That is troublesome... That means part of the form didn't fire. IT should be fixed now -- note to everyone, if you have used this form, please resubmit, or we won't know who submitted what!

There should be a spot to write the link in the webform. This is important. In the MRCA, eventually, when factions start turning on one another they will block other factions from their ports. This will make it harder to trade, so having strong ports in your faction will help people in your faction who decide to trade.

Here are the Maps for Berelli (The Eslandolan Name for the Island.) Unlike Nelissa where the Eslandolans could control the stem of colonization, with all of the major nations in the Terraversa Sea now, it is unclear if Ivo was the first explorer to find this island. It has now become disputed territory with many names. Berelliwnogrid by skaforhire, on Flickr With grid: Berelli1grid by skaforhire, on Flickr

For the most part yes, but if you are setting up escorts or convoys for trade in the MRCA, you should probably keep your destinations secret amongst the group, lest some pirate get a hold of your plans and lay a trap. A sig fig with MOC / without MOC earns you 25 DBS automatically. There is already a mayor of Bastion. If you start a new settlement on the NEst of Thieves, then yes, you would be the mayor. If your town is approved by the end of the month, yes you would get the stipend. A fort protects all towns within its range. Building up Bastion would make it a stronger trade port, and thus for your sides traders a place they can always trade for a decent sum.

A note about armies. You can have an army, that chart is for game play only. If your armies are not used in the MRCA (the monthly raiding and commerce action) then there is no need to register them or pay any upkeep / establishment costs, etc... If the armies are being used to fortify ships or towns, then you would have to pay the gold to do so and register them. I put the chart up to have complete transparency of where our nation's resources were and what it would cost us so it was easier to strategize down the road.- 780 replies

I agree, if we run another grid war challenge in GOH (and that may happen here as well) the guerrilla attacks will be changed significantly. We have another war mechanic for GoH that we will probably try first, but that is not for a while.

True, the classification is not a hard rule, I was just giving my opinion. Garm is right. Yes, go ahead and calculate your DBs -- the only thing I would not add in my total was a 3rd free build that has the varying award. You can always spend what you have earned so far this month. You are correct. This is how you do it in the basic and EGS rules. Now, some factions have additional rules that they like their members to follow. One last thing, the piece of land has to be in the Sea of Storms or East (in New Terra). I think it could fit any class 1 and maybe class 2 -- you have to remember, that these are more game designations than actual representations, it depends on what you want the vessel to do - trade, raid, or be ok at both (for its class level) This is max size, it does not have to be square, there can be limited overhang. However, it is also the minimum size for the next level up (that may not be clear by the charts) Let the comments rip, building can only get better. perhaps I am a notorious task master when it comes to these projects... Ok, so here was the compromise when the EGS came about - Everyone, despite building ability, should have an equal chance in the "game" portion of the project. That is why each of the first builds are worth 10 DBs. After that, people are encouraged to put their best MOC and story forward. Although this system encourages everyone to build at least 2 builds a month, it does eventually award for better quality. Also, the challenges will be quality based rather than quantity, so we have some balance there. I am not sure it was the pace, as much as the one side dominating things and people just giving up. Here, if you are looking for scoring DBs on builds, it would be better to do it gradually. Also, leadership reserves the right to reject shotty applicants. Whereas we probably will not reject early "small" licenses, I think the standard for Medium and people's 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc... small licenses will probably raise quickly. Basically, if you are figbarfing or MOCing extremely under your talent level, your faction's ministry might come and reject your license (perhaps even taking the administrative fee)

You do not have to state anything, just submit the forms :) If you don't want to participate in it, don't submit the forms. But always submit the free build form, because that helps you team out!- 897 replies

Mardrier is the most fleshed out, and most important of the NPC nations. You can license buildings in any of their cities, which you can find on the Terraversa map. To do so, you can message me and I will let you know what the government's current rental fee is. -
Maxim, that is probably an artisan. I can change the map when I get home... I think I can see where that can get confusing. You are the mayor if you are the original owner of the settlement or it has been appointed to you.

We will get back to you on that one, I would think that most of those would be OK, but I am not sure how much people would want to see them come off their "home island" Reality is what you make of it, if it is too wacky or shabby, then there may be some complaints, but I don't think we will have much problem with how a ship looks. I have a bit more of the history of the Madrice Peninsula post to update, so there is a little bit more back story there... But, south of the Peninsula there is only vague histories at best, most of the continent was one large empire at one point (as late as 0AE). There is an oriental like presence in one of the southern empires. The Kingdom of the Raiders to the West are mongol / Russian like in culture. But really, your backstory is what you want to make of it if you are south of the Peninsula.

Since CD fielded most of this, I will field the rest. We will come up with a final decision for LDD for these challenges this week. Islands for Challenge 1 will be known and claimed before Challenge 2a ends. In fact, you may even know where they are in a few weeks and be able to squat on them (not recommended, but possible) Magic is kind of a grey area right now, normal sea myth is acceptable though. Mermaids, Krackens, etc... We really don't want to see fireball mages blowing up people's ships. Divine miracles, are generally acceptable.

