    I'm ok with the one piece nose on the white passenger train. One piece would make the build easier and less frustrating for the youngest builders. It is easy enough for accomplished builders to MOD a brick built nose.

    I used to buy some deeply discounted Technic sets for starter to get the ball rolling. These days I use Pick A Brick wall for most non-Technic pieces. If I need a specific piece I would use BrickLink. I use my VIP points to get motors from Lego Shop@Home.

    You could be smelling the solvents used in the plastic manufacturing process. CMFs have soft plastic components like hair, accessories which can off-gas more than hard plastic like ABS. You should have it tested to determine what kind of chemical vapours being given off and read up on the MSDS for them.

    Could be their suppliers not making the motor internals to specs or cutting corners. China can make quality things if you are willing to pay them for that level of quality and keep an eye on them closely.

    Something may have changed. I don't see the pretty girls ads any more. Now it is showing ads for Walmart I never really paid attention to the ads before until this topic was brought up.

    My collection has increased by one. I opened Constitution Train last night and noticed it included a brick separator.
