Eh, I would still recommend getting him anyway just for his parts/his combiner model with Grinder (it's worth it).

Bought Skull Scorpio today. Single-handedly the absolute worst set I have ever had the misfortune of owning.

Hulk-Smash missed a number of lines, but at the very least we've got hope for new info soon.

I said restored versions At the time I wrote that I had just bought MMvsSG, and didn't realize the hook blade looked fine. The skull blade however looks pretty ancient and like it needs fixing. Fits with the skellies, but it'd need some work if it were to fit with the Toa.

- Two predecessors, Atlantis and Power Miners. - Two and a half, and IIRC it was because they didn't want the line turning into another BIONICLE. I do not recall if that was the case, but the line had enough steam going that this year was HUGE and next year was meant to be even larger before the film got delayed. What does this even have to do with no prior history to the line? - What giant robots? You mean the one that appeared at the end of an overly convoluted 8-year long storyline, or it and the other one that appeared at the end of a failed reboot? - Slizers and Roboriders was a predecessor to G2? I mean sure, they're somewhat related because of G1, but aside from that they've had little to no influence. But if you're going to insist that they count, then HF will still count no matter what. - Do you do any research? I will admit I was sorely understating how successful the sets where in 2004-2006 (sales peaked in 2002), but that's because of how successful the original three were in comparison to the rest of them. - It did. HF's sales were never fantastic, but it sold well enough that they could continue it for some time. - How many are active? How many are duplicate accounts? How many are there explicitly for BIONICLE, and how many have joined simply because it's one of the largest fan websites? And no, I don't "get" what you were saying. Not even 10% of LEGO's sales are from AFOLs, and that "10%" is a very, very large overestimate. Last I knew it was around 5%, but times have changed. 45-50% of BIONICLE sales coming from active members of the online community is a ridiculously large number, I'd be surprised if it was over 3%. G2 has had far more this year than I would have expected otherwise. Two years ago I avoided BIONICLE like the plague, and when G2 first leaked my curioity got the better of me and I'm impressed with how much we've had, and I hold Power Miners, Atlantis, Agents and Exo-Force very close to my heart, not to mention the dedication I once held to NINJAGO. We're in a bit of a dry season for story stuff, but there's been enough to keep discussion going which is always good. If this year has been successful enough, we'll surely see more next year.

Let's compare the context of their releases, shall we? NINJAGO: - Had two highly successful predecessors - No prior history - Ninja BIONICLE G2: - Had two highly debatable predecessors - The original predecessor of the same name and similar plot was highly successful twelve years ago - Original predecessor's reboot failed spectacularly despite its sizable marketing project (!) - Second predecessor only sold what it needed to to survive - Relatively large and very toxic fanbase NINJAGO had a reason for a larger advertising budget than BIONICLE G2 for a number of reasons. Just because it has a large fanbase and nostalgia isn't an excuse to go all-out on marketing. NINJAGO's demographic had been tested in the past two years for how well it would work in theory. BIONICLE G2 did not and does not have the same luxury. G2's story is heavily based on 2001, which was fifteen years ago now. The marketing campaign for BIONICLE is very comparable to NINJAGO's as it is. Have you done any research, any at all, into a single thing you've said?

"If they really wanted to spend money on the BIONICLE series" I think that's a perfectly fine summary of everything wrong with what you are trying to say, and to me it really comes across as the driving factor of why LEGO has not done anything you listed. LEGO's goal as a company is NOT to spend money. If LEGO's goal was to spend money, G1 would still be running today regardless of sales. LEGO at this stage wants to spend only as much money as they need to to get the line off the ground and profitable, and if it becomes as profitable as, say, NINJAGO they will boost the budget as much as they think will be reasonable for what is essentially a marketing campaign. It isn't LEGO's job to cater to fans on internet forums, but it is very nice when they listen to the (reasonable) desires of the community. It isn't LEGO's job to spend money, it's to make the right decisions that will give them the right amount of profit. Making high-quality products ties into this, and so does not overspending on a line that has not yet proven itself.

We've had more sets this year for BIONICLE than we did Agents' or the original Batman line's full run, as well as Exo-Force's first or second year. All three of those lines are fan favorites, too. BIONICLE's got it better than most realize.

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
Mandate replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
It's heavily implied season 6 will have something to do with the other realms, but so far from what little we've seen I'm not sure how much of a connection we'll see. There's not enough information at this point to make an accurate enough guess.- 4,591 replies

