just in a day but it'll sell. It won't have any great effect in Lego's sales or cashflow and the right people will get the sets. I hope people rushed out to buy the Death Star for resale... it was on the shelves for 8 years and a new one is coming... You may get your purchase price but is it worth spending around £250 for a set to have it hover at roughly the same cost in a few years? Maybe go up by £50 eventually? After eBay fees you're not looking at much of a profit especially when every figure has been updated since so there's nothing special in it. I don't care about the bubble bursting for collectors. Do I think that it will have an adverse effect on Lego's sales because scalpers and other resellers won't be bulk buying to speculate? No. Do I think Lego underestimates the amount of AFOL spend? No. The largest toy company in the world is very aware of it's demographic. I actually think the importance of AFOLs is greatly overestimated by AFOLs especially on a forum populated by AFOLs. There are thousands of us on this site... not all AFOLs despite the rules... but enough to make this feel like a large, global community of (mostly) like minded people. Tens of thousands maybe? Nothing to the millions of kids who enjoy their Lego sets... the odd £10 or £20 sets.. the £30-£50 sets... Never mind the larger sets they'll be purchased for special occasions. I actually know more kids with large 'collections' of Lego than I do AFOLs. Kids don't collect toys... they get toys they like and they play with them... It's when we get older it's considered a collection. All my Kenner SW figures when I was a kid wasn't a collection... they were just my toys and I played with them every single day of my childhood. They were never collected. I just think Lego is hugely popular... it may have reached it's peak in popularity and it will work to sustain it but this won't be hugely affected by any loss of considered collectibility by those who look at it for profit.
  7. The thick cape should be the giveaway that it's just the genuine Lego figure in the shots. I think some of the SW images actually still had the Lego logo on the side of the blasters visible. If they did dual moulding that would be great as a cheaper way of getting them... I would just hope they would offer different colour variations to official Lego stuff such as red/yellow legs for Flash etc. If nothing else getting Supes hair at a cheap cost would be good also.
  8. No... the figure's design dates back to around 2006 from the first Batman line. Jim has only been Batman since last year so unless someone knew something rather specific back then I think the resemblance is just coincidental.
  9. The Yellow Lantern has since been updated with the Lego torso... That is a pad printed custom that was released before Lego did theirs. The front row far left figure is a pad printed custom replica of an early prototype Batman that was part of a display for the early Batman releases. I used to have the reference pic for it but not anymore unfortunately.
  10. Well it depends whether you like the sets or the figures. Do you want them just to keep and hope they go up in value? If so I'm not sure as they tend to be the cheaper end of the set scale. I'm always a little confused as to why people ask other people whether they should buy something or collect it. Do you want them? If so then buy or 'collect' them. If you don't then don't.
  11. I think that's just it. There's a lot of stuff to go on shelves and the schedule was probably out slightly. The Snowspeeder was released with the AT-AT for obvious play reasons even though it was actually Wedge's speeder that winched the legs. Having the Hoth set come out in the next wave or so after retirement isn't such a big deal. Not everything can be on shelves at the same time and if people really wanted an AT-AT it was there... there's always going to be people late for a particular release and it will come back around eventually.
  12. The listing says 'Rebrickable'. Do we know where these come from? Rebrickable doesn't sound like a Chinese bootleg. Could this be something US or Europe based specifically moulding these rare brick colours specifically for sets such as the GG?
  13. It didn't look particularly convincing to me but the official trailer and this have shown very little so it was just as reference to the previous posts. I'm not sure why someone would post it?
  14. I think there's a 'new' iffy clip seemingly filmed from a screen with time clock etc and it shows two walkers and a single TIE almost in silhouette although it shows the Rogue One logo with 'Anthology' under it which is apparently an older name... but it still checks out. ;) Whether the clip is real or fan generated I'm not entirely sure.
