  1. I agree that a set with the original box and instructions has much more value. I also try to buy sets with the original box/instructions unless I'm buying the sets to reuse the pieces in one of my MOCs. And I don't mind paying (a bit) extra for it.
  2. I notice this "effect" already on some ships, but never realized there was an name for it. How did you learn about this Mr. Tiber? Or is it part of your job as pirate-moderator to know stuff like this :)?
  3. I will post them very soon. The deck is finished, the cabin is as good as ready and I started to add some "details" (bell, torches, steering wheel,...). But I'm waiting for my BL order with some missing parts because some bricks don't have the right color at this moment.
  4. Well, this "mlcad-pirate-library" would be a very nice future project. It will be another nice addition to the pirate forum. I noticed that the mlcad design of the stockade is only 57K, so it won't be very difficult to find a space to store some designs.
  5. I think you need better glasses Mr. Tiber :) It was added 5 minutes after it was posted by Mr. Landlubber. I even "guessed" the name of the thumb because the folder was not yet public. It's been put it under the category harbors.
  6. Just incredible what you can do with MLCad. The ship looks very good. Great amount of details. What percentage of the parts need to be ordered? Do you keep in mind the pieces you own while making the design or do you use complete liberty? Do you think it is a good idea to make a MLCAD pirate library in the future? A place where you can download a design you like to build, modify, study, ...
  7. If you limit yourself to 3 bricks for the crew quarters, then it will be possible. Just join the "Z"-course on MLCad. After about 2 hours I could reproduce the Sentry Box of Mr. Phes and now I even know how to make instructions.
  8. I will read the manual and listen to you ;-) Just did a quick experiment during my lunch break with the "steps". Now I get the instructions the way I want them. So thanks again Mr. Z. Printed the official manual. I'll read it tonight during my train trip home.
  9. I don't plan to post my version since it is exactly the same as yours :-D I'm just using this to learn MLCad. Now I'm struggling to extract the building instructions for the Sentry Box (I hope that is possible). I can already get an image per submodel, but these are not really instructions. I guess I better read the MLCad manual first... Anyway, it will be for tomorrow. I'm going to bed.
  10. This is beautiful! I love it *wub* It really doesn't matter if you don't post much when your posts are of such high quality.
  11. Buffalo Tom - Would not be denied
  12. I also made a version of the Phes-Sentry-Box with MLCad. This is really an excellent way to learn how to work with the program. Tomorrow I will import the Stockade file which Mr. Z provided me some time ago. Just wanted to inform you that the link is incorrect.
  13. I definitely prefer the first version of the roof. The flag is at the right position, but I would change the color of the little round brick and mast into white. Its unfortunate that the Imperial Guards flag is not in the MLCad library.
  14. I would go for option 1. Try to get as much crew on the ship as possible :-D Good question... I decided not to have crew quarters on L'Orient (I was also using the standard hull pieces). It will be more difficult to make the ship look sleek, but it might not be impossible... . You will need some more time to do some experimenting. Maybe have a look at the ships in the index to see if there is one with the desired height on the standard hull that still looks good. Edit: Why not use MLCad to do some experimenting with the hull?
  15. This is really a funny topic :-D :-D I would never attempt to make my Lego ships float.
  16. Just paid a big bricklink order (180 pieces) with all the stuff I miss for completing my newest MOC (Frigate L'Orient).
  17. Bros - I owe you nothing This song always brings back a lot of memories.
  18. I think we'll be surprise for how much money these boxes will be sold. They are quite rare. Off-topic: I'm feeling really down for the moment. There was an ebay auction with 10 imperial soldiers (with muskets) that I was following which ended at 7PM today. I forgot about it until 7:05PM and discovered they were sold for only 13 euro :'-( :'-( :'-( 8-|
  19. This is becoming a real "group"-MOC. Everybody is building it, modifying it, never seen this before on EB!
  20. We are really trying hard to keep your thread running Mr. Tiber :-D And have high expectations for your ship!
  21. I can't thank you enough Mr. Z. This is exacltly what I needed to help me get started!
  22. Me and my army are waiting :-D
  23. It's always good to see someone join the ranks of the shipbuilders! This is an excellent start for a first ship. Are you basing your design on an existing ship or just experimenting?
  24. Roy Orbison - In dreams
  25. Thanks! Now I understand. Thats a very useful technique because using those small flags as gun-ports is not always an ideal solution.
