The new sails look good and it like the color scheme of this ship. But it should be a bit wider. Maybe by using some inverted slopes in the hull. What do you think Z?
-
A big improvement indeed. The new ship looks much better (especially the sails). With each ship you build your skills are improving, so its normal the latest is the best. So, what's your next project?

Mr. Tiber felt I could use some exercise (and he is correct!). So he asked me to see to your request for the splitting of this topic. With a shaking hand I tried this (afraid something would go wrong), but no worries! It went well. Here is the link to the progress topic: The Arbiter II In progress, A MOC and story by ZCerberus

I like it a lot. It's nearly perfect! But I'm not sure about the white roof window. And I agree with you, there is a bit too much dark grey in the front.
-
Not a bad start! You seem like a fast learner Mr. exo attack. Having to work with the bricks you have fill force you to find some creative solutions. I suggest you have a look at the The great pirate torso LIBRARY is you want some custom pirates.

Aha, now I understand. I could have know this if I looked a bit longer at your picture... Using the connector at the platform solves my problem. Now I just need to make some sails. The "first version" will be in paper to get the right form. When I find something better, I'll replace them again.

Thundercats....HO!!! Custom figs 2
Bonaparte replied to Vader's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Amazing what you can do with minifigs Lord Vader. The claw hand is really a masterpiece! -
Looking at the arbiter, I discovered you attached one of the sails to the platform. So I tried that by using this piece: I guess that's also how you did it Mr. Z? Hard to see on the picture. This seems like a good solution to make the lowest sail a bit bigger and the second sail a bit smaller.

Blackbeard, Bloodheart and small crew minifig customs

That also what I did :-D I also used the EB email system. Strange that your test failed. Maybe because you sent it to yourself? Can you sent a test to me via the EB email system? I'm sure that Mr. Phes (being an administrator) can see the email-address that Sir Scott used for registering to EB. -
Incredible how small this thing is. Not easy to make with so many details. Nice to look at, but I prefer minifig size because I want to play with my ships ;-) He guns are made in the same way as in this mini HMS Surprise.

Vote for the domain name of the new Pirate LEGO Portal website
Bonaparte replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I checked for the availability of piratebricks.com at one.com (where I normally buy url/web space). They just say that this domain is taken... Unless we know when/if this domain will become available again, I would suggest to go for the .org, .net or .info variants. -
Coming back on the tumblehome discussion, this is a good example using the tall slopes. Also the stern has the tumblehome-effect. But I'm not 100% sure how the stern is constructed...

Thats what I hope to achieve. Wait and see... -
I would really want to try this, but have no idea where to go in Belgium for buying it... Outdoor canvas... what would it normally be used for?
-
Thanks! I'll do that Mr. Z. I have used the first thumb for the index. The pictures are much better now.

Good to mention the sails Mr. Z because I'm facing a problem here. I would like to use this sail-plain: The arrows in the picture below indicate the points where I could attach a sail-beam (don't know the correct term) to the main-mast . If I add 4 sails to the main mast, then 1 of them would be rather big... I don't think this will look very good. In this picture it is the second sail (starting from the deck). If I add 5 sails, then it would be solved, but this is not very accurate. Does anyone have a solution?

I'll answer by quoting you :) But Norrington was the first to suggest changing the name and description. I made it my second act as moderator to fix this :-D -

Any of you still remember SirScottLego? He has created some great ships and custom pirate torso's. But sadly he disappeared from the forum (October of last year). I must say that I miss his presence at the forum and have been thinking of sending him an email to check if he is alright. So finally I did! I hope he is well and didn't abandon his Lego hobby. For those who are not familiar with his work: SirScottLego Brickshelf Library -
I have been doing some research on the Rose because I used it as a model for my MOC ship L' Orient. Here is a list of the websites I found most useful: Handcrafted model of the HMS Surprise (of which the Rose is a replica). The pictures of this model reveal details you can hardly detect on the pictures of the real Rose. This site is useful for its cross-sections of the ship.

You're right! He is currently on top of the list of "most active users" on IndyLUG which is not the same as "highest post count". I'm also very interested in this information. Mr Paladin, would you be willing to share the MLCad design (the actual .mpd or .ldr-file) of the HMS Bellerophon?

I have changed the name and description of this topic as requested by Mr. Cutlass Cole My first act as moderator! -
Paladin is a very active member (highest post count) of the Indiana Lego User Group. I'm also a member although I'm not really living in Indiana :-D . So I you have some urgent question, you can always contact him via that way. What would you like to know Mr. Tiber? I've been doing some studying on this ship myself.

The imperial flagship is really the best ship of the smaller ones. I bought one on ebay about 1 year ago, but I only assembled it last month (actually my girlfriend did it). It has a much better design (and colors) than the Caribbean Clipper where the rigging is all wrong.