Challenge Two: Defending Yer Claims! On the heels of the initial push for discover comes defending those claims. As the nations slowly figure out what has been claimed, and their diplomats fight within each other’s courts, it depends on the sailors and adventurers “Beyond the Lind” to keep their claims safe. Already there have been groups of sailors turning to piracy, and even violence between those who have not gone “on the accord.” Due Date:April 1st, anywhere in the world. Category A: Protect and Defend In this category you will show the beginning of your defenses against rival nations. It can be on land or on sea. Remember, settlement beyond the line is very limited and rudimentary. Fortresses won’t be made of stone at this point. For this purpose one of the limitations of this second challenge is creating a settlement that would be very new, not more than a year old. IE: mostly wood (there will be more fortification challenges to come, don’t worry!). Remember, there are not a lot of large ships in New Terran waters yet, so if you are building a vessel, it should probably be a sloop of some sort. Max ship length: 32 studs at the water. Max scene length, 48x48, with limited overhang. This category will be judged on build quality, fit with overall story, and presentation. Category B: Strike your Colors! In this category you will tell the story of a battle that happened somewhere in New Terra while the Age of Discovery was young. It can be at sea, on land, or a combination of both. Remember, settlements beyond the line are very limited and rudimentary. Fortresses won’t be made of stone at this point. For this purpose one of the limitations of this second challenge is creating a settlement that would be very new, not more than a year old. IE: mostly wood (there will be more fortification challenges to come, don’t worry!). Remember, there are not a lot of large ships in New Terran waters yet, so if you are building a vessel, it should probably be a small sloop of some sort. Builders will make as many MOCs as they want, but they will be limited to six pictures in their post. This category will be judged on build quality, story quality, fit with overall story, and presentation. Max ship length: 32 studs at the water. Unlimited build size for each picture. The winning faction will get to pick 2 new islands first off the revealed map. The second place faction will get to pick two new islands second. The third and fourth place factions will pick one island. All factions will be allowed to name their island/s, but they must be approved by the leadership council. Special: If you are building a ship for this challenge, you can license it in the EGS, but since it is for the challenge, no DBs can be earned for a free build. The same goes with any properties that you build for either challenge I or II, you may license them, but they cannot earn freebuild DBs. Entries: Your entries for this category should have their own threads, and should be linked back here. It is optional to add the front topic tag. (ie: [COR - Ch1 Cat B] title ) However, the MOC will not be officially entered into the competition without posting a link to it here.

The Crossing Series Mapbc by skaforhire, on Flickr Challenge One: The Great Push for Exploration. As noted, the three main nations of the Madrice Peninsula, Oleon, Corrington, and Eslandola are trying to explore New Terra before all other nations do. Their goal is to claim as much land as possible. In this challenge you will be sailing for your nation in order to find and establish new colonies for the glory of your empire. Or, perhaps you decide to sail to the port of Bastion in the Nest of Thieves to join the Sea Rats. In that case, you will be searching for your own new pirate bases to raid your enemies from. Due Date: February 15th anywhere in the world. Category A: The First Encounter Nobody has every reported seeing a Native New Terran before (outside of Terraversa), but there have been whole villages found on both the isles of Nellisa and Nest of Thieves. So, for sure there must be someone living in New Terra. In fact, reports that Ivo Fortesque has found an Island with natives have circulated throughout the Sea of Storms and the Terraversa Sea. In this category, builders will display the first encounter with a Native New Terran. Make sure to display some of their cultural aspects. For example, perhaps show their type of dwelling, watercraft, or maybe a ritual (these are NOT the limits of acceptability). This category is limited to representations no larger than 16 x 16 with limited overhang. This category will be judged on build quality, story quality, fit with overall story, and presentation. Category B: Land Ho! In this category, you should depict your sigfig’s first attempt at exploration in New Terra. There should be a piece of land involved in this MOC. Size limit: 32 x 32 with limited overhang. This category will be judged on build quality, fit with overall story, and presentation. The winning faction will get to pick 2 new islands first off the revealed map. The second place faction will get to pick two new islands second. The third and fourth place factions will pick one island. All factions will be allowed to name their island/s, but they must be approved by the leadership council. CHALLENGE I CHALLENGE II NOTE: Your entries to each challenge should be linked to the individual challenge thread, not this thread! New Island Discovered! King Fernado VII had seen how quickly the MCTC had pounced on Nellisa in just the few years the Eslandolans had secured the island. He felt that the island itself may even be lost to the influence of the merchant company, so he put together a two action solution. He sent Renato Filamento to Nellisa to attempt to wrestle back control of the island. He also send out a new expedition of exploration, one that would rival Cato’s and Renato’s first voyages to New Terra. He chose Ivo Fortesque, one of Eslandola’s great sailors, to lead the expedition. Fortesque, a family man and respected captain, graciously accepted his king’s commission. He was given control of the Santa Clara, along with a few minor vessels, and left for New Terra. After refitting at Kings Port, and then again at Nova Terelli, he sailed East into the unknown. He sailed 15 days due Northeast, as that was the best way to tack into the winds, and he had no specific destination. On the last day Derelin Magini yelled down from the crow’s nest of the Santa Clara, “Land Ho!” Ivo paid the young man the reward he promised the first person that spots new land, 20 gold Doubloons. He then prepared to land his vessel. It took another day to find a suitable beach, but the long boats were brought out and Fortesque himself was on the lead boat. As they approached the beach, the Eslandolians gasped in surprise. There were people there! The curious natives came out to greet the Ivo and his men. These were the first New Terrans that any Old Worlder had ever seen beyond Terraversa. As the two groups approached one another, they were both cautious, but two things stuck in Ivo’s mind. First, he was going to be a very famous man. Second, these natives did not seem too surprised to see foreigners… [OCC: Thank you to KolonialBeamter for making these wonderful pictures. Also, I am away from my map making software, so the updated maps will be made later this week.] Challenge I Challenge II

Your character can be anything you want. The ranks and positions are all things you will be able to earn as time goes on. But, if you wanted to start a a Lieutenant on a ship or something like that, then that is fine. There will be series of tasks to move up the "official" ranks, but we are not going to stifle anybody's story. Does that make sense? The ranks will be sort of like levels, and you can either play along and your character can rank up as you build the tasks, or your builder profile (you!) can just be the one ranking up.- 897 replies
