  1. VOTING THREAD Warzone 2: The Battle for the Reservoir Who Can Vote: EVERYONE How to Vote: Look at all the MOCs from each side. First, determine which side won this battle. You should base your opinion on a couple different factors: A)Build quality amongst all MOCs B)Number of MOCs of quality [Please remember that Ulandus has a numbers disadvantage here in terms of team members, so even though they only had four builds, that is almost half their builders participating] C) Story of the MOC You can weigh these in any order, or add your own categories. Please consider the three above in your decision though. You may want to clarify or lobby for your favorites in this thread, but you don’t have to write anything if you don’t want to. Next, pick an answer to each question in the pole. In the second three questions it will ask you to pick your favorite MOC from each side. Please judge on quality of MOC and its story. You can add other qualifications to your own judging process if you would like. Finally, submit your vote. Polling ends: April 1st (a little bit longer than normal because the thread was made later this week) Warzone 2: Battle for the Reservoir Location: G12 Who Can Participate: All Factions Terrain: This battle zone is along the Qar Ahken River’s banks, which are bordered on both sides by long swaths of fertile land, irrigated by the rich waters or the life-giving river of Kaliphlin. Specifically, this battle will be fought near the river, around the Flagg Aqueduct Filling Stations. History: Besides making oodles of money, Dextrus Flagg also used some of his vast fortune to improve Kaliphlin. When he took over, his oil interests in the Lower Parched Lands suffered because they could not sustain enough workers at well sites due to the cost and effort it took to move potable water to the remote locations. There was a solution already available; the vast aqueduct systems stemming from the Rakath Mountains already supplied many farm locations in the Nyika Tupu Desert. The old network did come all the way to the Qar Ahken River, but most of the old ducts had been destroyed or decayed when crossing the river. Those that still made it across the river had very little water left to take into the next desert. However, there were still aqueducts that lay dry on the other side of the river, that extended far into the Parched lands. Flagg was given an engineering choice, repair the ducts across the river, or find a way to pump the river water into the old aqueducts on the west side of the river. He chose the latter. So, the region along “Gentle Curve” was converted into large pumping stations that filled a reservoir, in turn the aqueducts were connected to the reservoir, and the excess water began flowing into the Parched Lands once more. Mini-challenge: All three factions have recognized the importance of this location. Who controls the Reservoir controls the terrain within the middle of the lower parched lands. For this reason, the winning side will also claim H11 too. The builders must create a MOC that depicts one of the many filling stations or other element of Flagg’s reservoir. In addition to creating this work, the builder must show their side taking possession of the area, either through force, subterfuge, or maybe even “just getting there first.” It should be evident that your faction has taken control of the aqueduct, pumping apparatus, or part of the reservoir. Your interpretation of any piece of the reservoir system is up to you, but remember this isn’t science fiction, the devices you show should be feasible with simple medieval level mechanics. Restrictions: 32x32 with limited overhang Due Date: March 22nd Finally, there are a few MOCs listed below that have not received the two thumbs up for approval yet. They are included here, but if they do not receive the two thumbs up before the deadline of the pole, they will not count in the standings. Contenders: HIGH COUNCIL Gideon Bregir mccoyed Jakorin Swiftsword Maxim I LittleJohn ULANDUS Kai NRG Elostirion Andrew Spader Garmadon DESERT KING Umbra-Manis Emma MKJoshA Robuko Disco86 LordDan Jacob Nion MassEditor On another note... I just don't have time to get up pictures in this thread. If anyone wants to create a picture index and email it to me, I will change the post. I guess this way it makes you all click and read the stories too.
  2. VOTING THREAD WARZONE 2
  3. As I said elsewhere, I wasn't really here this week to right our course. Whereas I think that it stretches the spirit of the GA, I think we will let it stand. I guess a GA could have theoretically happened before the war actually broke out... then again, we kind of crunched a bunch of time into a few weeks with the prelude of the challenge, so perhaps it happened very early in the prelude?
