  1. I would love to make it this way (that would allow someone to reinterpret your build!), unfortunately, because of differing collection, we just need a ship. Perhaps the previous owner of the ship may be willing to allow those MOC pics to stay with the new incarnation of the ship. But that would not be required either.
  2. That is actually exactly how it will work this month. You must MOC a captured ship (if you are a player and not a faction) to use it.
  3. Maybe someone can register the Appleseed's sister ship, the Cider Queen? (But for real, unless he wants to, he doesn't have to create a new moc to get his license back, he could just call it Appleseed II ! )
  4. LOL... it was an analogy, not the truth! Yes. For the second question, I think we would find a way where the faction gets paid money and you steal your ship back... but I guess that would have to be worked out with the faction's leaders.
  5. We should be OK on upkeep from the Royal coffers for now. It would be our only expense, unless we start actually paying our ministers salary this month. Both Scarst and I have forgone drawing our salary for the good of the nation for the time being. I am not sure if Captn Stabbin is planning on playing in the EGS, and we have not officially raised Captain Dee to a ministry position yet, but he will have one soon enough. He can decide if he wants his salary paid or not then. And as more of you enter into the governmental positions of Corrington, you can make those decisions yourself. Other than those possible expenses, we are on a pretty sure footing. Right now they are only on faction owned ships past the first three that your faction starts with.
  6. Sure! Kai already covered this, but yes, this would be fine! Nobody said anything about being New Terra's most accurate newspaper. You can direct your NPC inquiries to me. Because these are all free licenses, you have the liberty to MOC it out in a story how you got the ships back, or just license a "sister ship" as Maxim said. If these were paid licenses, then you would have to figure out a way to get them back more officially or pay a new license fee. So, in that instance the directions are "ship does not make it to the first port, but is not lost." I added the story about the leaky ship because I knew your vessel had already experienced this problem once! All of these stories are a bit customized, as the instructions on the outcome rolls are pretty plain and simple. For the question about Mardier, they are the original culture of the Peninsula, so they have a little bit of everyone in them, but think of them as close to Eslandolan. Sort of like Portugal is European in culture, but somewhat closer to Spanish in culture than Dutch. I have a few Mardier solders laying around, I will try to get a shot of them. The colors are Orange, Yellow, White and Black. Kingd's flag: Mar by skaforhire, on Flickr Trade Company Flag: Madr by skaforhire, on Flickr
  7. You absolutely can, but if you want to do it through the mining license, its more like spinning the wheel to see what you get. The percentage for gold is very low on Tiberia though. Each island has its own stat percentage that changes. When we choose our next island, we will have some idea what is available on that island (which will help use choose -- and I will have to stay silent on the pick, because I know what is where) So what do you all think about our captured ship, Pardisio? It is a Class 4A -- a pretty formidable ship. We would have to pay upkeep, but since it is only our 4th faction ship, we don't have to MOC it. The upkeep should be negligible at 15DB, but actually there may be a tweak in upkeep to 10% instead of 5% -- which would bring it in at 30DB. A possible way to offset this is have our merchants pay a fee to use the escorts, or more preferable, foreigners wishing to use our escorts could pay a 5db fee. Or, for now, we could take it out of the coffers.
  8. This is only the procedure for mines now (see mines for details). Since we got rid of the "you have to map your city" requirement, this language will only apply towards mines which are like property gambling. There will be a major revision of rules this month, if I can ever get time to do it! Sea Rats run a little differently, as long as DD is on board with this, you all should only be paying half price rounded up on all properties that are not mines. January ran a little different because all of the nations were getting full profits. The Sea Rats faction gets FIPs at the same rate as the other nations, but they do not get gold at the same rate, because their members get to build for cheaper. And let's face it, anarchy is law here most of the time! However, in unofficial Sea Rats settlments like Rassilon, the mayor sets the policy. So he may say that you have to pay full price to build in his city, and the city's coffers pocket the rest. (City bank accounts will also be changing, and most of the funds here will be available for the mayor to build city properties)
  9. Wow... too much to quote, the board blew up while I slept. I think that is a good thing, a lot of excitement here. The ruling would be this -- the ships are licensed, and need to be MOCed to be used unless they are within the 5 "no-moc" limit for the faction owned ships. In this case, unless the faction sells captured vessels to players, they don't have to be MOCed. IF they were unlicensed then they would be of no value, because we are not even gaining pictures of a MOC here -- This is the case for warships, as they have no cargo. However, a merchant that had made part of its run would also give cargo (depending on the chart) as part of the prize. A rule that is going to have to go in place is the buying or capturing a vessel that puts your fleet at over 3,6, or 9 because these are the steps that lead to the increased license fee. In the case that the free ship or a ship you are buying from somebody other than the game, there is going to have to be an administration cost. I have not worked those costs out yet but will by the end of the month. This will close the loophole where buying your 4th ship from a fast ship MOCer could potentially be a work around to the additional licensing fees once you move up a tier from owning 3 to 4 vessels. Also, coming this MRCA -- damages to captured ships. Bregir had a really good idea here, and we will implement that. After-all taking in a class 5 ship worth hundreds of DBs is a huge (although difficult at this stage) haul. Since all of the ships are in possession of the factions, this isn't a problem this month.
