Price seems very reasonable, but I'm curious of what will be the prices in neighboring countries, i.e. Belgium and France (as it does not seem yet to be on the S@H site) Maybe I'll be able to order it from the Belgian S@H? Or do will have to go Lille's Store for the French price as often? Or will I even have to go to Köln, like for the Ghostbusters HQ to get a decent price ?

Does LEGO actually destroy their molds or not?
antp replied to Transparency for Effect's topic in General LEGO Discussion
example: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=787c01&in=S part of the 80s, reused in 2000 of course they may have redone a mould for the part, but in this case to me it is more likely they simply reused moulds. Storing them does not take much space, especially compared to the space taken by parts themselves. -

You never know if you'll reuse a part, I suppose. For example when they made Mickey sets they reused parts from the old Fabuland line. And it happens that a part not used in years reappears suddenly (though that such cases usually concern only a color variant than the part itself) -
Digging up my old thread for the 2016 update... Last year I moved all the Lego stuff from the bedroom to the office/storage room to change it to a office/lego room: So I moved all the CDs and DVDs to the bedroom, where Lego were previously stored: In the bedroom, I also replaced the combination of transparent window + aluminum foil by the "mirror" part that was introduced in the "Detective's Office" set.

There are probably a lot of "fake split" windows, like at some point real split windows were converted to larger windows, when the older models weren't yet rare and valuable

Great! I like these old-style 4-wide vehicles with modern parts :) I also still do my Lego cars that way

As 1974 explained there: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94037&st=100#entry2555947 some time ago it was possible to purchase non-production parts from TLG. If you check older posts in that thread you'll find some interesting pictures (if you haven't yet seen them)

Other source of bad projects: http://worstoflegoideas.tumblr.com/ I would buy that :)

A (very) few were sold in the past months: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=6881&colorID=4 so maybe a non-production part but that still exists in low numbers (or just errors for the Salmon version, though that on the photo it seems to be the right Orange)

yes, that's mean for the others :D I'm jealous of all these sand green parts It is not the same discount. In Belgium, France and Germany you get 0.50€ discount (out of 10€) for the small cup and 0.70€ discount (out of 18€) for the large one.

That's indeed a risk (except for colors which are not used anymore... again except if they re-use them) I remember that one of the most expensive parts on Bricklink a few years ago was the minifig helmet in maersk blue color, from a truck set of the 80s. When the maersk train set was released, it included again such helmet. Even if the mold was a little different, it is still the same part on Bricklink, and the price of the old one dropped from hundreds of $ to 25$.

Nearly 20 years ago, actually (started in 1997) That was the "New Beetle". And in 2011 they made a new model just called "Beetle".

That's a little more expensive if you want a full cup of small parts

Here I used the studded edge of roadplates as parking space: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/366153 (with a bicycle path added between these and the modular's original sidewalk, since these old roadplates have very large studded edge) And here I simply put the modular's base over the other plate, knowing that baseplate over stud gives the same height as a regular plate, adding 1 stud around them to have a clean border: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/413483 If you do not want too large sidewalks, this solution is easier since it does not require to move the modular and re-tile their sidewalk on roadplates.

Matter of taste; I find the F40 very well done (looks much better in reality than on photos) but don't like the Mini that I find too "blocky". I hope that the Beetle will be good. I didn't really like the previous one, I didn't buy it back then (in a way I regret it, but just as source of dark blue parts, not for the model itself)

indeed I wish these part could arrive in the PaB around here...

Like what Rick did about two years ago: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94461 I modified the 70804 ice cream truck as I was also thinking it was too tall. However I didn't use only parts from that set. Here is a first try: One of the main difference compared to Rick's version is that I wanted to keep the meta-part used for the rear of the vehicle. I had to lengthen it by 1 stud for that. Maybe later I'll do another try, with deeper changes (not using the dark grey vehicle base), as I still find the front of the vehicle a little too massive. Note for moderators: I wasn't sure if it was better to post in the old thread or create a new one, threads can be merged if you think it is better.

As someone said previously, as long as you do not empty the bin of one of the PaM parts by taking multiple cups, I suppose they won't say anything I'm more surprised by the minifig parts posted by 'Speedboat', I thought they were more strict about that, that you had to take the right number of fig parts & accessories

These two other cars are pretty classic 4-wide from the 80s (except they use colors that did not exist back then) They are more visible there: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=6271072 (though the green one was modified since)

This vehicle was built for a vehicle challenge on the Lego thread of the hardware.fr forum. It is not a Friends vehicle, but rather a Lego City race vehicle sponsored by Lego Friends, hence the color. Building with purple is not always easy due to the limited amount of parts. The steering wheel is on the right because the door only exists in the "right" version (coming from the Harry Potter Knight Bus 4755). So on the left I simply used bricks and placed an exhaust. It also uses parts from the other Knight Bus, 4866. Some may notice that one of the arches is different than the tree others: that's because I didn't notice that difference when building the car, though that I had enough of the new-style arches to use only these :D The 1x1 bricks with "9" number are from early 60s (coming from my father's Lego parts), the part used for the trunk is an airplane roof from the 80s-90s (one of the parts that tend to yellow a lot). The spring wheels holders and the "safari" tiles also are from that era. The springs were used in the same set as the tiles. Driving cab, trunk and chassis: The spring wheels holders are made for small wheels, so I had to find a way to attach bigger ones. In a recent set (I don't remember which one) I noticed that "plate with clip" are attached to a basic 2x2 wheels holder, so I had the idea to make the following assembly: The "brick with clip" seems stronger than "plate with clip" for such assembly (and stronger than expected). Not enough for a child playing, but an AFOL can play with it on his desk ;) A short video : https://vine.co/v/iwKrhpxKBwv Top Gear style : For reference: while testing the Paramount Marauder Link on my site: https://antp.be/lego/moc/friends-rally.php (same contents as this post)

Received mine too, thanks Copmike! (arrived to Belgium between 19 and 26, not sure when exactly as I was on vacation)

That must be indeed dark azure. There is also a rare weird shade of blue not precisely identified: but that one is closer to regular blue (that I posted earlier in this thread, and it was backlinked from that page)

simply medium blue ?

The "lightning piece" is from http://brickset.com/sets/6671-1/Utility-Repair-Lift I've that once since I was kid :)
