Aha, you also started with MLCad. I'm experimenting myself. It's a good idea to start with a small and rather simple design. This looks very good. I'm sorry, but I have no tips for improvement. It can be used as a standalone set and it is also useful in a larger set. Will you be posting instructions when finished? This might be something I would like to build...

That's a very plausible explanation. I couldn't understand the reason for the gun ports being black while it would have looked better making them yellow. That's one of the pictures I way before where I noticed the black gun ports. You are right that yellow gun-ports might look better. Did you try to make them black in your MLCad design to see the difference? Thanks for this advice Paladin. This will be very useful when I start designing. I would really love to see this ship of your with my own eyes. I don't really understand how your gun ports are working (the mechanism to open them)...

I'm must say that your English is excellent being only 13 years old and Dutch being your native language! But aren't you afraid you might still have to go through that "phase" where things like Lego won't be so interesting anymore? I had such a period (when my Lego was in the basement) for some years while growing up. Maybe I'm just asking silly and off-topic questions :-$ ...

That's not a problem because I have made the "sorting criteria" :-D

Welcome Nick! I'm looking forward to see that ship you are building. Don't hesitate to make a "progress"-thread. PS: I really like your avatar!

Vote for the domain name of the new Pirate LEGO Portal website
Bonaparte replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I voted for piratebricks.com. It matches well with Eurobricks and it sounds good. My second choice would be Classic-Pirate.com. -

Then I will reply on Bricommunity Mr. S :-D

I expected this question... The reason I took this thumb is because the thumbs of the other ships have about the same dimensions and I've been trying to make the index look a bit uniform. Buuuut, I'll make an exception for you Mr. Z ;-) !

There is not much to see for the new French regiments, just 10 imperial soldiers with muskets on a green plate :-D . I'm currently buying muskets for my English line regiments and yesterday I bought 10 shako's for expanding my English riffle regiment.

My girlfriend is sorting it (with my help :-/ ) per color. And for each color we are having 4 boxes: Plates, bricks Xx1, brick Xx2, all the rest. And we are also having a box for the tiles and slopes (all colors mixed). I'm afraid it will be a long project having sorted for some hours. But the good thing is that I can already start using the sorted boxes for my MOCs.

Here is a discussion thread of the USS Heerman And here are some picture of an incredible aircraft carrier. There might be a discussion-thread for this one too, but I'm not sure.

You did some changes on the bow (colors), you made the front of the ship a bit lower. You should really print some custom flags for your ship...

Done! I have also changed the link to the folder with the latest pics.

Really, I still haven't watched that movie again. But I believe you :-D It that case you can ignore this comment. I can do better and offer the help of about 120 ship-builders. I'm using the ships-index really a lot these days for ideas and inspiration. You front is not really bad, but there is still some room for improvement.

Today my girlfriend started sorting all my Lego. While building a MOC, most of my time was waisted by searching bricks. I have no idea how long it will take to sort everything but it will not be a quick job. I hope that she doesn't get bored of it before its all finished :'-(

You're ship looks much better with the improvements Mr. Tiber. This is really one of my favorite ships (its in my top 10). There are 2 things I would change: - The yellow windows at the stern should really be red (or black). - The front of the ship looks a bit flat (I mean the wall behind the bow sprit).
-
Very beautiful ship. What makes is so good are all the details. For example the rope (with the technic pieces) for the sails are one of these details. I also like the cannons/cannonades on the deck and how the deck can be removed. It's good to have so many detailed picture on this ship (especially when you are searching for ideas ;-) ).

Thats how I'm gonna do it on L'Orient. Yesterday I ordered that "special" bow sprit (with the studs on top) on BL. But I didn't think of the rope. I'll add some to my bricklink order.
-
We should maybe write gun-deck, because thats what we (Me and Mr. Tiber) mean. On L'Orient I could put 20 canons on the 1 gundeck with 3 studs between the cannons and 6 hull-mid-sections. Maybe you could make this 24 if you are very creative and don't have a captains quarter. So by putting some cannons on the deck, you could go just above 30.
