  1. As long as the next modular is three legitimate stories with an honest piece count, I'll be satisfied. The theme is largely irrelevant to me. I just ordered 300 masonry style bricks and seven dozen windows so that I can continue adding residential structures to my modular city. Of course, from May through September things are rather slow in my Modular City.
  2. Could you be a little more specific? You're describing almost every retailer in the USA.
  3. I don't understand German, but the best I can determine this is a scene where two old friends are greeting each other and looking forward to sharing a pitcher of beer. Of course, I was born and raised in Detroit so my paradigm may be different than most people's. I do like the buildings, too.
  4. Having bought and sold on EBay since 1998, listed price doesn't mean a lot to me. Even some of the 'sold' prices are questionable at times. I've seen unique (antique) items 'sell' for a ridiculously high amount only to reappear from the same seller again at a later date. TH seems to have settled in over here at around $600 USD. I mean, if you are late in getting to the modular hobby and have a good income, well, TH is still relatively reasonable at $600.
  5. For all of you modular enthusiasts, here's something to dream about.. http://northfulton.com/stories/LEGO-city-creation-in-Roswell,76836? This is about ten minutes from my house so I might have to drop in and take a look. Hope you enjoy the link.
  6. Setting appropriate boundaries for a child should not squash his dreams.
  7. TH has some good stuff if you're into MOCs at all. As for my TH, I expanded it so that its width covers three base plates. That adds five additional windows on each floor, each side. The proportions just look better to me when it's widened. I have NIB going back GG. Well, I just opened and built the GG. I can build the old ones while the children wait for their next second gen modular.
  8. Well, in searching completed EBay auctions, the high end of completed sales is in the area of $600 U.S. Still, not a bad return.
  9. Only two more weeks! Predictions? Dreams?
  10. Same with mine. Also, disappointed in the proportions as compared to the real thing. Probably one I'll give to one of the neighborhood kids. Not a keeper. Enjoyed the build, though...
  11. Well, Herky, if it's a greenhouse I'm sure your story will need to involve a substance other than cookies. And, btw, the apologists for TLG will always give you the reasons(s) why 2 1x2s are used instead of 1 1x4. As for the next modular, it will probably be one that's again geared towards children, or adults who don't want an adult product. Good for TLG and their sales goals as I'll again, like with the DO, have to buy several to create an MOC instead of something that looks like it belongs only in a eight year olds bedroom. But, wait and see with an open mind. There's always hope a 'first generation' style modular will appear for 2016.
  12. Once again, Herky, you've failed us by not providing a story line. The key component to any modular.
  13. The next modular is going to have a basement.
  14. While not an active golfer, I do enjoy watching The Open from St Andrews. What a beautiful setting. Just noticing all of the structures surrounding the course. Wouldn't the beauty and history of the buildings at St Andrews be a great Lego architecture theme? And, the build wouldn't be too repetitive.
  15. I'm imposing another 90 day suspension on myself. For my own state of mind. Enjoy.
  16. Works for me... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Lego-Modular-Building-Instructions-003-Hospital-/271281318189
  17. As far as the next modular goes, I'd like a single theme corner building. Hospital ,police station, bank. As far as residential buildings go, buy the PS while it's still available. It's a provides a great basis for residential buildings.
  18. I've done interiors in modulars. My own interiors. For me, it's a waste of parts for Lego to use part of the piece count on interiors. Especially when there are so many options for me to do on my own. As far as story line goes, well, if you need one.....use your imagination. Don't pay for someone else's vision of what's going on with the building. If the design is good, the buildings theme doesn't need an explanation. I remember when music videos were becoming popular. One artist said if you wrote a good song, you didn't need a video to explain it. Ditto for the designer videos when Jamie starts explaining things like cookie smugglers.
  19. I opened a NIB 10185 Green Grocer and started building a mirror image (reverse) build of the original. I mean, why keep these things around for years if you don't eventually have some fun with them, eh? To answer the obvious...my real investments are elsewhere.
  20. While not being the ultimate in authoritative sites, Wikipedia reads (in part): Modular Buildings Availability 2007–Present Total sets 10 (as of 2015) Modular Buildings is a series of Lego building toy sets introduced in 2007. Created in response to feedback and suggestions from the Adult Fans of Lego (AFOL), and the Teen Fans of Lego (TFOL) community, the sets in this series are generally intended for more advanced builders with most sets containing more than 2,000 total pieces and making use of unorthodox building techniques which have not been tried before in official Lego sets. In contrast to most LEGO sets which are aimed at children and adolescents, the suggested age of most sets in the Modular Buildings series is 16 years or older. The Modular Buildings sets have been received with positive reviews, being considered by Lego designers and fans as "toys for adults". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I think the ship has pretty much sailed on that analysis, as least as far as the 'toys for adults' part is concerned. I look for another set that wastes resources on non structural pieces, has a child oriented story and moves modular closer to being a child's toys. No complaints, just saying that's the trend I see.
  21. Sticker issues aside, I totally agree. Doesn't do Ferrari justice. Maybe a larger scale using a larger piece count would have been successful. Outside of the Ferris wheel, it's been a tough year for me.
  22. Nice work. Largely because of stability issues (both the set's and my own), I found 10181 to be the most challenging Lego set that I've built. But, as shown by your outstanding work, the effort is well worth it. Even more so when it's super sized like yours.
  23. Nice work. Really captures the feeling of the season. Ever thought of adding a shark fin?
  24. Great promotion by the Giants dynasty. Looks like it might be on steroids, though....
  25. Outstanding. From what I've seen, it appears to be very difficult to accurately capture the design of a sports car using Lego. You've been more than successful. I only hope that it will be available at the retail level one day.