  4. Yeah... Well, I may have created a monster. The forum has been insane lately. Trying to catch up here.
  5. Voting Closed. Officially, no territory changed hands.
  6. I can probably do that next week when I have more time. People may have to really zoom in though! :)
  7. I agree with LordDan here. The flashback build should be put towards something else, because it is not really a guerrilla attack. The boat should be the guerrilla build, because they are sneaking into Ulandus. You should use the flashback build for another purpose -- maybe the mini-challenge? Who says two critical points in Historica's story could not happen in same place? I assume the DK tag was incorrect, and that you will want me to change it to HC?
  8. WARMAP318 by skaforhire, on Flickr Like this? It is just a matter of turning on and off a layer in the file... I can do both, but I was keeping the non victory point one as the main map just because I feel like the VP numbers clutter it too much to read whats under them. On another note, I leave town tomorrow, and won't be back until Tuesday night. So, I probably won't get to check in much. If anyone wants to volunteer to set up the warzone 2 voting post, I would be ecstatic. I can do the counters page when I get back and the results from this week's voting. I just assume people will want to vote on Warzone 2 ASAP. If no one wants to do it, then I can on Wednesday.
  9. Kai essentially answered this. There are two questions here -- first was the challenger better than the best counter build? Second, who was the best counter build, even if they did not beat the challenger? It is for personal points towards the ranking system that the second question is asked.
  10. Map Updated. WARMAP3182015 by skaforhire, on Flickr Off limit zones are the zones that you cannot GA, nor call as you next target currently. Not marked on the map, but should have been would be E7, and the four active war-zones.
  11. No it is not!!! too much post building... lol
  12. VOTING: Anyone can vote! Which side won? Which was the best counter build? Judging criteria: This is a straight one versus one contest. The challenger versus the best (in your opinion) counter build. So judge solely on Challenger versus best counter build. Thank you! 14. Week 3 Guerrilla Challenges Week 3 Guerrilla Votes: Zone: J13 Challenger: LordDan What Faction can counter: Ulandus Zone: F13 Challenger: Kai NRG What Faction can counter: Desert King Zone: H6 Challenger: Garmadon What Faction can counter: High Council New Challenges: The following challenges have been made. Anyone may counter these Guerrilla Attacks, but remember each builder can only build one counter build each week, so pick wisely. If the challenger wins, they will earn 4 additional points. Each counter is worth 4 points. (This is the last week that the old points values will be used) Voting will happen after the deadline. The winning side either retains the zone or captures the zone. If no one counters the challenger’s MOC, then the zone turns over to the challenger’s side, and they only earn 2 points. Counter builds should have a title with this tag in it: [CG: location, your faction vs the guerrilla's faction] IE: [CG:J13, U vs DK], Due Date: March 22nd, anywhere in the world. Zone: C7 AND C7 AND C7 Challenger: LordDan And Blufiji And MKJoshA What Faction can counter: Ulandus (Three counters needed.) 15. I apologize, I must have missed your link on the Warzone 1 page. I have edited the poll.
  16. I was about to explain it. I thought it would not be fair to just have one list. So I will assign 3 points for a 1st place vote, 2 for a second and 1 for a third, then tally them up, and then we should have a legitimate 1-5 for each faction. (except Ulandus, only 4 there) On another note, Desert King was just two builds away from a chance at an overwhelming victory if they won. Meaning they would get to pick an extra square.
