  1. Super cool, entry story and challenge entry at the same time! What are those helmets?
  2. It is never too late. Ok, what guild are you from though? Sorry, there have been so many new people, I must have missed your sign up!!!
  3. Correct, no points, just for bragging rights and the ability to call one of the warzones.
  4. To clarify, the counter builds are supposed to mirror the original guerrilla attack in some way, and they are limited to the same size (roughly) of the original build. If Kai attacks the HC with a build destroying a grain silo, the builds from the countering HC should show that grain silo in ruins being fixed, being cleared, maybe new people bringing grain to the people that relied on that silo in front of the ruined silo, just something that has to do with the original build.
  5. Only the Guerrilla can win the 6 points, see below about new proposed points for a winning counter. See below about everyone getting a point, aka us not doing that. OK, I agree, the part about the winning side getting a point each was an afterthought... however, I was not planning on setting up a voting thread with all MOCs, it was going to be a simple Which side won? question. All of the counters versus the original guerrilla challenger. However, this could be fixed by having that question, then a list of counters where everyone could vote for their favorite, and that winner would get 2 or 3 points. That is probably the best fix here. I was thinking about the overwhelming attacks today before reading this. I think a limit of four teammates can make an guerrilla attack on any one zone, while counters are still unlimited. As for approvals, most builds are getting around 5 already... I just wanted to make sure someone couldn't sneak in a bad build every week just to score 4 points. Maybe if we lowered it to 4 approvals? . points are personal, not team based, although we will definitely take the total a team has into account. For rules that makes sense, for story it doesn't. This was my first thought on it though, so we are in agreement that it would probably work. This would also force people to reveal their Guerrilla attack earlier to claim a spot.
  6. Two, but they were entirely wiped out over two centuries ago when the rebelled. There is a Leander slave guard in Ulandus though, and a Leander rebellion against the First Centurion.
  7. I don't think it makes a difference this week, but I guess the coordination would happen in the individual PMs, but from what I have heard, only HC doesn't have one? (I don't have the power to make them)
  8. Well, I am writing one now... its just non-fiction. Actually, when I dropped out of business school, almost two decades ago, I wrote two fantasy novels when I was 18-19, I decided they were not what I was looking for and threw them away ... young me never thought about revising them... ha. stupid. Since then I have written premises and chapters for other novels, but since all of my degrees are in history, its kind of hard to find a way to legitimately sit down, write out a novel and try to get it published, because as soon as you do that, you de-legitimize yourself as an academic. (Crazy... i know, and if I ever had the time, and finished one of the many books I have started, maybe I would get a pseudonym -- You think I could just write under "Ska F. Hire?" ) Yes, according to histories that Maxim, Kai, myself, and others have written over the last three and a half years, there is actually a pretty robust backstory to Kaliphlin. It includes periods where Kaliphlin had captured the whole continent. Actually, the only thing I had added this time around was a name to proto-Avalonia, the smashing of the land itself, and that Mitgardia was actually a bastion of Snow and Dark Elves. (Playing on someone's history of Mitgardia, where the ruling and predominant Norse-like people were actually invaders that took over the region known as Mitgardia today. ) Thank you!
  9. Great job! I was sort of thinking of putting something like this together myself, but I really wanted people to interpret the many different companies of the different legions as they wanted. This is a great example of that. So I will wait to put up my own interpretation until after this challenge, so that everyone is more free to use their imagination.
  10. Ok, I get what you are saying now. yes, I think the way you had it at the end there is how we should do it. If two guerrilla attacks from the same side happen, both must be countered. The two Guerrilla Attackers can build different types of scenes, as you said, maybe one sabotages a fort, and one sabotages a siege weapon. The guerrillas win if their MOCs are not both countered.
