[CMODEL] 42050 Sprint Car
Bricktrain replied to Thorlek's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That's cool. I bought two 42050, I have plans on one day building a Nascar model. -
They are for the different types of turntable, the type 2 has the inner gear ring on the base that type 3 doesn't, and type 3 has bevel gears on the top outside, also different number of teeth, type 2 meshes with an 8 tooth gear, type 3 with a 12 tooth, either as a spur gear or bevel gear if you look here you can see the complete turntables, and on the following page http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=4&catString=36&catType=P

I have ordered a BWE so should have the quadrants in a couple of weeks (with building the B model there is 12 spares) and will begin rebuilding it. I have decided to base it on the AC300, one of my favourite cranes to work with, so will mean a few less functions (no steering on centre axles, drive on 4 axles 2,3,5,6) but it will be scaled from the AC's specifications.

General Part Discussion
Bricktrain replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Could you change your design a little, looking at the pic, it appears your axle is offset from the kingpin, if you could move it over 1 and down half you would have the axle in line and you could use a 12 and 24 tooth gears to give the same ratio.- 5,466 replies

42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator
Bricktrain replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Any guesses to how many parts left over from the B model, should be still a good few frames and 12 quadrants by the looks -

Nice pics Anio, but I skipped my French reading classes -
My only wish is for more useful new parts, I have so many unbuilt sets now that I wont build, it is only a few that interest me that I build, the last one was the Volvo loader, next will be BWE, B model first, maybe the A model. The crawler crane I build in full PF in different colours. I haven't got room to keep sets and MOCs built so don't bother with many sets.

Color Coding
Bricktrain replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is probably more of a problem for set builders, it is only an issue for MOC builders when the supply of certain coloured parts becomes low. -

I think axles, they would give a slightly wider gap than beams -

In the old days screening was done with just a mesh the required size, it doesn't take much to separate the large from the small. The difficult part is to prevent the screen from being overloaded and the small parts overflowing onto the chute for the larger. I am interested in whether the Volvo loader will reach the bin, and how much would actually fall into the bin, I am thinking it may need a conveyor to load it. -
mine has 7 m motors, 4 winches, luffer and superlift, track frame lengthened 4 units and widened 2. Full RC. need to get some later pics, this one is when I was waiting for links for the pendants http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=6409801 I have also added extra bracing into the boom sections to lessen the twisting.

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Bricktrain replied to Legoman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Its available on S@H but not yet in stores, expected in a couple of weeks. Pre-order from toyco for 15% off. -
They do hold the weight with the help of the crawler tyres stuffed inside them. As Adam, Kiwi_builder, has mentioned the chassis is not complete, I had started to dismantle it to use the new quadrants from the BWE for the slew ring. The cab was the one off my previous 5 axle crane. The steering is not complete or the pneumatic pumps for the suspension. It is 4 axles driving and 6 steering with crab and countersteering modes. Drive is two L motors with appropriate gearing, that way most of the reduction is after the diffs and reduces the stress on the driveline. I have lifted the crawler on the auxiliary hook with a single part of line, the main runs 4 parts. In total it uses 56 weight bricks for counterweight, the boom extends to 3m. I have assembled it enough to add to my display at our LUGs show next weekend. Overall width is 300mm, length as pictured without counterweight is just under 1500mm When its completed I plan to take a video of 42009 on the hook, 2m off the ground.