  17. I think this and your last build were your best to date this year!
  18. I will have the rest of the stuff updated tonight, but here is the voting thread for WZ1
  19. VOTING THREAD Warzone 1: The Arkbri Skirmishes Who Can Vote: EVERYONE (That includes people who have not signed up yet, or will never sign up!) How to Vote: Look at all the MOCs from each side. First, determine which side won this battle. You should base your opinion on a couple different factors: A)Build quality amongst all MOCs B)Number of MOCs of quality C) Story of the MOC You can weigh these in any order, or add your own categories. Polling ends: March 24th (a little bit longer than normal because I won’t be able to close the poll on the 22nd. I am out of town all weekend.) Location: E7 Who Could Participate: All Factions Terrain: This battle happens along the Arkbri River. Which is mostly long meandering sections, with light hills and grasslands. The river is known for its reedy banks, where one can easily get lost trying to get from the bank to the open water. History: The Arkbri has been a rich river for Western Kaliphlin for centuries. It divides the Western Sands, and hugs the escarpment for a good 35 miles. It is also one of the largest obstacles to Kaliphlin travelers. The only major crossing in the Great Span at Queenscross. Although this battle may not seem important, it lays the ground work for the battle for the much more important Queenscross. Mini-challenge: With a small band of men, scout out enemy intelligence agents (spys, scouts, etc…) and neutralize them. Restrictions: 16x16 with limited overhang. Due Date: March 15th Title Tag for MOC's thread: Title of Moc [WZ1:E7, Faction Name] Finally, there are a few MOCs listed below that have not received the two thumbs up for approval yet. 20. I agree about yours, as I said, Garm's is the one that breaks the spirit of the rules there, because it is clear that this is an attack on a fortification that is occupied by the enemy. I am not sure a grain silo would have walls like that. My comprimise is that you both decide that this is a different zone, and we play it out as a GA. That way, a Victory point location is not taken by MOCs that might kinda sorta not be legal as a GA. Does that make sense? I Agree that yours alone could easily be "gathering supplies for war" but I dont want Garm's to be DQed since he worked hard on it. As to the next point -- I finally get what you mean, I misread before, I thought you meant stacking GA builds in one zone, you meant too many zones. Ok. Well, I think Bregir's suggestion is the best. See below. I think this is a good compromise. We will count yours for next week, just edit the square you want. That is correct, anywhere in enemy territory. (The idea here was that most of these would be subterfuge, sabotage, spies, and the sparking of rebellion, along with supply, counter-espionage, counter-sabotage, arrests, assassinations, etc... None of these have to be in close proximity to the battle front) I think this is a good way to go about this. That any amount of builds over half of the total number of builders in a faction can A)be countered by any member who wants to make a second counter attack and b) will have a two week counter deadline. I will randomly draw which GAs will have the extended deadline, and fall into the "you can counter this build, even though you already countered another this week" category (someone figure out a better term for this status. ) OVerload! maybe that is what we call them," overloaded GAs!"
  21. I think we would say that this would be a special circumstance, where the build should be just a bit bigger than the main part of the GA build (The Crossbow) I think that in the manner that it was used, that this may not qualify for a GA. I am referring to Garm's attack. This puts us in a sticky situation, I don't want to disqualify anything, but I think the siege engine and the accompanying MOC were used directly against enemy forces, which is against the qualifications for a Guerrilla build. My idea is that perhaps we let the two MOCs be reentered into another warzone, or reused in a different way in a GA. I am open for debate for and against the MOC being accepted as a GA build. This was not agreed upon, I think I mentioned that that was the only way to purely eliminate the more important spots for GAs. I also said that that may take some fun out of the game.
  22. I will have to do it tomorrow... a bit behind schedule over here with real life. But, any Guerrilla attacks this week will be grandfathered into the original rules. beyond the limitations on how many builders can attack one space. Just to the cat c thread. I don't agree with the not being able to take a city. However, if a city is being taken through guerrilla action, then the guerrilla action MOCed should represent something worthy enough to take a whole city. There should be a lot of bribes or maybe an act of sabotage of a major structure, or a defense regiment. I didn't really want to say this, but I am not sure if Kai and Garm were really in the spirit of the rules with their attack on Ras-El-Akhen (k12) As per the rules "The guerrilla action would be something to affect that area. It could be repairing a war-torn village, conducting a raid, a spy job, a hostage rescue, a mission to sabotage the other side, recruiting, anything that is not directly a battle between two sides. The builder would create this MOC, and then prepare for others to “Counter” it." I would suggest that at least Garm's was evident that there was direct combat between two sides. So, I hate to be one to call foul, especially since both builders have taken so much time to make their mocs, they coordinated an attack on the final day, and it was a good story. IT is just, I am not sure that this attack can really be considered guerrilla. Perhaps we let you two refocus this to a warzone?
  23. Last day!!! I look forward to seeing how this battle comes out.
  24. First, congratulations! Second, it is funny, because over here I was renting a house a couple years back that the owners were trying to sell, the Real Estate agents begged me to keep models up because it showed people "potential" of the house. This house didn't need help, it was in a very desired neighborhood and huge (I knew the owner, they rented it to me for about 25% of what it should have been rented for). For a grad student it was a mansion! (it even had its own library!!!) Anyway, the point was, they thought having the Lego everywhere was a attractive feature! haha.
