Wow, that is dark orange? My eyes just assumed it was brown with the wrong color adjustment, but since the rest of the colors are spot on, I don't know why I thought that.

This is true, it just has to be an enemy occupied area. No neutral zones. Correct, I will fix that on the next edit. -
Challenge IV FACTION MINI CHALLENGE (EXTENDED ONE WEEK)

Well, my personal goal was to create a pretty lively set of challenges. I hope it works.- 51 replies

I think this is a great contraption to bring water the the aqueducts. The blood-letting is good too!!! Great Job Mccoyed! I am personally refraining from giving thumbs up, since I am doing most of the running and have to stay neutral. But, i will come back and put one down if this build can't get a second. Thanks Basiliscus for helping out with this part of the competition.

Challenge IV, Category C explained. RULES THREAD

Well, all three factions fly the Kaliphlin flag foremost, but in private, some of us have brainstormed that the Ulandians main colors were Green and Blue, but the different cities (Xersia itself was supposed to be Blue and Gold) and legions have other colors. I would say the council would stick to blue and red, while the Desert King may fly a bit of black and red with the Blue and Red. But... to make it easy, and if you are flying just one color, the Council should be Blue, Ulandus should be green, and the DK should be black. But again, as with all GOH, we aren't a hundred percent stuck on proper flags. -
Yeah, I think we could take that out. I can edit the title if you want.

I will fix that. I should rephrase that and put Sunday, not end of week. Most likely, I will create the voting thread on Monday afternoons. -
Book II, Chal IV - Kaliphlin Civil War (Results Posted)

Yes, there are three more chapters, I am just really overworked right now and slow on these last three, and the MOC for Chapter 18 is not finished, because I made it WAY too big... So that is my fault. There is one more DK chapter coming, but DK is the least fleshed out. If you have some good ideas for it, then shoot me a PM, there is still time to add some stuff for that side. OR, in the least I can tell you if your ideas are too far off based.- 272 replies

Good questions, I will have to put some clarifications up in this thread. Yest, Guerrilla builds can be any size, and I think what you suggest about matching should be a general rule, so we will add it here. Good one for sure. As for posting them, I think a link in the cat c thread would be best, with separate MOC thread for the build itself, as has been the case most of the time in the past. Second, I think you are right, maybe we could use the " " as the universal sign. I know we +1 in the UoP builds, but I don't want to confuse it, so we can just go with the thumbs up. I have asked about the PM in our behind the scenes forum, I don't think I have the ability with my account to do that. So we will need help there. I know TOR in the pirates forum actually had private forums for each side, that would be cool in this case as well. -

Warzone 3: The Nestlands Insurgency. Location: G15 Who Can Participate: All Factions Terrain: This battle happens in the Northern Nestlands region. (The following is Gedren_y’s description of his home territory) “The mountain in the center of the grid is known as Ghuin Nol, and is described as predominantly light colored stone. The terrain is somewhat like Asian equatorial rainforest. The Nestlands settlements are mostly on the south and east faces, but Skywatch Perch is at the peak, and is manned by the High Guard. The mountain is honeycombed with natural caves, and would be a good strategic position if someone wants to overrun the commercial and production centers of the Nestlands. There is very little drinkable ground water, as it is too mineral rich.” History: It is said that the Kaliphlin Civil War started in the Nestlands. Even before the council was willing to recognize they were at war, the Nestlands were busy fighting for their right to live as they desired, under their own rulers and religion. As the Ulandian Forces surrounded the High Council Enclaves of Mypa Stedor and Berigora, the Nestlands held out valiantly. However, overwhelming attacks by the 5th Legion subdued the Northern Nestlands region, and put a green blip on the campaign map. Some said that the Nestlands clans were fighting an unfair battle, as they pledged neutrality, and when they refused to swear allegiance to the “New Council” as Ulandus has styled the government that they are trying to install, the Blazing Swords (5th Legion) forced compliance. Mini-challenge: Now that the war is in its first month, and most of the 5th Legion has moved on to secure more territory, the Nestlands Clans have taken the fight back against the Ulandians. Small pockets of resistance, armed with Mpya Stedor weapons, have begun to overthrow the officials Ulandus had left behind. The challenge here for High Council builders is to depict one of these insurgency operations succeeding against Ulandus. Ulandian builders should depict on of the insurgency attacks failing, and Ulandus forces prevailing. Desert King builders should depict their forces taking opportune attacks against both sides. *this doesn’t mean you have to depict DK supporters attacking both sides at once, just attacking one or the other. Restrictions: 32x32 with limited overhang, SPECIAL: Must have an irregular base. (hey, we are about improving our skills here, aren’t we?) Due Date: March 29th Title Tag for MOC's thread: Title of Moc [WZ2:G15, Faction Name] When posting a link to your entry to each battle thread, make sure you note which zone you are picking as the next warzone if you win. You may want to coordinate with others from your faction. WARMAPSTARTNOWnonum by skaforhire, on Flickr