  11. Welcome to the guild, Elostirion. As you have mentioned, you don't need to use your sig fig in the war at all, but it would be nice to have record of him/her for the guild page :)
  12. All builds scored up to this point (This is for my record)
  13. All builds scored up to this point (This is for my record)
  14. All builds scored up to this point (This is for my record)
  15. I am glad it seems to be succeeding in that role. That was kind of my whole plan when I proposed it to the GLs. Thinking about it, but I don't want to make it too complicated right now, but we could have always had tiers of competition, like a new member only warzone or something. Guerrilla Attack Thread for Week 2 is posted
  16. Week 2 Guerrilla Challenges The following challenges have been made. Anyone may counter these Guerrilla Attacks, but remember each builder can only build one counter build each week, so pick wisely. If the challenger wins, they will earn 4 additional points. Each counter is worth 4 points. Voting will happen after the deadline. The winning side either retains the zone or captures the zone. NEW: If no one counters the challenger’s MOC, then the zone turns over to the challenger’s side, and they only earn 2 points. Counter builds should have a title with this tag in it: [CG: location, your faction vs the guerrilla's faction] IE: [CG:J13, U vs DK], Due Date: Mar 15th, anywhere in the world. Zone: J13 Challenger: LordDan What Faction can counter: Ulandus Zone: F13 Challenger: Kai NRG What Faction can counter: Desert King Zone: H6 Challenger: Garmadon What Faction can counter: High Council
  17. I thought about this last night after you comment on Flickr. The original intention here was to get people to create MOCs that would be able to stand up to the initial onslaught of many counters. Whereas the Guerrilla Attackers (the challengers) have many weeks to plan, they can create a great build. That build could be worth up to 9 points, to reward a really good builder. The counters were higher than normal war-zones because they were always made in a week's time. Here are my proposed changes -- since Lord Dan, Kai, and Garmadon are all guinea pigs in the first week (I have the thread written up on my other screen and will be posting after this) They will benefit from the old point totals. This is my new proposition for points and approvals, and if there are no major complaints, I think it should go into effect starting today. Guerrilla Attack Build: 3 points. Requires 3 approvals Counter Attack Build: 4 points. Requires 5 approvals. Uncontested win by a Guerrilla Attack: 2 points. Contented Win by a Guerrilla Attack: 6 points. Counter side wins, everyone on that side gets 1 point. That makes it a big gamble for the Guerrilla attack, and should help stop the possibility that someone just puts up figbarf every week. The extra approvals on the Counter attack side help prevent this. That is why we are trial and error this time around!!! Great questions. Here is how I think we should deal with the situation, we let both challengers be countered by the defending team. If both challengers win, then the zone is split in half for the next week, while the public votes on which Guerrilla Attack was more effective. Both winners get the 6 points, but only the winner of the two gets the zone. If one challenger wins, and one countering side wins, then the the defender keeps the square, but the Challenger that won would get their 6 points. Alternatively this zone could open up as a normal warzone perhaps? I would like to solicit thoughts about this solution to the two attacks in one zone question. If two attacks come from the same side, it is fairly easy, we just mandate that both challengers need to be successfully countered to defend the square.
  18. I think there is polish to be had here... And, if we like it, and everyone wants to do it again sometime, we will have the system play-tested.
  19. Those with a shield earned from GOH. I get what you are saying, I think the use of the can usually be told from the context of the post... I think. If we run into problems we will figure it out. As for qualifications, I would hope that people look at each MOC and can determine if sufficient time and effort have been put into creating the MOC. One way to tell this is to ask the question: "How does this rank against MOCs I have seen from this builder before -- is it up to their own standard, let alone the judges?" There could be cases where figs and baseplates is the previous body of work, in those cases we should really be encouraging people to take the next step towards better building.
  20. I didn't realize Lego was doing this now, how long have they had Bricks and Pieces? I have used the replace a missing piece option in the past, but did not know they had something separate from Pick a Brick to buy pieces. It seems to me that this is a cheaper alternative to build an army of blue coats... Especially if you have a bunch of unused heads.
  21. The current restriction in GoH is that main challenges have to be in bricks, but everything else can be LDD. I would like to hear what the members of this forum think before putting that kind of restriction in.
  22. I am surprised you were the first one to drop the L word. haha. PS Maelord's look is for Maxim, since he famously reiterates the stereotype about Avalonians. As we can see, these proto-Avalonians were hippies before it was cool.
  23. Yeah, there is just a little bit more, that might want to make the HC hold off on their decision. I have the final chapter done, the build for 19 is killing me though, but I don't think I can do them out of order. I suppose it depends, did Cain get the golem or not?
  24. Make sure to include links everybody, that way it is easier for us to make the voting threads!
