  1. I'll be there.
  2. Could be the Brickdoctor. Should warn new users that mods can use anything they posted for titles.
  3. Many GBCers use the 4548 transformer and speed regulator to run the GBC all day. I've converted some spare 8881 Power Functions AA battery boxes to run off a AC to 9V DC transformer. Following standards is good if you plan to include your modules with others for much larger display at events like BrickWorld. You can have your one motor drive many as long as your complete module follow the input and output standards where you take in the balls from other person's module, do your GBC thing and send the balls out to the next person's module. The standard is balls comes in on the left and leave on the right. I did an event where the one guy had it going the other way. Fortunately, my modules were easy to flip around but the not so pretty side was now facing the audience.
  4. Excellent review. I don't think my budget will allow it this year. I think one of them should be 8285 Tow Truck.
  5. Nice work. I collected a bunch of Robel pictures but never got my butt in gear to build one. Your model matches the pics.
  6. Welcome aboard.
  7. I like trains too. Practicing quoting. I'm using with the North American spelling instead of the British "practising".
  8. We run non-stop. The display is modular to the GBC standards so modules can be taken out when they fail (to fix) and spare modules can be used fill in the gap. What works great at home may not at the event, kids could be touching, motor dies, etc. Not all builders have to be there the whole time. We do shifts, take breaks, chat with or hide from the crowds. As long as your modules are not too hard to troubleshoot, most GBC builders can keep it going if you're not around. Or you can leave instructions on what to do.
  9. Sad to read. Fortunately no one was injured.
  10. Welcome aboard.
  11. Washed some sticky LEGO.
  12. Yellow cargo is $240 CAD in Canada. New blue cargo is $230 CAD. Blue has more pieces too. Edit: Added currency for 1974.
  13. I have all identical colors on 3 stems unless I don't have enough, then I mix. I try to avoid that.
  14. I use BandAid when refering to a bandage like "I cut myself and need a BandAid." The IP lawyers can patrol the web and print to enforce the trademarks. Once something become common language in daily conversations, it's hard to suck it back in the box with the Hoover. I'll take an Aspirin and face the general public when dealing with their building block toy chats.
  15. Sorting and sorting.
  16. Business card holder for more letter tiles.
  17. Awesome. Punch buggy red (ding ding), no punch back.
  18. Good work. Watch out for low clearance tunnels and bridges.
  19. safiati posted pics of 7897 vs 60051 side by side on his BrickShelf. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=543785 I'm thinking it might a good air ambulance copter.
  20. Dusted my 8043 and 8258. Also tested the functions and found a couple of them really slow. Might have to take apart and check all the gearing.
  21. I've been following stud up since I bought my first fire station back in 1983. I guess keeping the box would come in handy some day. Picture 4774 par dr_spock_888, sur Flickr
  22. I think it is possible to find uses for those one piece noses from the CITY sets. Propeller Rail Car par dr_spock_888, sur Flickr It'll be interesting to see what kind of MODs or MOCs can come from the high speed passenger train set.
  23. Dark Age is the period of time when you lost interest in LEGO.
