Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Off the wall replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
If true, it's sad. PS, at least to me, has been one of the definitive modulars. I was hoping it would be to modulars what the Death Star is to the Star Wars theme. A cornerstone. A set that would be there for a long, long time. I'd find it hard to start a modular city now with so many of the classics gone. Especially with the three sets that will remain available. Of course, with the modular line being pulled away from the original intent (appealing to AFOLs), I guess its probably a moot point, anyway. -
Agree.

The Dr Who decision is great for Dr Who fans. So, good for them. Not saying it isn't 'awesome', but I have no interest in Wall E, but good for those who do. The big test, at least in my opinion, is whether or not Lego has interest in Ideas sets with large piece counts. And, the natural history museum should give me an indication as far as that goes.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Same reason I don't have a Flickr account. Laziness and a reluctance to change. I'd read TLGs boiler plate, but I'm still curious as to why not expedited shipping for an extra fee. -

Due to peer pressure..... :-) ....... I'm trying to do interiors. So, I find myself needing the services of pick a brick. Has TLG/DHL ever offered an expedited shipping service? I mean, I'd pay more to get stuff here faster. TLG seems to fill the orders promptly. Having spent a long time in transportation/logistics, I think I know how DHL handles the shipments to the USA. I just wish I could pay more to reduce the wait time. -
Lynch has a new pick up truck in the alternate universe. And a trip to Disney World.

Or, in memory of my old hometown, 'house for sale.....Detroit'.

Seattle lost on what could possibly be the worst decision ever made in the history of sports.

Don't know where you live, but in many places (over the course of the past decade), Lego investment has had a far better return than investing in a house. :-)

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I'd love to see the 3500 piece MOC. As far the budget goes, just tell the rest of the family that some sacrifices will need to be made. :-) -
Great idea. Earth tones are great basic colors as they give you so many options with trim colors.

My own person taste, and this is purely based on what I like, would say that the groove in the sand green brick is more important than the color of the brick. Texture over color. So, if I were to brick link it, I'd go with blue since the grooved blue brick is apparently more cost effective.

Yep. He's motivated me. I have two PS that look more like they're just shoved together. When my wife is at the mall tomorrow, I'll have her pick up another PS so I can do it right. No LDD. I'll just start with a demo of the areas that join the two current PS and then use trial and error to work towards a more aesthetically pleasing expanded PS.

That's really nice. Great design and execution.

As some one who's started expanding these modulars, it's tricky getting the measurements correct. The Ferrari garage is good because he actually took the time to make it seamless. So many of the mods involving expansion look like they were simply pushed together or, in the case of the DA, cubes were rearranged or restacked. When merging two buildings, sometimes you end up with a second floor where the roof needed is either two studs wider or two studs narrower than you were expecting. It looks easy, but requires a lot of thought, measurement and experimentation to get it as right as this guy did. Or, skill like ADGonline obviously has. The symmetry on the second and third floors is excellent. Granted, I'm a little eccentric and wasteful, but if I'm combining two buildings.....I like to have three sets available to make sure I have all the parts I need.

There's a lengthy thread on this site about the DO. Mixed views, lots of nice mods. -

Even though I'm terribly upset about Suge Knights latest misfortunes, I can concentrate enough to appreciate your efforts in interpreting the Louvre and giving me a good idea of what to expect when Lego releases the official set. Thanks! -
I'm not all that familiar with the theme. But, as an outsider, it looks great to me. And, I'll buy any Lego product with this many pieces.............regardless of the theme.

My first impression is a very positive one. Can't wait to see it on store shelves. Thanks for the link!
