Voting thread Week 1 Guerrilla Attacks v. Week 2 Counters
Basiliscus replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
I have voted. Great entries from everyone! Well done One comment SkaForHire: I found the voting somewhat confusing! Do we need to separate out the votes into two separate votes? (e.g. Challenger vs Best Counter builder, then choose the counter building from a separate list). This means someone could choose the challenger and someone from the other list? Is this intentional? If we only need to decide who won can't they all go onto one vote per grid square? Or is important to decide who won out of the counter-builds? -
Really nice boat (and lovely use of lime green!) but the underwater section steals the show! Very clever!

This is a really great take on a guerilla build, very nice work. I love the use of the masonry bricks behind the archway, but a minor complaint would be the room looks a bit "empty". Maybe some decoration (e.g. a vase with flowers) would make it seem more natural?

Nice work robuko! Love the forced perspective and your attention to detail on the Everlast feel.

Incredible work cesbrick! Amazing detail, I can't begin to imagine how you managed to continue building those incredibly detailed walls, I think I'd have given up... The dark blue roofs look great and it has a great sense of scale. Love it! To add to what cesbrick already said - usually I would say build what you are comfortable with and add a small amount of parts each time - with enough patience you will have a huge collection and can begin to build on this scale!

Amazing work! A stunning MOC with such great detail all round. Love those trees!

I don't see why that would be a problem! The more you can make your build "come alive" the better! As long as the post contains a MOC, songs, poetry, stories, etc, all help to add to the Historica experience. Welcome back Kayne! I hear you're fighting for Ulandus...good choice! Yeah you should be careful...but I'd say of the Desert King! So far, they seem to have some tough to beat builds! Shame you can't help me sell my flat, the market is in a terrible state here in Scotland - we made the mistake of buying a cheap flat (in a not so great area) in a town that turns out to be very middle class. We're having a tough time convincing anyone to buy it! Yes, it's our first baby so we are both really excited. I'm still in the process of convincing my wife that the LEGO is 'mine' and when our child is old enough they need to get their own! Thanks SkaForHire! Shame that isn't the case for me - the spare bedroom of our 2 bedroom flat is pretty big but I had floor-to-ceiling boxes that made it look smaller. I can't disagree that from a sale point of view it helps the room look bigger, but the last 15 months has been hard - it made me realise how much time I spent with LEGO. First world problems, I know, but there you go.- 272 replies

Book II, Chal IV - Kaliphlin Civil War (Results Posted)
Basiliscus replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
I couldn't agree more! The whole concept is fantastic and a credit to SkaForHire. Everyone is getting involved and it's great to see. Thanks for your enthusiasm! I am cheering for Ulandus, but it will be a lot of shouting and not much action I am afraid. I can't build at the moment as my LEGO is in storage while I try and sell my house (15 months and no luck so far) as my estate agent thought it made our room look bigger (and to be fair, he is correct). I'm also having a baby in 8 weeks (actually my wife is! ) ! So I will only be supplying moral support! Go Ulandus!- 272 replies

Thanks for the suggestion, but if you're thinking of the Series 10 Mohawk then I'm not sure that is correct. I think it doesn't look as tall?

Fantastic work, love the battle scenes. I didn't realise that Petera was so talented in battle! Makes me wonder how he hasn't defeated Dugal yet...!- 18 replies

Brilliant work SkaForHire. This whole story arc has been so well written and I think this is shown in how many great entries there have been already. You've clearly inspired everyone to dust off the bricks!- 14 replies

Brilliant work MassEditor! Love the aqueduct design. The story is fantastic and your photography is top-notch, everything is crystal clear. Shame to see all these great Desert King MOCs...!

Very nice idea for the counter MOC, well done!

Lovely work Paul. The tan and white building is masterful. Love the minifig posing, gives a good sense of fleeing some carnage. In the second picture the minifig on the left has a kind of "Mohawk" haircut, what set is that from?

Unsuspecting Ulandian. [WZ4:H9, Desert King]
Basiliscus replied to Lord Vladivus's topic in Guilds of Historica
You've done well to show what feels like a war-told building in such a small footprint. The poor Ulandian soldier looks like he suspects something is up... Without knowing fully my gut feeling with regards to the photo is that the light source was in front of the camera (the shadows are coming towards the camera). Generally, this is bad as the camera struggles to get a good exposure. Try having the light behind the camera for better photos. Hope you don't mind the friendly advice!- 22 replies

A King Reborn (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 18)
Basiliscus replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
You should be writing books man! Fantastic story, had me gripped from start to finish. Loving that each character has a complex and yet believable backstory. Adds greatly to the overall tale. One other point I wanted to make is your dialogue lines are very well written. Keep up the incredible work! -
Wow, soccerkid6! This is amazing! Where do I start? Very natural rockwork supporting the castle, and very innovative solution to crossing the moat. Really "believable" landscaping outside too. Top work

Gates of Dinas Brynmor (HSS Military)
Basiliscus replied to Hammerhand's topic in Guilds of Historica
Beautiful build! The wall and gatehouse and mightily impressive, it's nice to see a LEGO fortification that is large enough for riders to get through without looking like they could vault onto the walls. The inside landscaping and buildings are really nice, and your minifig use is excellent. I agree with Gideon that the exterior landscaping could be improved, but that's only a minor point. Look forward to hearing more of Ferinwæld and its people. -
The landscaping is great LittleJohn! Love the palm leaf pieces as the undergrowth, and those trees are so cute! Good job that the assassin was stopped!
