  1. 1) They're both jet fighters 2) They both feature a very similar design 3) The outcome of the features are exactly the same at their basic concept: the wings extend. It's a rehash of the same concept. If I recall correctly, your own brother avoided buying the Kai Fighter because of its heavy similarities to the Storm Fighter. Is it a rehash in a bad way? No, not at all. But they are undeniably similar, sharing the same core features.
  2. Then what of the Storm Fighter and Kai Fighter? The sets were mostly different in form, but in function and trace parts of the aesthetic they're incredibly similar. Blade-tipped wings, wing extension function, dual-tail wings, etc... there wasn't a lot of improvement between sets either. Anyway, I apologize for forgetting sets like the NinjaCopter and Boulder Blaster.
  3. -Cole's Tread Assault, X-1 Ninja Charger, Jay Walker One, Jungle Raider, DB Xpress, (Zane vehicle missing) -Samurai Mech, Golden Mech, Fire Mech, Earth Mech, Electro Mech, Titan Mech -Wisp, Shard, Flame, Rocky, Ultra Dragon, Golden Dragon, Titanium Dragon, Master Wu Dragon -Blade Cycle (X-1 Bike, DBX Bike (noncanon)), Blaster Bike There's a bunch of other different vehicles, such as the jet fighters, hoverboards, and half-treads, but as you can see there are some gaps in the types of vehicles per character. From that, we can guess what forms of future sets we will get.
  4. Again, what does that have to do with what I said? I was disputing whether or not needles and hay would have come up in a conversation in such a small time, I was not claiming that they did not exist on Okoto. Please read through what I said.
  5. What does that have to do with what I said?
  6. Yes, but have any of the Toa been capable of in such a short amount of time (few weeks alone with a Protector) learning what a needle is, let alone hay, and then finding out/creating a metaphor using the two? I'm not really sure if we can say the Okotoan culture can be called "closer" to human culture/s in comparison to Gen 1, after all, the Matoran played sports, created art, had a significant (in comparison to Gen 2) number of religious beliefs, created machinery (Boxor comes to mind), and so on.
  7. When did Kai and Jay get hoverboards in-set?
  8. What? It's a bit of a stretch to say DeeVee (apologies, I'm still not sure how to refer to you?) was targeting Makuta. That's how an argument works, one person speaks, the other then speaks, then the first person that spoke speaks again and so on until the conflict is resolved. If DeeVee was targetting Makuta, this would have been an ongoing series of attacks rather than a single discussion over whether or not the new animation style is "cheap" (which it isn't). DeeVee is not targeting Makuta at all, he's simply responding to an ongoing series of claims made by Makuta. If DeeVee were to be targeting anyone, it would be demonstrably visible in an ongoing series of isolated incidents between him and another user (which this is not).
  9. Sadly, as much as I want to agree with you, I doubt this is the case. If LEGO truly thinks kids can only use red pins, they almost certainly wouldn't run the risk of running a line for a blockbuster movie and a TV show of the same name simultaneously, especially after what happened to BIONICLE at that stage. Still, though, it works for Hasbro, so hopefully I'm wrong.
  10. Relevancy? Yes, time is important to the story. But it is not a theme. With your quote of Merlin Mann, you've missed the point entirely. What Merlin was saying in that quote is that "A lot of time has passed, but we didn't make it too clear in the story which made the timespan seem shorter than it was". He's saying that more time has passed than most people think. The time between Ekimu's death slumber's beginning and the Toa's arrival has little to no effect on the story at this current moment, save for some buildings being ruined. Time is never a concept dwelled on in the minisodes in the few instances it is brought up, and has very little effect on the overall story.
