  1. Natural light (but not sun) works well to see the difference. Alternatively, an incandescent lights like Philips' "Daylight" bulb works well too (that's what I use on my Lego building & sorting table). The CFLs that I have give the same yellowish light as traditional incandescent bulbs, so they do not help at all to differentiate the colors.
  2. Impressive, not only slopes but that all parts seem to have the same problem: the white panels and 1x2 tan plates are all cracked. Cheese slopes are the small 1x1 ones, like the pink at the front of the top. Other ones are just regular 1x2 slopes.
  3. On the other hand, all the sets you mentioned are a few years old, so even if they modified something to solve the problems that kind of old set will still be affected... Hoping that at least they try to solve the problems on new batches (even if problems seem to be still found in new ones)
  4. Indeed when I say "old grey" I mean the grey from before 2004: one was replaced by the other. Until 2004 there was light grey & dark grey Since 2004 there is light bluish grey & dark bluish grey Only the latter ones are still produced by Lego and so can be found in current sets. All can be found on Bricklink, though that usually the older ones are only available as "used" parts.
  5. I previously used the road plate borders for bicycle path + car parking, e.g.: http://mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=366153&id=/user_images/68992/13751978646 (as the border on these old plates was very wide)
  6. Isn't that the opposite? The bluish version on the left and the old/yellowed on the right? From what I see on that pic, they do not seem yellowed, that's just the old grey color, that is naturally more yellow than the new one (which is more blue, hence its name)
  7. Funny that they used in US-only set a part that was originally designed for EU-only trains :) And indeed it is a shame that we didn't get these two sets here. A US-only (or even more limited?) set that I would have liked is http://brickset.com/...-Rig-Truck-Stop Though that I had a truck similar (but much smaller) to the red one of that set: http://brickset.com/...4-1/Crane-Truck edit: and sorry for the off-topic :D
  8. On the pick-a-brick they were selling the axles separately from the wheels and the holders. I ordered these three parts some time ago. If I remember well, the axles were sold by pair in the little cardboard box like when coming in a regular set. I would expect that it is the same for Lugbulk as the three parts each have their Lego reference...? (the combination of the three is just a Bricklink reference)
  9. I only have http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=7834-1 with the even older gates http://www.bricklink...em.asp?P=815c01 / http://www.bricklink...em.asp?P=815c02 :) I wish I had http://www.bricklink...em.asp?S=7866-1 but it is rather expensive nowadays (well, it wasn't cheap back in the 80s either...)
  10. I also have that old one, but the use of slope and tiles is much older than recent PF sets: they already used that for 12V crossings in 1983 In a way, the 1983-current brick-built rail crossing is more in the Lego spirit than the old one that you presented which is just two big single-usage parts ;) (ok, the part going in the middle is not single usage: they used it as crane rail in two sets)
  11. Indeed in European cities you can still find small stations in the middle of residential buildings. Though that usually those that I see are rather on corners, and "under" a building rather than directly on the street; e.g. two small ones in Brussels: https://maps.google.be/maps?hl=en&ll=50.862826,4.317477&spn=0.010659,0.019848&t=h&z=16&layer=c&cbll=50.862814,4.317368&panoid=81AqANo1WTroGW2v17xNcQ&cbp=12,151.98,,0,-7.01 https://maps.google.be/maps?hl=en&ll=50.841097,4.375434&spn=0.009675,0.039697&t=h&z=15&layer=c&cbll=50.84109,4.375455&panoid=iEqpiBL_qGeyAYcgoRe7dw&cbp=12,56.14,,0,-2.24 there are a lot similar to that here.
  12. I checked, indeed the bright green that I have are 16x32. The 32x32 are more or less regular green : out of four plates, two are slightly brighter (but still closer to regular green than to bright green) and one is slightly darker (the oldest one, from the 80s, same kind of darker green as my baseplate from http://brickset.com/sets/6374-1/Holiday-Home)
  13. But there were already some bright green before, no? Or maybe just as 16x32 ? As I am sure to have some, but maybe not 32x32... (though that even the 32x32 are not all the exact same green, as I said)
  14. Which "old" ones? I never found the green baseplates color really consistent, I have several of these since the 80s, some were bright green, some were regular green, some were a little darker, ...
  15. Indeed the feet are quite resistant, but it can still hurt if you are not expecting it. However I remember accidentally putting my knees on bricks when playing, that hurt much more.
  16. This blog is nice for new parts or re-colors of exiting parts: http://www.newelementary.com/ I do not think it lists every new part color though. On Brickset you can check parts by year to see what's new: http://brickset.com/parts/year-2015 (you can add filter on part type or color)
  17. Yes I added it with tiles shaped as 2x3, but I have to update the photos ;) The balcony is still the one thing I have to re-do, I'll try with a mix of bars and ladders, to make it less heavy indeed. The result of such replacement was already positive for the bars in front of the windows.
  18. The kitchen of my apartment: To compare with the real one: http://antp.be/priv/lego-apt/real_P1100076_1.JPG Cf http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=89706 for more on that
  19. Indeed, in the first version with the orange truck, the truck was much more noticeable, which wasn't so good since it is not the interest of the MOC here :) Thanks!
  20. I just remembered I had this pic from me in 1987 where one of the storage boxes is visible:
  21. Thanks all :)
  22. Nice one, it fits well in both cloudland and wintervillage themes :)
  23. When I was kid my father bought a few boxes made for storing tools, the yellow & blues seen on the ground on that photo: http://antp.be/temp/lego/P1090981.jpg (back then all my bricks fitted in these four boxes ) Later when the amount of bricks increased he bought a few more boxes, those seen on the right. There were less brick types in the 80s so sorting by part type was maybe easier to do. He made drawings of the brick types in the bottom of each container, allowing to know where what was in case I emptied some.
  24. I posted some updated photos on https://antp.be/lego/moc/apt.php (as some of the rooms of the MOC version were taken in early stage of the built)
