LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion
Forresto replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm really eying the spider mold, pretty awesome if combined with one of the Chima molds. @Steampunk Sheriff Where did you get that torso on your avatar? -
The real issue is perpetuating antiquated and racist stereotypes. Indigenous Pacific Tribes mostly still exist, some have lost everything to invaders except their traditions, and are extraordinarily different in aesthetics and cultures. Not to mention some of these cultures are dying because of dwindling populations, lack of land and resources, and assimilation into main stream cultures such as in Hawaii. A homogenized mish mash of various pacific cultures in a generic 1940's esque depiction of a native pacific islander is woefully uncouth today. Its disrespectful. I do think however it is the wrong move to entirely dismiss the idea of sets based around native peoples, it just should be done with a certain level of respect. Lego could still have sets around or with representatives of a Native group but they need to pick one cultural region and be faithful to their culture. One of the Hawaiian Islands would be a good pick, given the history of the British in that region. Include a page or two of educational facts in the instruction booklet. Make it a teaching moment. Address the impact of Imperialism and Colonization. In fact if Lego wants to make a statement, make the good guys the islanders and the bad guys an invading European Army, with maybe some pirates as the "allies" of the islanders. ~ Imagine Maori Warriors with the tattoo extended to even arm printing fighting really well printed British Redcoats? We could get some incredible minifigures with a more history minded theme.

The inside is a bit empty feeling but overall you have excellent texture a nice attention to detail. The company marching by is a good touch! -
At a certain point trenches are useless...I think they're absolutely so with your behemoth lumbering forward. I am blown away! Beautiful work! A true complement to your AT-AT, or is your AT-AT complement the AT-M6 at this scale, its hard to know!

I loved Ice Planet as a kid, best theme alongside Insectoids hands down! Your build is such a great representation of the theme that is well balanced in color. The color scheme of Ice Planet can come off as garish if not done right.

Thank you for what seems to be a very promising game! I may have been in it for a day but I had a ton of fun. Well and I guess karma got me for being a big advocate for a day one lynch I still think a Day One lynch is logically better then none, but maybe my opinion will change with time.

If you want to know the motivation for what happened I highly suggest going back to the Trial by Jury game, which most of us playing in this game were apart of. Its one of the most bizarre and wild mafia games i've seen on the forums, well short of the famous town winning on the final day out of nowhere from a year or two ago. I'm not a huge fan of meta playing, but this came from unusual circumstances.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Forresto replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Which is unfortunate. If they announced that sets were retiring soon they might make quite a bit of money from last minute buyers. -
Yep from the Ghostbusters Ecto truck from the newest movie. Two of the Ghostbusters got the dual molded boots and two were just given regular all dark tan pants with a print. They can be expensive at times. I got mine for two dollars each, so if you can't find them cheap, they have come down in price.

This is so cool! You should tweet it out to Rian Johnson. With all the haters of the film I think he could use seeing a Star Wars fan who went the extra mile and built one of the coolest set pieces of the film.

So many fascinating techniques such as the Queen's teeth. I especially adore your xenomorph. I may steal that build so I can put one next to my NECA Alien Isolation Xeno.- 36 replies

Holy Canoli! What a MOC! One could write an essay on all the incredible builds and techniques throughout but i'll settle on one. The narrow cracks with ore/lava/undersoil showing through the ground are brilliant!

Nope he wears boots. Revenge of the Sith Rogue One A New Hope Peter Cushing wore slippers though for many of the scenes that were shot above the waist however.

Mafia School- Mad Monster Mansion: Day One
Forresto replied to Kintobor's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
No Day One lynch means we have no information to go off of tomorrow. Which means we will be blind in our town vote. This is the only day we can risk lynching a civilian without it hurting us too badly if it happens. We won't have this opportunity later, when every civilian is fundamental to victory. Every day from here on out the scum will be taking us out one by one, unless there's a blocker and even then only if the blocker is lucky in their picks. These are my final words on this. If anyone else agrees, please be more vocal, because the day is closing fast. -

I used to work at an arts aftercare program for low-income families for several years, and I noticed of course Lego is one the most popular toys amongst the several hundred kids i've seen there. The problem is most of the kids looked at Lego as this incredible thing completely out of reach. Certainly kids have that mentality about most things anyways since they have to wait for their parents to buy them toys. However I had the distinct feeling this was something more. Then I talked to a parent about it and they told me they would buy the smaller sets occasionally but never the big ones. To them their kid want Lego, they want hot wheels, they want a playstation, they want an action figure so how can I justify paying $150 for one Lego set when that's several dozen hot wheels cars, or several action figures, or half the price of a PS4. Correlation not causation, especially since my example is anecdotal, but I think high pricing is going to have a lot to do with the drop off in Lego sales. I know there are many examples of fairly priced sets but that doesnt make the big sets cheaper. I don't know if there's a solution that doesn't diminish quality. Less sets per wave? -

Mafia School- Mad Monster Mansion: Day One
Forresto replied to Kintobor's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I find it curious how obviously you misconstrue my logic to divert attention from you, especially only when pressed upon why, when you finally posted, why you didn't contribute any form of analysis of the day. Please reread my earlier post, especially the parts in bold. Let me explain my logic for the third time now. When you post something its for the public to see the entire game. Its something we can track and look back on. Patterns can be identified in posts and voting to determine if someone is coasting along with little initiative, sowing confusion, backstabbing, or doing anything consistently suspicious. (Its also why sometimes a member of the Scum may post a lot, to create a paper trail of "good behavior" so they seem less suspicious when people analyze patterns, although this is not always the case. Back to this in a moment.)* Day One votes have little to go on and tend to devolve into McCarthyism far quicker then usual. Its this lack of knowledge that usually results in a townie getting lynched in a Day One Vote, since there are far more innocents then scum. In my experience from other parties i've been to, the lack of a Day One lynch can prove disastrous. I therefore believe we need to vote someone out today. We must then mitigate hurting the town on the chance we lynch an innocent. Therefore the logical response is if we have to vote, we should vote for who is the least active, the person with the smallest paper trail we can later analyze. The unknown variable. Non active party-goers tend to draw suspicion, and if they're innocent then they're drawing suspicion away from scum. This can be devastating if scum divert votes for the suspicious quiet person in the corner when we've got someone highly suspected of being scum on the voting block. When I voted for you, and advocated for others to follow suit, you were nowhere to be seen. Now you're here. Until I see where you stand, I will not change my vote to someone else, especially with you so far from being voted out yet. ~ I find it curious though how you're trying to cast this on me being suspicious. I have voiced my opinion and wear it on my sleeve. -
I never realized how many bald Sith there was. Apparently the dark side corruption leads to hair loss like Gollum.

Mafia School- Mad Monster Mansion: Day One

I will change my vote if they become more active. I gave my reason and my logic. If you disagree fine. But they still haven't shown up to defend themselves. I have given them ample time to do so. ~ As for being forceful, I find it far more damaging to the town to not vote out someone on day one What i'm saying though is that if we vote someone out today, its going to be a huge risk we vote a townie out. You're right, it could be Dracula is quiet now and picks up later in the game. I'd love that. However if we're going to take the risk and vote someone out today, it might as well be the unknown variable who has no pattern or any opinions we can analyze and track. ~ If we don't want to vote someone out that's fine, but scattering our votes does nothing but aid the scum. If we don't want to vote for someone then lets all at least be honest.