  15. I've got all of the Lego Batman variations as well as a few pad printed customs and I think it's around the 40 mark. I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of those custom which are pretty impossible to get hold of now. I don't consider dual moulding over normal legs to be a variant or having a moulded cape with backpack over a fabric cape a variant either. Whether someone considers the Lego Movie version to be a variant as it's got a different head to the regular version I'm not sure. It's a new piece but I don't think it creates enough of a 'variant'... same with the dimensions Batman being a New 52 torso with old cowl. I also don't count microfigures although some Youtube people tend to include them in their collections of a character. This needs updating now as there's quite a few new figures to go in there.
  16. I think will be a very popular set. I built two from genuine Lego from B&P and BL and then sold one for the cost of the parts for both so happily I have a genuine Lego version that cost me nothing. As long as they don't try and go silly and charge a lot then this will be popular with the AFOLs
  17. I'm not sure if it's better or not as I've not used the alcohol method but if you rub too hard with Brasso then it can take the surface shine off that area so you need to be careful. In the UK at least , Brasso can be sold as a tin with a fabric that is impregnated with the polish and you need to be firm to get the desired effect... I now use the liquid stuff so I can be a little more gentle but thorough and the finish has been better.
  18. I think that looks really good... just a good, fun and enjoyable film and the comedic timing of those actors should be spot on so I'm definitely looking forward to it.
  19. You may certainly speak for me as you are correct. Mask off the bits you're keeping and gentle Brasso rub will do the trick... et voila! Biggs. I need to update that photo of the Imperial Officers now I've added the dual moulded boot legs. I've just Brasso'd the mad scientist legs from the Halloween CMF range so Yularen can have boots too.
  20. And if they reach their sales target then any of the negativity however constructive or warranted will mean very, very little.
  21. It's a Yoda Chronicles short: He appears at 45 seconds as he's the bounty hunter that finds Luke.
  22. I really don't think the Batcave can be described as lazy. Admittedly the Hoth set appears to me the victim of some lazy design choices due to the elements that make up a lot of the set resembling past releases but there's nothing about the Batcave that says recycled or lazy idea. Perhaps a little unrefined in places but certain not to the point of the designer just phoning it in. The issue of cost over 'value' will always be an issue regardless of the size of the set but more apparent in very large sets. I think BrickHitHouse's comment relates more directly to people that just seem to say 'it's too expensive'. I know that people use this forum to offer opinions about sets in the hope that it will get back to Lego in some way and help influence future set designs and decisions but I really don't think it has any effect on Lego at all. People have said for years about the design of the Snowspeeder, including me, that they need to tweak the design even by the addition of a more accurate canopy but nothing posted on this forum for years has had an bearing on that happening... and here we have what appears to be a clone of the exiting Snowspeeder appearing in the new Assault on Hoth. I don't believe for one second that dissenting comments made on here have any bearing whatsoever on Lego's design process or costing strategy. Smaller sets may have made a Batmobile more accessible to some but it didn't happen so people do need to 'get over it' a little. It's not going to change. With very large set there is an element of it just being 'tough' when it comes to someone not being able to afford it. Lego isn't a cheap hobby especially when looking at Licensed sets. Short of moulding on certain parts of the set, which I think should have been included and has been done as a mod by someone and posted on Youtube (which I think made the set look more complete), I can see their idea of having one large set and including everything in it over releasing it as separate sets. If anything the comments regarding that may show Lego that there is interest in a Classic Batman series but these conversation may very well have happened at Lego and, forfar one reason or another, they went with one large set. Should the set have been a little cheaper? Maybe... Offering it at £199 rather than the £229 doesn't seem like too much of a stretch. Do I think they're wrong in them doing one large set over multiple small sets? No... not really. I'd have probably bought all the smaller sets anyway so it makes no really difference to me but I can see why some people would have preferred it that way to make some elements more affordable. God help this place if a UCS Falcon gets released around the $500/£500 mark. As elitist as some things come across now there'd be both dancing in the streets and a swathe of angered disapproval depending on which side of the conversation you found yourself on.
  23. That looks great. The Lego version really was a very simplified option but this has excellent scale and detail as well as overall 'spider-host' shape.