Warzone 2: Battle for the Reservoir Location: G12 Who Can Participate: All Factions Terrain: This battle zone is along the Qar Ahken River’s banks, which are bordered on both sides by long swaths of fertile land, irrigated by the rich waters or the life-giving river of Kaliphlin. Specifically, this battle will be fought near the river, around the Flagg Aqueduct Filling Stations. History: Besides making oodles of money, Dextrus Flagg also used some of his vast fortune to improve Kaliphlin. When he took over, his oil interests in the Lower Parched Lands suffered because they could not sustain enough workers at well sites due to the cost and effort it took to move potable water to the remote locations. There was a solution already available; the vast aqueduct systems stemming from the Rakath Mountains already supplied many farm locations in the Nyika Tupu Desert. The old network did come all the way to the Qar Ahken River, but most of the old ducts had been destroyed or decayed when crossing the river. Those that still made it across the river had very little water left to take into the next desert. However, there were still aqueducts that lay dry on the other side of the river, that extended far into the Parched lands. Flagg was given an engineering choice, repair the ducts across the river, or find a way to pump the river water into the old aqueducts on the west side of the river. He chose the latter. So, the region along “Gentle Curve” was converted into large pumping stations that filled a reservoir, in turn the aqueducts were connected to the reservoir, and the excess water began flowing into the Parched Lands once more. Mini-challenge: All three factions have recognized the importance of this location. Who controls the Reservoir controls the terrain within the middle of the lower parched lands. For this reason, the winning side will also claim H11 too. The builders must create a MOC that depicts one of the many filling stations or other element of Flagg’s reservoir. In addition to creating this work, the builder must show their side taking possession of the area, either through force, subterfuge, or maybe even “just getting there first.” It should be evident that your faction has taken control of the aqueduct, pumping apparatus, or part of the reservoir. Your interpretation of any piece of the reservoir system is up to you, but remember this isn’t science fiction, the devices you show should be feasible with simple medieval level mechanics. Restrictions: 32x32 with limited overhang Due Date: March 22nd Title Tag for MOC's thread: Title of MOC [WZ3:G12, Faction Name] When posting a link to your entry to each battle thread, make sure you note which zone you are picking as the next warzone if you win. You may want to coordinate with others from your faction. WARMAPSTARTNOWnonum by skaforhire, on Flickr I hope you all like this one, I thought it would be a lot of fun to do.

Challenge IV FACTION MINI CHALLENGE (EXTENDED ONE WEEK)
SkaForHire replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
There is no number. I think there are technically multiple in Petraea. This is just for story purposes, and no hard or fast rule. You can have a character that lives anywhere. In the story, Gabe's character is in charge of Beringoria, but that doesn't mean your character can't be there or you can't build there. It just means that he has final say of big matters of that city. You could even be a lord of a town, and still reside in another town! Its very open-ended. Someone will let you know if you go too far with something, trust me! So for now, do what you want.- 51 replies

Adair, you can being posting now. We can wait for the sigfig. You also don't need to use your sig fig in builds, that is up to you. So you could do a challenge build without him. -
I will put it in the history for the battle of g15. It will probably be up tonight when I finish the ranks.

Challenge IV, Category C explained. RULES THREAD
SkaForHire replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
You should post your entry in a dedicated thread, and post the link in the battle thread. You can do both. One per battle, and one guerrilla per week, and then one counter per week (if there are any to counter). Remember that they have to be approved to count though, so make sure they are good! Whereas you could work in conjunction with other builders, no cohesiveness to anyone else is necessary. As long as the links went directly to post with the new entry, I don't see why people couldn't do this if they wanted. -

Yes, from the rules for Challenge B: If you use your Category C builds in your storyline, there is a limit of ½ of your builds may be from Category C builds. IE: If you want to use 3 of your category C builds, you must have three additional MOCs to add to your story. And everyone, don't forget about the mini challenge. If you have not read it yet, it is here!- 272 replies

Challenge IV, Category C explained. RULES THREAD
SkaForHire replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
It was not intentional. When I made the practice map, the one that is displayed for explaining the rules, they were more even. But, when I made the official map, I took into consideration where Kaliphinites were located and which side they were on in the conflict. I would have to double check, but I believe no Kaliphlin members chose Desert King. So I didn't have a lot of extra cities to add. And geographically, I could not stretch the DK farther south with the story that has been told. Which led to the special victory condition to grant a lot of extra points. I guess DK is the challenging option this time around. On the other hand, if DK's forces can take Everlast (that little blue blip up there at the top, and hold those other zones (which are pretty well protected at the moment) they will have an upper-hand in the tally. Right now, only the High Council is in position to deny them those points. Although, I suppose there will probably be a lot of Guerilla action up there. -
I thought the Nestlands were H15, that is why it is blue :) The overall map was a little harder to determine cities on since many of the excellent features NM put into the detailed maps could not fit on the overview map. I just eyed it for most. I actually messed up Barqa's square, when it comes to victory points, but I am just going to leave it and say it represents the hinterlands of Barqa, and thus is important to control.

The only thing I would add to Basiliscus is that the Ulandians have two cultures (sorry, the second wasn't fleshed out enough on my end but, Mike S. did it justice in the throne room.) The second culture, on the Northern part of the island is more East Asian. They were probably immigrants from the East Coast of Kaliphlin right after the sinking of the original Ulandus.
