Marbled has an advantage of paint not wearing off through play and handling.

Uses for differentials
dr_spock replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You can use differentials for adder-subtractor. I see you have used differentials in your dolly. That's different. -
Investment Value: Helicarrrier Vs. Ghostbusters Firehouse
dr_spock replied to Bryboy747's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Generally speaking for maximum return on investment, unopened sets with the box in perfect condition will fetch the most money compared to used sets. -
Welcome aboard. peter58. Eurobricks is not really setup to host pictures. Pictures can be uploaded to a picture hosting service like flickr, brickshelf, etc. and then deep linked into your post. If you use flickr, here is a tutorial on how to do that: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97921

I would suggest you clear this first with the Eurobricks staff. So that it is not in conflict with anything we are not aware of. Jopiek is our train MOD.

[ESL-FB3] This Ole House
dr_spock replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very good. Green and red colors compliment each other. How do they get the fountains to work that high up? -
Does this work for a meme? Maybe it is better for a title.

Hook question
dr_spock replied to Dafgek81's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
How about something like these? The first one you can run a technic axle through the hole and have it held between two liftarms or connectors at the end of the crane arm. Brickshelf tip, you don't have to wait until the folder has been moderated to post a deeplink to the image. As long as the image is within the EB site guidelines size, it'll work. -
Hook question
dr_spock replied to Dafgek81's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Facebook link doesn't work for people without a Facebook account... There are a number of ways to mount that hook. It has tow ball at the end which means it can be snapped into parts that can accept a tow ball like one of these. It depends on if the hook for show or you plan to do heavy lifting with it. You plan to lift, it might be better to attach it to a string and make a winch. -
General Part Discussion
dr_spock replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It would be helpful to provide more details on the orange version if it is really going to come out. Is it in a Technic set or some other themes? (We do have a Technic parts discussion thread.)- 5,507 replies

Challenge 1 A A band of natives on a small island in Terra Nova has a pretty intoxicating operation going on hidden in the jungle. They brew special banana juice. It is rumored to be more tasty than rum and knock you off the feet instantly. To brew this wonderful concoction large amounts of bananas are needed. Maybe more than they have on their island. Banana Juice by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Does this mean they will be raiding a planation somewhere?

Introduction to Lego Technic
dr_spock replied to slungshot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I got my first Technic set after I returned from the Dark Ages. I think the Technic elements in younger kid sets are there to enhance playability and structural integrity. Not so much to get them interested in Technics. My daughter could follow instructions and assemble Technic sets when she was in elementary school. She wasn't interested in Technics. She is more of a Ninjago girl. classic: -

I replaced another muffler in my car and it got me thinking of all the mufflers that came in and out of my life. Car repair expenses are eating at my LEGO fund.

The 'Cost' of Owning Large Lego Collections
dr_spock replied to DrJB's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Didn't a financier named JP Morgan once said to a reporter, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."? Mortgage and home insurance are part of owning a home. You're paying them whether you own LEGO or not. If you insured your LEGO separately but then it wouldn't be hidden. If you have central heating and cooling, you're paying regardless. Cameras and flashes can be used for family photos or a photography hobby. Storage can be cheap if you find freebie shelves and recycle containers from other things. I suppose there can be a hidden social cost if your collection expands outside of the agreed to space with spousal unit. My costs: Pirate set: $25 Technic flagship set: $250 Time to build them: priceless -
I have used silicone lube on my GBC modules. It cut downs the ABS plastic dust around the technic axles after spinning all day. I am not sure what the long term effects are yet. It only has been a year or two. I've put Dupont Teflon based wax lube into one of my squealing m-motor. It quieted it down. I think the motor may die before I see if there any long effect on the plastic inside the motor.
