  1. I apologize if I formatted the poll wrong. First time I've used one IIRC. I also apologize if this topic shouldn't exist. I've seen both love and hate for the later years of BIONICLE, and I'm curious as to what the older fans (the ones that were actually there for them) think of them. So, after 5+ years to weigh the pros and the cons of each year what do you guys think of them? edit: modified the poll
  2. Thanks for the clarification, I was very confused at Penkid's comment about "Big Bang" sets
  3. Now we have two topics for 2016 discussion? Going by the NINJAGO threads' track record, this isn't going to end very well. I never understood why people like the Bohrok so much. I bought one off of eBay last year during BFTGM and I don't see why people so highly regard them. They can turn into a ball but they can't roll anywhere, and keeping them in their "hive" only has so much value and I hope we don't see any Bohrok-like villain in the future. Edited incorrect information.
  4. They said it was just a cameo. THE INFECTION CONTINUES TO SPREAD. Just kidding, Chima isn't that bad. Still though, it's a very unusual name for a set, and I can't see how tigers (or objects named after them) are going to fit in very well with sky pirates.
  5. Seeing as it's still a rumor at this point and we're basically just wishlisting now, it would be a good idea to move discussion of 2016 stuff here before we incur the wrath of an Admin
  6. Sigh, there goes all hope of seeing G1-y piston pieces ever again. Not that there was much hope to begin with.
  7. Fingers crossed for titan-scale Ekimu and evil Protectors. That would be an excellent way to start off the year, but I'm really curious to see how they are going to differentiate the Toa from this year's forms without straying too far from the original designs (looking at you, G1) but at the same time without being outright clones of their former selves. Maybe they could develop a new gearbox based on a differential system? Getting the function to work properly without being too bulky or distracting would be difficult, but I'm sure LEGO could find a way.
  8. Rare? Hardly. 2001 featured four sets above the $30 price, and 2002 featured only two. From 2005 to 2008, each year contained at least three sets above the $30 price tag (2008 did also have the rebranded Jetrax, which I have not included for obvious reasons). 2009 itself contained four sets above the $30 price tag, and 2010 continued on with only a single set reaching this price range. It was only in 2012 in which this price range returned, the lackluster Speeda Demon set. Still, apparently it was successful enough to warrant LEGO developing Jet Rocka at the exact same price tag, and yet again in 2014 at the same price came out Queen Beast (which, might I add, costs $60 where I live ). Large-scale non-combiner sets above $30 were not rare at all, they were featured in every year in BIONICLE except for 2003, 2004 and 2010, less than a third of BIONICLE's run. Admittedly, a quite a few were System sets - but they still count. Vehicle sets themselves in BIONICLE's later years weren't always incredibly expensive, a fair amount of them came below $30. I find it very interesting that LEGO found the System sets profitable enough to keep them going for three years, and that BIONICLE's vehicles were profitable enough in 2008 to warrant the production of the most expensive set release, Scopio, in 2009 and continuing into HERO Factory's first year, albeit at far smaller prices.
  9. edit: just realized my stupidity. Ignore this.
  10. Piraka! He would have said so if Legomilk had. Beside the "quote" and "multiquote" buttons on one of your own posts you will find a button marked "edit". You can use the edit button to modify your post after submission so that you can correct spelling mistakes or make additions (such as the post I am responding to) without making a separate post entirely. Please try and use this in the future, as posting directly after your own post is frowned upon here (if I recall correctly, there *may* be some situations in which it is okay, but you'll want to check with an Admin such as Peppermint_M) As for the steam punk vehicle, no, we do not have anything confirmed right now.
  11. They absolutely are not near me. Usually there'll be 3+ sets per Toa, but there's always stacks of Protectors lying around - especially Vizuna and Nilkuu. Dangit I wanted to make that joke.
