  1. We in Scotland would call this "banter". Basically, @Henjin_Quilones is the leader of Avalonia, and is therefore lamenting the fact that you joined Mitgardia. Similarly @Kai NRG is the leader in Kaliphlin and has come to the same conclusion. Expect to see a lot of friendly guild bashing during your time here. Just give them as good as you get!
  2. Really nice entry @narbilu! Love the use of the sail pieces as tents and with them surrounded by bones it looks suitable Orcish. I like the idea of having different orc tribes, so the "Sand Orcs" seems appropriate. I can imagine there are lots of other tribes in the western half of Varlyrio - I have a few orc minifigs I've been creating which I will share soon. Overall you've done a good job of integrating the dark tan and reddish brown on the ground, it gives a good impression of churned up earth where the builders have been working. However, I do feel it could benefit from some more 1x1 plates and wedge plates to blend it in a bit more naturally, some of the transitions are a little abrupt. Overall it's a very impressive entry and I'm glad to be sharing a guild with you (when I get round to posting my sigfig that is )!
  3. Really nice work @Henjin_Quilones! It's always nice to see 100% LEGO scenes and it's easy to overlook how much you need to build out of shot just to preserve the effect. I really like the windows and the small table with the dragon sculpture on it. And speaking of dragons, I love the dragon motif above the fireplace too, although it bothers my OCD a bit that the shield isn't perfectly vertical! My only feedback would be the central table is impressive but somewhat bare, it would have been interesting to see some dishes, maps, glasses etc on here to liven it up. The characters are great and I look forward to seeing more of this story.
  4. Another great MOC @Gabe! Love the sculpted hill and the colour choices. Fits perfectly for a blend of Avalonian/Kaliphlinian ship design.
  5. Really nice microscale build there @Grover! As @TitusV has said, the rocks are beautiful, you've integrated angled plates, cheese slopes and 1x1 round plates really well. The microscale shape is also really well done. The outcrop feels a bit barren at the top, I appreciate you're lining it up to be that way but some ancient ruins or changes in vegetation (some olive green plate might have helped) would probably break up the tan studs a bit.
  6. Hahahaha! Oops, apologies David (@Ayrlego), I guess being compared to @Gabe is hardly an insult (I hope!). Obviously I've been looking at too many MOCs recently and my brain can't process their awesomeness! Or that's my excuse anyway...
  7. @Gabe: that shipyard is looking awesome!
  8. Really nice architecture here, suits the Kaliphlin style very well. I like the colour palette used for the building and the sense of action from the scene. I appreciate the building is supposed to be unfinished, but the very flat and bland courtyard floor looks a bit unnatural. I think this could have had some small variations in height and colour, the distinct line between the dark tan and medium flesh sections stands out too much. Anyway, its a great structure and I'm looking forward to seeing more of Mophet!
  9. Loving the character of playing a clergyman! That'll be a nice change from all the warriors and hopefully allow you some unique stories. Like the use of 1x1 cone bricks in the roof, makes for a nice texture. The church is a little on the small side, but it does remind me of the small Scottish kirk's dotted all over our shared homeland. I like the gravedigger at the side. My only real complaint is that the dark tan path is higher than the surrounding grass, normally due to footpath erosion it sits lower than the grass. It's a lot more parts intensive but I think it's worth it.
  10. Lovely details on the tower walls and as already mentioned the roof slopes perfectly. The landscape is suitably barren and very evocative of Nocturnus, shame that guild isn't included any more but I guess it made sense due to its lack of players. I'm sure it'll be woven into various stories in book 3!
  11. So much to love here @Gabe! I agree that the yellow foliage works well, despite how bright it can feel next to the more recent earthly tones LEGO have released. The birch tree design is fantastic, I actually just saw another MOC with that technique earlier tonight and was admiring it. The house itself is solid - I like the 1x2 plate with rail used to give texture, it's a neat design. Well done
  12. Wow! This is a masterpiece. It's tough to find something that someone hasn't already said: the colour palette is delicious, the scale is terrific, the SNOT sloped base is amazing (despite how trivial it is to the overall build), the functional detail is realistic and the photography is first class. All in all it's a lesson in how to MOC.
  13. Nice little build once again! Kashgar is going to have half the buildings in Varlyrio if you keep building at this pace! Really liking how the upper floor overhangs the lower, and the use of the minifig shield to denote that it's a stables. The final shot in the hidden section, showing it adjoining another building, is really cool and shows how all these individual buildings blend together very well. The only strange thing is the 1x1 gold cone on the roof, is it supposed to functional or purely ornamentation?
  14. This is probably you're best yet! The light bley and white blend together really well, and the windows are a novel way to fill that space under the arch. Also really digging the mosaic tiles under the door and the cobbled streets. Great work!
  15. Nice work! You've packed a lot of detail into such a small build. Love the corner pillar design and the interior. The only part I'm not totally sold on is the cheese slopes on the roof diagonals. To me it looks a bit strange. But others have said they liked it, so clearly it's my tastes which are outdated!
  16. Really abstract and brilliant take on the challenge @de Gothia! Love the minifig head choices, they convey the emotion they're feeling perfectly. The black and white photo also adds a sombre mood to proceeds.
  17. Really nice fig presentations here, I love what you've managed to convey with so few bricks. Look forward to seeing more!
  18. I would vote for that! There could be merit in allowing builds there even though it's not an active faction.
  19. Great scene @mccoyed! Lots to like here, love that floor technique and good use of printed tiles as decor. I like the story technique showing the portraits of who said what, it really helps understand what's going on. Is the sunken city the one where the elves live? I thought some might have crept into this build. I like the dynamic you have going on between Fel and her family, the underlying antagonism suits Varlyrio well, I look forward to seeing how that develops!
  20. Really nice introduction builds @Gabe! The Mitgardia one is my favourite, the lower of the buildings has some beautiful textures on it, you've added a lot of detail into a confined space. I love the assymetry too. Like @TitusV I think the horns look quite Orcish on the tower, but it's a minor point. Your snow is very well sculpted and very natural. I love what you're doing with the story, I'm curious to see how the story of Anuar and Erudhalion will pan out. It reminds me a lot of the Akira Kurosawa film Kagemusha, if you haven't seen that check it out, might give you some plot ideas!
  21. I think editing the first post with the index of builds would make some sense. That way this thread is a one stop shop for all your Varlyrian needs!
  22. Really nice design! Love the dark blue dragon, it's a great colour choice. In particular the technic wing design is very clever, fits perfectly for those wings. I like the presentation base, it should be on your mantelpiece!
  23. I like the architecture of the sloped roof above the gate, really nice design. I also like the tan and dark tan colour choice, it contrasts well with the dark blue windows.
  24. The most cunning family in Varlyrio, they must be some piece of work! I guess someone has to do all the fighting while the rest of us get fat from trade
  25. This is a nice colour scheme here, I like the contrast. Kashgar is coming along nicely, I like how you're keeping the builds together. Looking forward to seeing how it expands!
