Where To Start With Custom Minifigure Printing?
Robianco replied to BlueDingoGaming's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
There's a tutorial on creating torso designs here: As a design student and with you stating you know about Pad and Digital printing I'll assume you know that if you're creating designs to be printed by a pad printing you're better off working with vector artwork (Illustrator) as each colour will need a separate plate making for that corresponding pad. For me the most important thing is to work with the Lego design ethic. Creating designs that look like they were done by Lego makes them 'feel' real to me. That includes working with the correct weight of lines, trying to match colours to existing Lego colours etc. Lego have gone through phases of making elements on a design look more realistic such as belts or straps not just being straight lines but being slightly curved and having clothing elements contain creases etc. Make look at how they take real life designs and make them 'Lego-fied' such as Star Wars characters. If you're creating designs for Super Heroes figures then most muscle torsos follow the same design as a base but then have graphic for each character added. I recreated the SDCC figures from a couple of years ago for decals in Illustrator which can be found here: There are two versions of Jpeg there... The 300DPI one is adjusted to people can print onto decal paper or sticker. I did these a few years ago of some Green Lantern figures. You can see what I mean about the muscle lines being standard and then working the design onto it. -
I really don’t think anybody ‘hates you’ on this site. I don’t think you need to worry about what the site is about or learning about it’s full extent. It’s just a site with categories devoted to each area of interest and populated with threads that relate to those all under the umbrella of Lego. I think the issue is how you respond to replies. As Pep and other mods have said it’s a site that’s been created for AFOLs so technically you should be 18 to participate, but they will allow younger members to contribute if they behave in the right way. It may just be that your eagerness to participate comes across in the wrong way at times and it may be good to just find the parts of the site you like and read through some threads of interest to gauge how things go. From there you can contribute and become part of the community

As long as they don’t become the Gungans I’m ok with it! :) I agree about the Ahch-To set though. I’m not buying anything from the sequels but that’s such a nice little build with two good figures then I can’t pass it up. -

So nobody else has seen them and they're not on the usual (or unusual) places... but a new member has seen pics, or been sent pics, of the new sets and can write up a pretty detailed description of them... all from memory... as they can't find them. Either I'm sitting in a bath of scampi or there's something else that smells a little fishy. -
[PRESS RELEASE] 75192 - UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
Robianco replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Frustration of availability is one thing but I think it starts with this set and then if you like it you'll take the next large set by bootleggers because it's cheaper rather than it being available. They're hitting stores regularly in the UK now so the rest of Europe surely isn't far behind. Enjoy your bootleg. -
The Falcon seems to be arriving regularly in some of the larger UK Lego stores at the moment. I know of at least three stores that have had stock in over the last 10 days.

Reuters reported this year that Lego's sales figures in China have been growing by 25%-30% year on year. That doesn't sound like a company that's priced itself out of a market.

Looks like a prank video to me. No box and every part is from existing sets. Music is all over the place and production quality is terrible. Also... isn’t GNAJBricks just a play on Jang’s channel? -
I can't remember whether this is from UG Minifigures or Brothers Figure? Either way it's a clone of a recent custom figure.

I'm not sure I've made any comments on this thread since the first page or so but I'm not going to speculate about what could be released or what I'd like to see... I'm just glad something is coming... whatever it is. I will comment, as others have previously, about the popularity of Harry Potter and the Wizarding World that JK Rowling has created in general. It's still huge. Massive. The exhibition at the British Library is mostly sold out right up until it closes in March 2018. Cursed Child has been hugely successful at the theatre and has opened in Broadway as well as London's West End. WB Studio Tour in Watford is always booked well in advance with large crowds for each time slot. Events parks such as Universal are still hugely popular. The books are still hugely popular. The crowds at Kings Cross earlier this year with Platform 9 3/4 just go to show just how HP and his world are still very present in people's minds. Harry Potter has never been Star Wars. It wasn't created as the toy monster that SW is but it's popularity has spawned thousands of spin off items and other forms of revenue in much the same way. It will never be the toy and merchandise juggernaut that SW is... but nothing else will either. Let's not try and judge it by that example.

