Well, well. I see the hipsters have unloaded their Land Rover and are trying to get their outdoor gear onto the streetcar. I don't think the streetcar will get them to the white water down in the Ozarks. Seriously, that's a seriously great build. Wanna sell it? I'll thow in a cappuccino machine and some Maroon 5 CDs.

Sorry, don't know about the promo, but it sounds like you might have answered your own question.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Art Nouveau is moving in the right direction. I prefer Art Deco or streamline modern, but Art Nouveau would do just fine. -

By George, I think you've nailed it! We can only hope that Jamie draws inspiration from your idea! -
I'd say that anything coming out of their EOR distribution center near Memphis might possibly be subject to a weather delay this week. If your order doesn't show getting the minifig add on, I'd call their customer service for clarification. Also, I've had orders show 'in warehouse' for a day or two.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

All I'm asking for in the next modular is the incorporation of elements and colors from Friends and Elves along with a great story line and enhanced playability. Yep, that's the ticket. -
I like the modification. But, I think the blue right side of the building still needs to see the impact of a wrecking ball.

As of the time of this post, I can't even find it on the Lego Shop website. If it wasn't cold and icy, I'd make the less than two mile walk/drive over to the Lego store to see it in person (assuming they have it on display). But, given the weather, it just ain't worth it. Update.... It just let me put it in the cart and also showed the two freebies. However, I'm not buying it so it's a moot point for me.

What Lego-related thing did you do today?

Checked status of PAB order placed on January 23rd. I may have it by the end of this week. Heavy emphasis on 'may'. -
I'm retired. So, budget is no problem in the late fall of my life. With that said, I'm a sucker for large piece count sets despite what I might say. I'll probably buy a couple of the new TIE and the Sandcrawler. Of course, when I actually experience a buidling process involving over 300 pieces of the same small part, I may regret it (Sandcrawler). The TIE will probably be offered up to shut up one of my wife's friends children/grand children when they visit during a Stanley Cup play off game. 'Here, kid, take this, go upstairs with your Aunt and her friend and leave me alone.'

Well, in general, comments made on the Internet and 'thoughtfully backed' are mutually exclusive. And, when I comment, it's usually just an off the cuff remark based on my subjective feelings. For example, when I say the last two offerings in the modular building series 'suck', it's based on my subjective evaluation. Besides, this is a hobby. And, it's the Internet. I don't feel confined by the rules of evidence that I had to live by in the courtroom. Life is good on the Internet. Not many rules, not a lot of thought, just a gut feeling.

As a person who's moderately interested in Star Wars, this reminds me a lot of the the Sandcrawlers place, or lack of a place, in my collection. I have the X Wing and R2D2 and they make great display models. The color and shape of the Sandcrawler and the awkward design and huge proportions of the TIE fighter make it something I probably won't want to buy and display. With that said, I can appreciate the work the designers put into it and can understand why a dedicated SW collector would want it. Just not for me.

I got some starbucks stickers for my building off of eBay. As for this going to Lego ideas, well............I like how it looks, but I've been to starbucks all over and never seen one close to looking like this. As a creation, I love it. As a representation of a Starbucks, well, not so much. At least for the exterior. The interior is pretty much spot on. I'd vote for it on lego ideas, but piece count and Starbucks tie in might be barriers to its approval. Not to mention how much some people are turned off by the Starbucks brand. I'm at Starbucks every morning when they open, but I'm also aware of how much some people dislike the brand.

I saw that, but......Maybe so, in theory.....in reality, they need to live up to their own standards and vacate MY parking space.
-
I actually like it better than the original.
-
Hipsters are the future of the world. All of the good parking spaces at Starbucks are taken up for hours by hipsters who are inside using the free wifi. They buy the smallest size coffee and sit there for hours. Eurotrash, here's some help in getting you ready for the future..... http://m.wikihow.com/Be-a-Hipster

Outstanding. The only thing missing is the hipster with a tablet using the free wifi.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I've decided to skip some of these new releases that I'm not thoroughly interested in (like the helicarrier). Instead, I'm stocking up on PS. I've expanded the PS to 64 wide with an extra second floor. I've got three of the PS residential buildings side by side with one in various shades of blue. The next PS will be used to build another residential building in sand green with bricks from the HH. I should have enough parts left from other projects to build an additional apartment building in a lighter, earth tone color. A row of five or six--16 stud wide residential buildings. All similar, but with the type of subtle differences you see develop over the course of time. Modulars like GG, PS and even TH and GE were great parts sets for MOC creations. Sad to see the PS is rumored to soon be gone. -
^ Your use of only one door on the lower level of the pool hall is the way I feel it should be done. It looks good. Nicely balanced.
-
Wow! Everything about it works. Maybe your great creation will inspire the Lego design team.

Yes, situated between those two MOCs, the DO certainly looks like an inappropriate object in the proverbial punch bowl.
-
The two wonderful MOCs seem to validate a lot of the criticism that's been directed at the DO.

Having blown the doors off many of these back in the late 60s and early 70s when running MOPAR products on Telegraph Rd and Woodward Ave in Detroit, I'm can tell you from what I remember looking in the rear view mirror, this is a very accurate representation of the Ford product. Not sure about the back of the car, it looks good, but I never saw the back of one in the good old days. Nice work! -
I like the seven wide. And I certainly appreciate you designing a mode of transportion that any hipster can ride proudly whilst he views the world through his Google glasses. Nice work, indeed.

Edit.. Sorry, wrong answer.
