Technic Silliest Builds?

My $400 (Candian dollar) 100% purist on/off timer switch: Minifigure Crossbow: Motor tester: A different use for GBC mechanism: Russian roulette slot machine: Powering pneumatics with an aquarium air pump: -
Some of the smaller Friends sets are like animal packs. 40264 was a quick way to get more bunnies for my bunny slope MOC last year.

It could be his logo design choices. The LEGO Group claims the basic brick and knobs are their trademarks. I suppose his IP lawyers can fight it out in court with the LEGO lawyers if he feels his logo is not infringing anything. The LEGO Group is also the owner of a whole range of additional trademarks, including the LEGO logo, the minifigure, the basic brick and the knobs. It is a common misunderstanding that the basic brick and the knobs are not protected as trademarks; even though they are not registered for construction toys, they are still registered for other toys and various other goods.

The Dice Reader
dr_spock replied to pasquentmax's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Clever. I thought of designing my own dice where one side is heavier and 3D printing it. This is a good way to see if it makes any difference. -
12v Train controller/transformer options? Aftermarket?
dr_spock replied to Unfinished_Projects's topic in LEGO Train Tech
If you have 12V AC-DC wall warts (power adapters) kicking around, you can get a $2 motor controller board from China. I used one to control the speed of a Power Function M-motor running a ski lift MOC. I think that's as cheap as it gets. -
Licensed Themes VS Original Themes

Original themes. They don't have an IP licensing fee tax. -
[MOC] Powered Boxcar (Power Functions)
dr_spock replied to Unfinished_Projects's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Nice power car. It's kind of like those HEP (Head End Power) cars back in the early days of Amtrak and VIA Rail before they got all HEP equiped locomotives. -
I believe Playmobil's trains are LGB G-scaled too. MegaBlocks may be going after that market.

Spider-verse. Fun film. Stick around and watch the end credits.

Welcome aboard, XGBC. Do you do GBCs too?

Ideas for freight locomotive to complement 4559
dr_spock replied to Elana-chan's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You could make it more like the Windhoff concept for transporting ISO shipping containers. (I think their concept eventually became the Windhoff Cargo Sprinter.) You could build some shipping containers from the Maesk train and see if it fits and MOD accordingly. -

I use a LiittoKala Lii-PD4 to recharge my NiMH. It can recharge individual cells instead of needing pairs. It can also recharge Li-Ion like cells in the 18650 format. So I tried to salvage some Li-Ion 18650s from an old laptop's battery pack to test my new charger. Unfortunately, all the cells were below 1.75V. I was hoping to get at least one or two that were still safe to recharge. For a children's toy battery box that allows swapping out of individual cells, NiMH is the safer way to go. NiMH is more forgiving to lack of due care than Li-Ion and Li-Po. Li-Ion and Li-Po need protection circuits to prevent over-charging, over-current, over-discharging, etc. Also need good hazard risk management and mitigation in design and in operation procedures. Wasn't it the previous Christmas when the hoverboards were popular and a number of them had fires? Wasn't there a Samsung phones battery recall after some burning butts? With great power comes great fires.

Years ago, I used track side sensor to detect the train and slow it down to a stop. I suppose you can use multiple sensors (or color tags if you using a color sensor). First one to trigger a slow down the train and then the next to trigger stop.

Electrified third rail add on for Lego trains?
dr_spock replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Would that be similar to the 12V system of power rails down the center of the track? -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II

I haven't made any changes to the Google App Script code that emails it. What may be the problem? -
The top part of the HUB is held on by four T6 screws. You can desolder the two metal bars on the PCB that are the connection point to the battery holder if you don't want to use them.

Nice work. Is there a way to make it so that it can move a bit parallel to the tracks so that you don't have to stop the train perfectly on the spot?

Wouldn't the 9V Li-Ion make battery box shorter in height which might be useful like in a slug engine MOC?