  12. I don't think they're referencing G1 a great deal at all. I actually prefer G1's plots and sets, but I don't see anything wrong with referencing G1 every now and again. Admittedly, the Vahi being everywhere is pretty stupid if they aren't going to do/hint at anything serious, but it's nothing too bad. Since the preview of Island of Lost Masks G2 has been oozing atmosphere to me, and it's set itself apart enough from G1 for me that I don't have to compare the two to appreciate either one. There's enough major changes between even characters that in-jokes and references don't bother me. Take for example, Kopaka's physical sword and shield gave him the look of a knight, whereas Tahu's almost elemental flame-sword and his Hau's shielding capability, creating an elemental parallel that continued into their personalities. This has been changed in G2 to give Kopaka's shield the ability to create a bubble shield which basically defeats the point of giving him a shield in the first place , while Tahu has... eh, I'm not sure yet. From what little I've seen (and please forgive me, I'm bound to get something wrong) the G1 team were reluctant to work together except in dire circumstances, and was solid, whereas the G2 Toa quickly learn (but just as quickly forget) that they need to work together and seem like a very rowdy, diverse group. I don't see G2 as being similar to G1 simply because they want to cater to the older fans, G1 and G2 are very separate to one another in a lot of different ways, and aside from the Toa's names and the Golden Masks I don't see a great deal of similarities.
  13. Spotted the Jay Walker One at a local KMart today, didn't find any other sets though.
  14. I was under the assumption that they had been somewhat active, or at least dormant (Grinder certainly hasn't been) the entire time?
  15. The skeletons have had centuries, if not millenia, to "redecorate" the place, there's no reason as to why Slicer, despite lacking elemental powers, couldn't have altered the place into an elaborate deathtrap for anyone other than himself. The arena looking neutral is the point I was making, it's literally a second Atero. There's no reason as to why the pit couldn't be filled with all kinds of ridiculous deathtraps and the like. NINJAGO's Tournament of Elements did a fantastic job creating unique arenas, and Chima's own Speedorz track was interesting enough by itself. Perhaps they'll expand on the city and its locations (it is ruined, after all) but somehow I doubt it.
  16. Simply beautiful. Where did you get the golden Krana though? I wasn't even aware those existed
  17. So apparently we're going to get an entire mini-series revolving around Chen, Clouse and Chen's Chair (best love triangle we've had yet ). Regarding season 5's ending and the season 6 sneak peak,
  18. Segregating the tribes isn't necessary to make locations look more elemental. In the case of the Arena, it makes no sense why there's nothing but fire and moving walls especially when the guy that more or less lives there is meant to represent Jungle of all things. Throughout the city, there's literally only water and plantlife both before and after it was abandoned. Making some of the elements more clearly seen doesn't mean that every villager has to live next door to whatever their tribe represents.
  19. Not quite what I meant. What I meant was that there's nowhere showing that this city had anything truly unique to it. It's clearly an important location that is very detailed here and there with Okotoan style, but there's nothing to set any area apart from another. For instance, Ta-Koro was built on a lake of fire, Ga-Koro was a lily pad village, Le-Koro was built high up in the trees, and so on. There's not really much to suggest that any of the tribes actually ever lived here other than the narrator saying they did once. I don't think it's unreasonable for some locations (keeping in mind the ruined theme) such as the Arena to have taken on a more elemental approach to the designs.
  20. I'm really not liking the aesthetic of the ancient city ta-ko-po-onu ga le koro City of the Mask Makers. It looks flat and boring, very (ironically) 2-dimensional without anything unique to set it apart like the original Koro (koros? koroes?). I really hope we don't see it too much in the future.
  21. I don't care if the set version lunges forward by itself, you sir, deserve a cookie
  22. My copies of Toa Mata Gali and Onua arrived today, and I am amazed at how incredibly well the Mata hold up to their 2015 counterparts. Onua hasn't aged as well as Gali, the dark grey on him (like most pieces in that color) looks grimy and disgusting, and on a whole I like 2015 Onua better in all ways except the gear function. Gali, however, I like far more than 2015 Gali simply because of the color alone. I'm incredibly impressed with these, and looking forward even more to recieving Lewa, Kopaka and Pohatu in the coming days!
  23. Brutaka is still cooler