  11. Ah, sorry. I had forgotten about that.
  12. You do realize that the NINJAGO movie is not going to be canonical to the TV show? Likely case scenario LEGO was planning to axe the "normal" line and replace it with TNM. It's going to be a reboot regardless of whether or not the current story continues. In all honesty, I'm disappointed with the delay. I wanted to see a reset of canon, even if it was melded with every other line, after the disaster it's become by the end of season 4. edit: After reading through the "Lloyd Messenger" stuff from LEGO Club I'm a bit more comfortable with them continuing the main line for now. They did a good job at hinting at some things. Also, Wu in his version of bling
  13. - When? - Vahi =/= time - Temple of Time, not time itself - Unconfirmed - Unconfirmed - Irrelevant Not a massive focus at all. Time has zero relevance to the story right now, other than the "passage of time" which is a given in every story. Now, tell me, exactly what does time itself have to do with the story at this point? The answer is: nothing. There's no time travel, there's no slowing down of time, and there's no speeding up of time either. The Vahi is not a "theme" simply because its likeness appears everywhere, it needs to have actively implied relevance and direct usage in the story itself. Destiny was a core them of the original BIONICLE because it was everywhere; every character had a destiny and a role to play no matter how insignificant or grand it might be. Unity was a core theme because defeating Makuta depended on the Toa being a team and their elemental powers. Duty was a core theme because of how it related to destiny, but overall it was less notable than the other two. Time is barely even a concept in the new line, and it's definitely out of the limelight for the moment. Side-note: Can someone explain to me how time travel = dimension jumping?
  14. I don't think we can really call "time" the, or a, core theme yet. In comparison to the movie Mask of Light, destiny was a core theme of the film. Why? Because that was the focus of the adventure: Takua's destiny of becoming the seventh Toa and subsequently doing nothing for 4 more years. At the moment, time itself is never referenced to. Sure, there was a Temple of Time, but it had nothing to do with time, rather timing. Other than that, there's no mention of time anywhere. The Vahi is present oh so frequently, but it's only white noise, it's has no revealed relevance to the story. Keep in mind most kids aren't even going to have the faintest idea of what the Vahi is or does unless they delve into the old lore (which is a likely possibility many dismiss) but most kids that do notice the Vahi aren't going to associate it, or the line itself, with time at all, simply because they have no clue as to what it does or means.
  15. So, plastering the Vahi over everything is a way of saying "We're fans too!" and not a creepy mask fetish?
  16. Oh, don't you worry. Over here those prices translate directly (by recent examples) to: $30, $40, $50 and $60.
  17. That Kai minifgure... beautiful. Also, the elemental emblems/insignias/whatevers lose their "stylization" which I'm glad to see. Did they really have to implement his scar, though? As for Morro and Wrayth, I don't like them. They look suitably "ghost-y", but having both legs transparent yet with armor in place looks out of place to me. I know it's meant to represent their spirit or ectoplasm, but it still looks odd to me. All three have superb printing, but I'm not too interested in them overall. So says just2good
  18. Yuck. I'm only getting Obi Wan and Grievous now. I never liked Vader, and Jango ruins Cody and what little respect I had for Luke by being a clone build of them with some minor differences (such as Luke's upper arm being one pinhole shorter). Jango and Cody being clone builds makes a lot of sense, really, but when every other $20 set features the same basic build that novelty is lost.
  19. That's awesome. There's no other way I can describe it.
  20. Why would Ekimu of all characters have platinum colored shells?
  21. It likely will never feature them. Those torso shells are specifically designed for the largest torso bone, so not only are they highly specialized in their style even without printing, the likelihood that they of all torso shells being used for a titan-scale BIONICLE set is small.
  22. I'm surprised no one has replied yet. Excellent job as always, Rayskull. This is easily one of your best Protector revamps yet!
  23. Jeesh, no need to be rude. I thought it was a new recolor because there's also what looks like light-grey versions of the smallest bone. Sorry.
  24. ...wow. These are much better than what was revealed at Toy Fair. Obi-Wan doesn't look nearly as "constraction-y" thanks to his cape being attached in front of his torso bone but before the shell. He's almost a guaranteed buy for me at this point. Grievous, however... not too fussed on him. I'm very surprised at how similar his construction is to ye olde BIONICLE, double-limbs and backwards leg armor for lower arms. It look's like they've designed him so that you can combine each set of arms into one, which is a great throwback to the movies. I'm finding most of the armor placement very... strange, for shoulder armor he uses a 2.0 torso shell with an upside-down Super Heroes chest. EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention: LIGHT-GREY FRICTION EXTENDERS!
  25. Just bought "Rokit" as my first Mixels purchase. It immediately became my last Mixels purchase too once I finished building it. The only good surprise was the Nixel that I wasn't expecting, and even then I hated that too.