  10. Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List New Terra’s most reliable source for shipping news. February 616. VOL 1 ISSUE 1 Editor’s Column It has been a long time since the Terraversa Sea has seen so much activity. We can thank the current Mardieran Civil War for some of this, but we cannot overlook the influence of Eslandola, Corrington, Oleon, and the vicious hive of scum calling themselves Sea Rats. This month three new colonies appeared on the map. Elysabethtown and Port Raleigh on a newly discovered Island east of Nellisa, and Rassilon on the Nest of Thieves. Rumors have it that the Sea Rats have themselves a small navy, and were out in force, while the empires have all finally sent warships to these waters. But you all are not reading this to hear about recent history, you want to know where to send your next ventures. Tips: This is the section where we include the juiciest morsels of shipping information that we have gleaned from the taverns of Terraversa, that and the vilest slander and lies a pirate could tell! Use these tips at your own risk! Treasure Lost! Somewhere off the coast of LeBellan is the sunken wreck of Le Grande, a well-traveled government ship that was reportedly hauling gold! Eager treasure hunters may want to sweep the coast of this island in the coming months before some damned Sea Rat finds the missing treasure! Bananas wanted! It is said that the Queen of Corrington herself is pregnant, out of wedlock no less! What a scandal! It is said that her cravings can only be satiated by one food, the new world fruit, Bananas! Luckily, Terraversa is full of such wonderful delights. An enterprising merchant may find a tidy profit in a quick run between this island and Belson. But I wouldn’t stop anywhere in between, the Queen in hungry and Bananas do not stay ripe forever! MAESTRO needs nails for all the coffins they are using at Elysabethtown! That rascally new trade company MAESTRO seems to be in a bind at their new settlement. Scores of men are dying, and they have run out of nails for their coffins! The King of Eslandola has offered a great bounty to the enterprising ship’s master who can take nails from Terreli to New Terreli for the crown. Sea Rats trade fleet decimated, looking for new captains! It has been confirmed that our own L’Olius, privateer for this island, has captured three Sea Rats in one glorious battle. Most of the offensive filth are being held in the Kings Port Gaol, awaiting trial – and hopefully a hanging! Rumors from the Nest of thieves have led us to learn that the faction is dying for new members. A bounty of 10 gold per captain has been assigned! Abandon your colors now mates, I hear Bastion is pretty this time of year. Shipping Lists: Here is this month’s shipping list. From Granoleon: Reports say that a large Corlander fleet has come to port, apparently taking advantage of the treaty struck after the Juniper War. And the Oleanders needed the supply! We only heard of one ship that sailed for their nation this whole last month. The Black Marlin, Saucy Jack, Swift Packet, and Sphynx made it into port with some harassment. They were guided by the ships Mermaid and Pandora, of the Corrington Navy. The latter captured a pirate, Pardisio, off the coast of Garvey when attacked the Saucy Jack, and brought the privateer into port for adjudication. The convoy was able to outrun a Sea Rats raiding convoy off of Holder’s Rock, but just by the skin of their teeth. The Corlander flotilla was supposed to include the Knight of Stedor from Eslandola, but the vessel sprung a leak as it left port in Nelissa with the convoy, sadly it had to turn back without any profit. Also coming into port with a healthy profit was the Little Hermes of Oleon. Both the Black Marlin and the Swift Packet’s purchasing agents were able to find excellent deals in Terreli, and they made a large sum over what was expected. Sea Rats, there be your target. From Belson: Another convoy of Corlanders made it into port at Belson. The beautiful Sulky Harlequin, HMS Green Dragon, and their escorts HMS Queen’s Glory of Corrington and oddly, the Dark Lightning of Eslandola. The Coyle Shipping Company was probably hoping for a more promising payload on their flagship’s maiden voyage, but she was profitable. She had to outrun a pirate, but otherwise it was an uneventful journey. However, the Green Dragon was extremely profitable for such a small ship. From New Terreli: A fleet of Eslandolan vessels came into harbor. The Bright Owl and Aurei Lacerta, escorted by the Trovao made a handsome profit, and came back +1 vessel, as the warship caught the infamous Garvian privateer “The Fallen Angel.” A wonderful Class 5A1 prize! This might make up for the nation’s losses a bit. But that was not the only good news, the Queen of Terelli also captured our esteemed privateer “King of Mardier” off the coast of Garvey when attacked the The Flying Colt, and brought the privateer into port for adjudication. We are sure Remmy Le’nine will be acquitted of all wrong doing and be back at sea again. The Queen of Terelli was also escorting the HMS Alice. Apparently the third of her escorted ships, the Appleseed sunk in the middle of the right after leaving Terelli. It is thought that all hands went down with the ship. Sprung a leak: The Sea Rats vessel, the Parakeet took on water quickly after it left Terelli, and missed out on this trade season. Captain L’Olius captures three Sea Rat vessels! The Parakeet was one of the lucky Sea Rats this month, for off the coast of Granoleon, laden with treasure from their run, the Sea