  1. On a game play note, the 2T does bring in 10% more treasure per stop. It is better for the safer, big haul routes in my opinion. However, I am already considering a retool of the class "trader" to hull higher percentages, or to raise the price on "fast" ships. The math makes the fast ships better at this point, but that doesn't make too much sense, either cargos will have to be changed, or prices significantly lowered. If it is a major retooling of the entire system after we try the MRCA, everybody who has bought a licences (one person cough cough) will be refunded their money so they can buy the appropriate license, or we will grandfather the few vessels that were bought into the system until they sink. Sorry, just throwing some ideas out there, and promising to give trade ships some more love later on.
  2. Look at the first page, the Queen's Guard already wear black, Brickwolf fits right in with the Queens Rifles, I am sure, some subset of her personal army. Welcome to Corrington, you will fit in nicely.
  3. The Swift Packet will run the risky route, and Admiral Woodbrose has suggested to the Minister of the Navy that two Corrington warships accompany the risky journey, while one convoys the less risky. Unless, we have some Corrington traders who are only sail 2, then, if they want to convoy, we would probably want to assign a warship to them.
  4. Ideally, even if you are not playing in the EGS or the MCRA games, building up a settlement helps your teammates who do, and your faction in general. There will be at least one settlement on each island we own. After we take formal possession of an island, Corrington leadership will offer the settlement up to the members first (we actually have someone lined up for the first island, not to say that more than one person couldn't put a settlement up). If nobody automatically puts up a settlement, the leadership will create a "capital" settlement for the island.
  5. Yes the wheel is too modern, but it is all I had. :( About the fleshie, we are equal opportunity employers. haha. I am fine mixing in scenes. I know others hate it, but it has never bothered me. The white hull has been my favorite since it came out, I will probably still build on in even though it has the enemy's colors.
  6. This is fantastic, I love the use of that sail!
  7. That is the plan in the future, I licensed it as commercial, as Tucker is part of Woodbrose's (my sig fig) entourage. Even though it is a government position, it is still a business to the holder of the commission, as they are paid commission on bounties. However, I think we might run some bounty mini-challenges in a few months, and I will use the bounty office as the catalyst for this.
  8. Thank you! Well, I don't have many "detail" pieces available, but it is the first pirate era ship I have built in a decade, I was happy with everything but the rigging / missing sails. Actually, Scarst is building from the same collection, so we have to share parts right now. I forgot to say, we are Corrington, we are practical, if blue looks nice, we use it. It is those darn bluecoats that get enraged when they see red though.
  9. Funds forwarded, now that my free builds are posted!
  10. (Sorry, these pictures, and those for the Swift Packet, are some of the worst I have ever taken, but I don’t have good lighting right now.) collecting bountys by skaforhire, on Flickr Lord Peter Tucker is the current Justice of the Peace for Arlinsport. He works out of one of the few Crown buildings, the Bounty Office. Although paying bounties is only a small part of his job, most people refer to him as the Bounty Bursar. Lord Tucker is known as a rough and tough character, who gave up live at his vast estate outside of Belson when the Queen personally asked him to bring peace and justice to Tiberia. Three years ago, Tiberia was very un-Corrinton-like, disorderly, chaotic, and unprosperous. Tucker has since turned the colonial town around. Today Tucker awaits the arrival of Pierre De’Boge, an Oleon miscreant that had broken trade laws in Tiberia by importing Oleon sugar without a license. Not paying the tariff is serious business, as it takes money out of the pocket of the sovereign. DSC_2487 by skaforhire, on Flickr Here the marine that caught De’Borge is marching the man up in irons to collect his reward. From here, the culprit will be taken to the small jail in town. On the steps of the Bounty Office is Barnaby MacDonald. He has already spent the small percentage of the reward for De’Borge’s capture which he earned through tipping off Lord Tucker. Now, barely able to walk, the old sea hand pokes fun at his old acquaintance. DSC_2490 by skaforhire, on Flickr MacDonald taunts De’Borge in some unintelligible gibberish, and Tucker sighs. It has been a good half a year since he had a real criminal come through his door, maybe it is a sign of his efficiency, but he sure misses the rough and tumble days of the recent past in Arlinsport.
  11. The Swift Packet is a Class 2 Fast Vessel. The painting seen below shows the Swift Packet carrying the mail to Arlinsport. Under partial rigging, the Swift Packet had just come through a Hurricane. Already repaired twice on this voyage, the Swift Packet had to limp back to Arlinsport for she had no extra sails, rope, or wood to put up the topsail and the Jib. (In reality, Ska had no extra rope, sail, or the right pieces to fully rig her, being most of his collection is in storage and his table is full of GOH materials and not ship materials!) The Swift Packet1 by skaforhire, on Flickr Captain Miles Bryan (bearded) has captained Admiral Woodbrose’s vessels for a long time now. Although not the best sailor, he knows how to barter, and that has helped Woodbrose’s merchant ventures greatly. The Swift Packet is small, fast, and does not hold too much cargo. Bryan likes to take on specie and fine textiles, as both aver very profitable and fit in the small hold. The cabin is comfortable, and sleeps three. DSC_2496 by skaforhire, on Flickr On board this vessel is also Lieutenant Sully Tanner, fresh from his triumphs in the Juniper War where he led the charge to capture Fort Doc Derdon. The first few years after the war there were few commissions in Corrington’s marines, and despite being the nephew of Woodbrose, he was barely able to find a job. With the help of his uncle he was awarded the Royal Courier position for the Belson to Arlinsport route. Often he contracted one of his uncle’s vessels to carry him and the mail to and from Tiberia. This painting depicts his last voyage as courier, as one of Lord Pennington’s favorites, Cordon Dorn. Tanner’s famous, sleeveless red coat, although probably inaccurate as he would have not been dressed in any sort of uniform for his courier position, is prominent in the following painting. tanner by skaforhire, on Flickr Since this journey, Sully has begun to make a name for himself in the New World, he has also grown older and wiser. But those are stories for another time… A few more pictures of The Swift Packet DSC_2505 by skaforhire, on Flickr She is lightly armed with two 6 pounder swivel guns on her(slight) forecastle. DSC_2503 by skaforhire, on Flickr The sterncastle holds the cabins, which sleeps four men and the ship’s boy – This is sometimes the entire compliment of The Swift Packet. 12. I would have given you approval just for the machine alone. Excellent work!