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
Mandate replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Ultra Agents does not exist in Ninjago, Paleman and Tox's appearances were the only thing from Ultra Agents that ever made it in, and that's a fact. Their names are different from their UA counterparts, and their backstories are completely different with zero references, and outright denial, of the UA version. As for "realms", you're really misusing the term. There are 16 Realms that exist either alongside or including Ninjago, currently consisting of Ninjago itself, the Cloud Kingdom, the Dark Realm, the (now destroyed) Cursed Realm and Chima. The ten that remain are unknown we'll find out about soon enough. As I was saying though, to call TLM a realm (even in quotation marks) is blatantly missing the point of what a realm is to NINJAGO's canon. TLM exists so far completely outside of NINJAGO, the only real shared theme between the two is Lloyd showing up, and that was as canon to NINJAGO as TLM's BIONICLE reference was to BIONICLE. Personally seeing Chima sharing the same overall universe with NINJAGO was too much. NINJAGO's lore is just going to feel cheap and less true to itself if they continuously introduce other themes in the mix. At the end of the day, there isn't really any point to making other themes part of NINJAGO's canon, especially when NINJAGO outlives them (most notably in the case of Clutch Powers).- 4,591 replies

Nah, I just go with the terminology you guys use around here. Far easier, although I have once or twice mixed up summer and winter waves when talking to IRL friends as a result

I'm not Jetrax99, but personally I wouldn't. I would remain here knowing full well that if leaks had have come out, I would have been able to freely discuss them with other users. I respect BZPower's stance on leaks and I respect their administration's choices on the matter. That being said, there's a fine line between having the ability to discuss leaks when they come out and not being able to discuss them either way. In theory, there is no difference: leaks are not discussed either way. In reality, I would stick with EB anyway not for the sheer virtue of being able to discuss them, but because I know that if and when something leaks I'm going to be able to talk about them and not have a gag in my mouth. For me though, I just don't like BZPower's community, but when it comes to the leaks policy I do prefer EB.

Title says it all, out of the vehicle sets LEGO gave us during G1's run which ones were the best? "Creature and rider" sets are included, as well as mechs, even if they may not be vehicles in the traditional sense. I apologize for the length of the list, vote on as many of them as you need to. Well, what are you waiting for? Vote! edit: the poll did not work, sorry. If an Admin could delete this thread, that would be good.

Frankly I'm glad the leaks were fake. Several things I personally didn't like about them, and I will actually give credit to Nekchir for fooling most of the community. That being said, I'm also glad this has happened. It's going to serve as a wake-up call for those that haven't had one yet, and seeing as most of the community will probably shun him now (he's just been banned for over two centuries on TTV's boards ) these events will serve as a solemn warning to anyone else that wants to knowingly spread fake leaks. So, with that out of the way, I'm hoping we see a large amount of new molds created. I wasn't here for G1's run, so I'd love it if each Toa set had at the very least two new mask molds (Kualsi please?), a new weapon mold and across each of them a new torso, new feet and new shells/add-ons would be great too. Pohatu needs to have tan to offset his silver, it's ridiculous when he has more silver than brown (perhaps it was to remove some of the "yuck" factor of a brown color scheme to a kid, and to help HF fans ease into having no silver character?), but he did do a good job of establishing brown as his main color. Probably not going to happen, but a special edition "flashback" set with Makuta pre-MoUP sort of like how they released the Toa Hagah would be great as well.

Back on the subject of the creatures (no, I don't trust Nekchir's descriptions at this point), does anyone remember the scorpion-man statues at the shrine for Pohatu's golden mask? Perhaps the Summer wave will be humanoid versions of the creatures?

I disagree. Mata green is a dark (but thankfully not Metru dark) shade of green, the new green is a light green and there's a noticeable difference between the two of them, and I've actually got Lewa Mata's Miru right next to one of the new bright green shells. I think the brighter shade of green might have been the driving force behind giving Lewa Keetorange, lime and bright green look awful next to each other.

Found all (or most?) of the sets at my local KMart today, except for Styx.

Yeah, I modified mine shortly after I finished building it with the pin technique. I would assume it's too tight to be considered a "legal" technique, it might warp the plastic over time unlike the normal heads. Speaking of which, why did they even bother custom-building the top section of the mask stand when they simply could have put a ball joint and a head without an eye stalk there? It's simpler, easier and works far better than the current version.

Bought Mask Grinder VS Skull Maker MMvsSG today. Instant favorite, and there's not much I can complain about really. Grinder's arm actually can hold up his weapon in some (very few) poses, and Ekimu is better than most Toa! That being said, I didn't like the underbite the MoCr has, and I think his Protector mask actually suits him better. Skull Grinder is pretty cool, but for the "big bad" of the year it's kinda sad that he's no match for Ekimu. Also that useless mask stand, I cannot overstate how useless it is. I really like Grinder's staff, it's capable of pulling most masks off easily, and his overall look is incredibly well done, even if his skelleton bones are a little... thin.

Possibly going to buy one of the Skull Villains tomorrow. Probably can't get MMvsSG, so which set is the best by itself (and its respective Toa, of course)?

He's part of a combiner set with Kopaka, a la Ekimu and Kulta, Maxilos and Spinax, Vezon and Fenrakk, etc. Ekimu is a tad bit larger than Narmoto, and I'm fairly certain the two would almost balance each other out. And then you've got Spinax, who was definitely on the scale of a canister set but was definitely larger than, say, Ehlek. Chances are, Melum is going to gobble up a small bit of what "belongs" to Kopaka, but it shouldn't be too much. So he's probably going to be worth about $12-$15, give or take.
