Indeed Mr. Norrington. It's interesting to see the 2 ships in the same angle. The are really almost identical.

At this moment I have no plans for re-working the Hotspur. After I finish the Orient, I will work a bit on my Napoleonic area city (at least make the first building, the governors house).
-
Yesterday I have started experimenting with the sails of L'Orient. I suddenly have a lot of respect for all those builders who made great looking sails for their MOC-ships. Soon I'll post some picture of L'Orient with the initial sails. Indeed, the mast are too short, the cabin is too high, ... It's just a "modified" BSB. If I would build this ship from scratch, it would look very different. I considered destroying it and making something myself, but then I started to make the L'Orient and keep this ship (with all its flaws).

Those are some great ships. I've started a section about USA. That's why I have you guys ;-)

We live is a rural area and normally very safe. So my parents always put the car in front of the house without closing it. Most of the times the keys are even on the car. They already do this their entire life, but I guess they will have to change that habit now. Today the keys were in the house, but the car was not closed. It's indeed odd they stole the garage opener... I removed the power from the machine so it can't be opened anymore. I hope they are not coming back for my Lego :-)

Some thieves broke into my parents car just 3 hours ago (in front of our house). About 40 CD's are stolen (all mine) :-( :-( :-( My sister is more lucky since she had removed all here CD's from the car this afternoon. Also the remote control of our garage is gone. I HATE THIEVES!

Hi Mike. Great way to introduce yourself with such a beautiful MOC. Happy to have you here!
-
Hello Uli, nice of you to spend some time to share some background information about this beautiful city MOC. Welcome!
-
No, it's certainly not L'Orient Mr. Tiber. I haven't made its sails yet ;-)
-
I think I also prefer nr. 1. But it is difficult to say at this stage. It will be easier to see if you added some

This is really incredible. I took about 15 minutes for looking at all those lovely pictures. I would really like to see an overview picture, know how long it took to make this city, what are the future plans, ... . I have send an email to the creator (Uli) with a link to this topic. So with a little luck, he might be here soon...

The ship is finished. I'm a big fan of the BSB and I wanted to keep the look, but make it a bit more "realistic". A cutlass is also a sword: A cutlass is a short, thick sabre or slashing sword, with a straight or slightly curved blade sharpened on the cutting edge, and a hilt often featuring a solid cupped or basket-shaped guard. Let me know if you like the Hornblower series Exo Attack. Good idea, I have build some MOC cannons from your brothers index, but I still need to order some missing parts on BL. George Bush? Don't know that guy. But then again, I live in the year 1800 :-D You're right, here is a picture of the ship before modification: Hornblower is the best series ever made for us pirates. There are 8 episodes of about 1.5h each. It's about a boy who joins the Royal Navy (around 1800, Napoleonic erea), and he gets in all kinds of adventures, gets promoted and eventually commands his own ship, the HMS Hotspur. The first Lieutenant of the Hotspur is William Bush. One of his first missions as captain brings Horatio Hornblower to Brest.

Same here. Looking forward to see those pictures Mr. Tiber!

26a HMS Hotspur Let me introduce Captain William Bush, commander of the English brig sloop HMS Hotspur. Lieutenant Bush is recently appointed Captain of the Hotspur (not yet Post-Captain, which is a rank only received after three years of a captaincy and after distinguishing yourself). [ William Bush The Hotspur is patrolling in the English Channel before the coast of Brest (France) and has detected a sail on the horizon. Uncertain if this is a friend or enemy, captain Bush gives the order to prepare for battle. The guns are out, the marines are ready on the the deck, some climb in the masts to get a better shot. The crew has received swords in case the are boarded or need to board the other ship. Remark: The Hotspur is a modified Black Seas Barracuda with an extra hull section (4 mid-sections) and an extra deck.

When will you show us a (real) picture of you oo7 ;-) ?

You can find the threads that have a link to wikipedia with the Invasion Powerboard Search Engine. Once you know this, you have to start looking in that thread manualy for the link. When you mentioned this idea some time ago, I started collecting the links and put them in a text-file on my PC. Two days ago I felt I had a good list to post here.

Thanks! It's now added.

Haha, here they are, the 2 pirate moderators in 1 post :-D And now I would like to see a picture of Mr. Phes...
-
Ooh, did I write schooner? I meant to write sloop-of-war. But since it has only 8 cannons, strictly speaking it is a brig or cutter |-/ I'll go undust it now, so it is ready for a photo-session. But since my girlfriend just arrived, the pictures will not be for today.

The text of the Wikipedia article for the HMS Surprise is identical as the text in your article... that's funny :) I have added the wiki-link of the HMS Surprise and I have edited the wikipedia page to add the external link to the HMS Rose/Surprise homepage (was missing in the wiki-article). Did you know there existed a Royal Netherlands Navy Jack? It's in the article on the Royal Netherlands Navy. I wonder when this flag was introduced in the Dutch Navy. Any idea Mr. Tiber?

I recently made some British flags for my Schooner (a modified BSB of which I still have to take some pictures). Here they are (the thumbs are the links):

Factory Set: Amusement Park with mini pirate ship
Bonaparte replied to oDDerFisken's topic in LEGO Pirates
I have seen this before in another thread, but I can't remember which one. Here is a picture of the set (5524 - Amusement Park): I have changed the title to: "Factory Set: Amusement Park with mini pirate ship". And since this is not a MOC, it's moved to the "Lego Pirates"-forum.