  13. General tradition in the GOH forums was to post a teaser pic that links to the thread of the free build, I am up for continuing it here, but I don't think it should be required.
  14. Yes, great set up and pic! I like that it feels like a haze is rolling over the harbor.
  15. There will have to be a special webform I will have to create ... or I will have to modify the free build form (which is most likely.) Just another thing to fix before end of month. I will add it to the pile lol. You should count all builds as free builds unless they are challenge builds or something else that specifically says not to. Yes and no... If you just posted a sigfig, then it would not be a free build, if you put together a scene, I think we have generally been counting these as freebuilds as well. Nobody is required to pay anybody anything. You could sell by yourself if you wanted.
  16. Membership page updated I removed pictures because it was unwieldy. Instead we have links to everyone's introduction. Members are listed by order joined. If I forgot you, let me know.
  17. This thread encompasses all builds within Arlinsport and on the island of Tiberia (unless in another settlement) Name: Arlinsport Ownership: Crown Location: Tiberia (Sea of Storms) Mayor: NPC Mason Denear [income goes to the treasury] Trade Value: see accounts spreadsheet Who can own property in Arlinsport: Anyone. Who can freebuild in Arlinsport: Anyone. Map: Corrington’s only colony in the Sea of Storms is Tiberia. Its provincial capital is Arlinsport, named after Queen Annetta’s father, King Arlin II. Arlinsport is known for its robust defenses and deep harbor, but it is the only such port on all of Tiberia. The majority of the island is still not tamed by Corlanders, but the island is already home to a makeshift rum industry, thanks to sugar smuggling from LeBellan to the south. The national drink of Corrington has become rum quite quickly. Some traces of gold have been found on Tiberia, but not enough to be a fully functional mining economy. Because it is one of the only Sea of Storms islands that lie outside of the warm temperate zone, it cannot grow cash crops. This means that Arlinsport is mostly a stopover for merchants going to the richer, foreign ports to the south. Although Arlinsport resembles a normal, orderly Corlander city, most of the settlements on the island are makeshift in their permanency, and thus come in all different shapes and sizes. 18. Ok, now that I think about it, there may be a slight mathematical problem with sailing this ship this month. As long as each shareholder has done their math correctly, then the license can be bought, but if one of the 7 holders goofs on how much money they have coming in this month, then after the money is transferred, the owner of the ship (Mike S) has already attempted to buy the ship, and plotted the MRCA course, only to find that he never had enough money to buy the license. SO, everyone investing may need to show proof that A) they are going to make 45DBs this month, and B) that they don't have any other expenditures?
  19. First, I love the ship. Very beautiful, and built like it would fit right into the Pirate TLG line. Excellent work. Second I really love that stock option write up. If I had my own ship done, Woodbrose would be investing right now. I have my property almost finished (A bounty redemption office for Arlinsport) but the ship might not make it out this month, so I would only be at 35DBs. If there is still a share left when I get those builds posted, Woodbrose will send word that he has the cash to help support the venture.
  20. I must be falling behind, what is SK (SoccerKid?) slide style? BTW Mike, I do agree that if there was an evolution of GOH, Eslandola would be Kaliphlin. I guess that makes Oleon Avalonia and Corrington Mitgardia, Sea rats are self-explanatory.
  21. I think this is best, if one of the parties wants to start a new thread, we can continue discussion there. Corrington thread is not the place for a duel between Oleanders and Eslandolans! :)
  22. If we want to be technical a factory in the 1600s was not the factory of the 1800s, a plantation was likely to be referred to as a factory if some sort of further production happened there. Spanish Vacqueros (cowboys) actually belonged to both the hacienda (agricultural plantation) system and the factory system (manufacturing, in this case leather). My point is that we are very open to what you want to call it. well that is pretty much the very top end of SOTL... Well, right now there is no monthly maintenance on personal ships, but that is only the first 5 classes, SOTL may need some upkeep -- after-all, they need it if they are owned by the faction. Yes, I can be the impartial judge. Betting can be done by anyone, but it would be very Eslandolan of someone to become a bookie here... haha.
  23. Well, you could do both! That would be a good way to get two businesses going, rather than just the ranch or a broker. I would personally classify the ranch as a plantation.
  24. Until the deadline of the MRCA, you could license it then submit the MRCA in the last couple hours of the month.
  25. Bregir is correct, please feel free to keep building, you actually will get some DBs for the contest entry as well. Those will be announced after the contest is judged. Yes, I have an idea of where to send our ships, so we will coordinate in a few days after Iget a chance to actually get the MRCA form up! Also, I am not a mod, so I cannot create a discussion with more than 5 members, so it might be a few discussions!
