Some nice ideas here, but not very practical because some parts are rather rare or expensive (the red flags). I still prefer the original roof that Mr. Phes designed.
-
I created the "Africa Corps" after seeing the movie Zulu. I think some officers of the British army had facial hair. Maybe the officers didn't have to follow this rule? I''m not sure actually. Have to see that movie again.

By making the roof like this, all the water from the roof will fall on the minifig (and the torches like Z. mentioned)... theoretically speaking :-D

This is how I did the installation part: Step 1: Install LDraw and the Parts Library Step 2: Download MLCad and unzip in C:\LDRAW Now run the program 'MLCad.exe' (e.g. double click on it). Its in the directory C:\LDRAW. A dialog might be shown asking you for a Lego Base Path, this is the directory to which you installed the Ledit.exe and complete.exe. This is also C:\LDRAW. Hope this helps... EDIT: I was just reading a discussion on MLCad on Lowlug and there was a link to a complete package with installer. Here is this link. So this installer will do all the work for you! It includes LDraw, Parts Library, MLCad, ....
-
Do you need help with the installation or with the program itself? How do you determine that not all parts are there? Which are missing?

You have lots of troops Mr. Tordenskjold! Nice Red-coat army. Nice (and large) crew. I'm looking forward for seeing some picts with the crew on your ship. Have I ever shown my Africa Corps? Well, here's a pict.

Well, you have a certain "style" for making an avatar, add a background, the banners, the new website. Compare it with the work of a painter. When you study a lot of Picasso's, you are able to recognize one when you see a new painting without explicitly being told who the creator was. You're very good at this and I like it a lot. Let's call it the Phes-style :-D

Welcome Cutlass Cole. You came to the right place! I'm looking forward to see that ship you're building.
-
Much better indeed Mr. Phes. Now there is no more room for misunderstanding. I already thought recognizing your work in the modified pictures.
-
If you expand the ship with inverted slopes, then both are possible. I have no special preference. What kind of slopes do you have most (the high or low ones)?

I think that Mr. Norrington was refering to the HMS Bellerophon.

First time I see this little fort. But what a pleasant surprise! I never knew this existed. You could have made me believe this was a MOC. Excellent review and 1000 thanks for bringing this to our attention. I might follow your advice and build it myself. Do you own this idea book or did you get the instructions from the internet? I guess this will have to be moved to the Pirate LEGO MOCs forum if we follow the instructions of Mr. Phes. Or maybe not because this is a "pictorial review"? This is an interesting one...

My best guess is that the word has a British origin. I have a special history book Mr. Norrington. It doesn't mention the battle of the Nile, no Trafalgar and no Waterloo :-P

Here are my reasons for making the hull of L'Orient like I did: 1. I needed more space inside the ship (gundeck), to have 4 studs between the backs of the cannons when there are inside the ship. Otherwise there was too little room on the gundeck and the cannons would be almost back-to-back. 2. The upper-deck of L'Orient is 4 studs wider than the one with the tall slopes. This is especially useful if you want to place some cannons on the deck. 3. To create the effect that was recently identified as "The tumblehome effect" :-D

I only realised when I noticed the purple star iso the blue one :-D

MLCAD Submodel Tutorial
Bonaparte replied to ZCerberus's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Here is a small picture of it. But as I mentioned, it is not different than yours. -
Nice car Simon. I really like those older cars. Is this based on a real model?

Very poetic intro :-D Welcome to Eurobricks.

The last movie I watched was North Country. This was one of the best movies I saw in a long time. Very emotional and touching story and great acting.

Maybe something with your firewall? Probably not because you could download the LeoCad... Try this: Download MLCad

I like it a lot! This scene is as good as it gets with Lego You own a big amount of those good looking snow troopers *wub*

I made a small MLCad-example to demonstrate the "tumblehome" effect in L'Orient. Jeps, thats the flag I'll be using!

MLCAD Submodel Tutorial
Bonaparte replied to ZCerberus's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Here is the direct link to the MLCad Tutorial. It is only 7 pages and you can learn everything while building a small space MOC. Explains also the use of submodels (explained a bit different) and how to use the steps for making instructions. It's interesting to know that the steps can by added at any time. Even when the model is finished. And you can see the different steps while in "View Mode" (normally you are in "edit mode"). MLCAD Tutorial Page -
No problem Mr. Tiber, whisky can have this effect :-D Nice idea to put a this little red brick in the glass. Looks like it is filled with wine. First time I notice this. Very re-usable *y*