Rat’s merchant fleet met its end to The Crooked Sparrow. A brilliant victory by our great native captain, L’Olius circled the two Sea Rat escorts, The Viper and the White Skull, and forced them to collide. He then fired a couple broadsides until their colors were struck. After which he took the Wave of Knowledge. On the voyage back to this port, he learned that the Wave of Knowledge had already been attacked by pirates, and the other vessel in their flotilla, The Dogged Wench had sunk a day earlier, not 15 leagues from the site of the battle. IT was only when all of the crews were imprisoned at the Gaol here in Kingsport that L’Olius found out that the fifth Sea Rats vessel, La Dindon slipped away. It is rumored that she found a very handsome profit in Granoleon. If you would like to advertise in the Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List, or just want to commit libel against your friends and enemies, please contact us. Our fees our quite reasonable. (OCC: I think this sets up the Sea Rats for a major jail break, or a major bribing scheme to get their ships back) mrcaquickjan2016 by skaforhire, on Flickr Remember, if you MOC the results of the MRCA, you can get 10 extra DBs this month. The free build form will be adjusted to add a check box for this.

  12. Thank you everyone! I hope to get pictures in better light up, so the teal color is a little more evident. LOL. I don't know, but I suppose she could be!
  13. Wow! Great work! These brick built hauls are really coming out! Very formidable, indeed! I would say Class 3 A, that is the first class that is a W (effectively doubling gun strength). But 4A does get 2 PO, meaning you have two chances to catch prey (flotilla or singular) when you are a predator, and can take more people on in battle. This would be really on the small side of 4A though
  14. As long as you are on the Corrington Register, I don't think the Queen has a problem with it. (if you are not in the EGS, we can just say you registered it)
  15. There will always be power gamers in any game. Some people are going to make a lot of money in the system, but upping costs will make it incredibly hard for new members. I supposed people could get board with reaping in tons of cash and not having much to spend it on in the beginning, but I suppose it is the way you play the game. 1>6>10 would only be 450, if you are a speed 3 vessel and can land at all those ports. Right now there are anywhere from 1-3 NPC pirates / privateers in every zone, the fail rate was quite high this month. The way to change what you are saying seems to be that nobody should get a free license, then there is always risk. The free license was to get people into the game right away, and considering how many people lost their ship this month, I don't think we should take away the one free license.
  16. Seriously last post until I get my work done today -- well... Alright I did not see that when I gave my previous opinion, April seems a bit too early, I was thinking we were talking about Nov or Dec. I look at it this way, your properties are a low yield, rather safe investment. The merchant runs are high yield (some extremely) but carry a lot of danger. Just ask the Appleseed, who no longer exists. Yes, NPC pirates were quite killer this time around (and completely randomly rolled)
  17. For some yes, for others no. The results write-up is on its way late tonight or tomorrow, along with the current "bank account" totals and some statistics of the first month of BoBS. I will share one of those stats now -- 93!!! registered free builds. Great job everyone!
  18. This is probably the most acceptable solution, as was said, Maxim did say it was for BoBS to begin with. Not getting the automatic 10DB would probably appease anyone who had a problem. And trust me... After you hear the results of the MRCA, MAESTRO will want all the ships it can get.
  19. I registered this ship for you so that it could continue in the MRCA -- A note for everyone, please make sure that you register your ship before you send it out on its MRCA run! It was easy to find which ship was missing from the registry, because you replied "no" that it wasn't registered! haha
  20. There will be a chance for adjudication through another form. This would only be for the previous month. If you don't agree with the totals after I post them in a few days, then you will be able to use that to send relevant information that will help us fix your "account"
  21. The Bank of Corrington has officially extended a 10 DB line of Credit to MKJoshA, and 3DB credit to TitusV. Make sure your numbers line up next month as I am not sure if the Bank will be willing to keep funding foreigners.
  22. You make a great point, Stig, We will have to revise that, expect it in this month's revisions that "Size does matter!" On a note to everyone, I have had a chance to start calculating totals today (don't expect it done today)... Some people did not get their free DBs for their FBs because they didn't register them, but they did buy a license! Make sure to do both so you can make more gold!@
  23. Great story, very funny! I like the hut, it flows well!
  24. As most have pointed out, we have a loose "historical" timeline, it just has to be Late Medieval to Age of Sail. In the game system its all about buying licenses for that reason, otherwise we would have to rate a caravel verses a 3rd rate, and clearly we know who would really come out in that situation. Build what you want as long as it fits the broad period. Well, then I quit. My torpedo cruiser was about to be unveiled!