Christo’s version of that Batman figure sells for just under £1000. If this was DLP I’d be very excited about this release. I just hope Pogo fluke it somehow.

Leicester Square store has some in stock apparently. If you're around that way it might be worth popping in. -

Death of Lego Investing? Rerelease of Taj Mahal
Robianco replied to Doom2099's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think they've rereleased sets before... I can't place what it was but I seem to remember this happening. Sets will be updated such as the Falcon (and possibly the next UCS set) and we've already had the Snowspeeder and the Death Star in the Star Wars line. There's nothing to stop them doing a rerelease of most of the early moduiars. It'll certainly keep the scalpers on their toes. -

Not forgettting the full name of Mos Eisley’s most dubious watering hole is Chalmun’s Cantina. Hey... if we’re going to pin the chances of sets on every source or rumour we hear then we can’t rule out this CC can we? :) Obviously if there are figures circulating now that are legit then they won’t be from a Dec 2018 release. Either of these sets in a decent scale would be fantastic. -

The Greedo with Wuher and Han also had different leg printing that either of the previously released versions. Han was the DS version but I couldn’t place any part of Wuher from any previously released figures. It’s all conjecture at the moment and people like to play games like this placing iffy figures with leaked figures (remember Bespin Lando?) but these might still be legit. -
As long as they get the helmet and the torso right then everything else can be made perfect with the dual moulded legs from the beach set. Is that the Brothers Figure Supergirl, Paris Customs Alan Scott an UG Minifigures Captain Marvel there?

The member that posted that information is very reliable. They're not prone to making stuff up or just guessing. If they've said it's coming then as far as I'm concerned it's coming. As with RogueTwo I'm just hoping they surprise the crap out of us with a new canopy piece that we'll all want multiples of to update our snowspeeders. -
I love things like this. I've actually started to pick up a few Hot Toys / Sideshow figures and are mostly Imperials (although Han and Chewie are a must). The only Sideshow figure I have was the recent AT-AT Driver and he also had the light grey overalls and helmet/breathing gear. I was looking around and someone had a prop from ESB and I was surprised how grey it was... not even close to white. The screen bleaching from the early films really took that out of it... the attempt to add things like that back in with the over saturation was quite ham fisted. As much as the original Lego version shown with these figures reminds me of my original Kenner figure I actually much prefer the new colour scheme even with the sand blue. Strangely it may not seem screen accurate but may have actually been more accurate to what the actors were wearing.

Now there's a thought. Han looks like he's the DS version and Greedo looks like he has slightly different printing. If there is a Cantina set I hope it's something that can complement the last one. -
There's a customiser on Flickr called Cyclops Bricks. I'm pretty sure he used to do a lot of John's design work so maybe try him?

You actually see one waking in the background (I think) when Kylo is viewing things through the window early in the trailer but that’s the clearest photo I’ve seen so far. -

Wasn’t Stash’s comment relating to the Falcon rather than the ISD though? I didn’t think his comment related to an ISD in any way. People are looking for patterns in the packaging and seeing the silhouette. The team the ISD is in the Jakku poster is because that’s exactly where it was in the film so as a design standpoint adding that shape was obvious. Each time the Falcon has been in ‘action’ in space throughout the OT there’s has been an ISD or two present, escaping Tatooine, escaping Hoth or the Battle of Endor. The TIE fighter is on the UCS box because that’s how that scene played out in the film. -

The cropping just tells me someone with poor photoshop skills put it together. We’ve had Batman figures that were basically recolours so I wouldn’t rule it out. One definitely looks like the Hasbro figure and the helmet colouring is quite accurate to it... even the orange visor print. I have no vested interest in any of the figures as I don’t buy TFA or TLJ sets but I just hope that red helmet is legit. -

Yeah. Definitely looks like Tallie now I've looked at that A-Wing. Hopefully the other pilot is included and it's not in a ridiculously expensive set.
