  1. you can now vote on our new military leaders!
  2. okay, so I finally found the time to get the voting started. So everybody who's a member of GoH can vote, and you have one vote per catergory. So without further ado, here are the applicants and the accounts of their heroism. the entries: Hersir of Archers Wat Tambor: MKJoshA: Alfadas: Hersir of the Infantry: Gunman: MKJosha: Jakon: Hersir of the Cavalry: Alfadas: DrColossus: link Garmadon: MKJoshA: Great work you guys - thanks to everybody who entered! And please tell me, if i forgot someone. A possible vote could look like this: Archers - Peter Infantry - Paul Cavalry - Mary
  3. We'll miss your entries painfully!
  4. Looking really great, and it seems like you have just qualified yourself for Mitgardia!
  5. so what's going on pals, have you guys fallen asleep? We need to make sure we stay ahead of the pack!
  6. Okay, lets do some sort of pirate colab for BMA then, I'd be in!
  7. too bad you guys aren't doing a pirate layout anymore, otherwise I would have pushed myself to finish the shooner until November ...

well thanks guys. I know progress is slow, but I wanted to show that I took in some of your considerations! @Mr.T: that is the big question. Currently I'm meandering between brick build 2+2s and prefabs. I can't decide either way. Sorry about the Endeavour guys, but the caravel isn't turning out so bad either, so I think it's a good compensation. Maybe I'll try myself at her again another time, once I've come up with a good idea to get the windows right that is ... @CGH: Beluga's are the most amazing animals, wouldn't wanna hack 'em ...
  9. thanks guys! @ME: sure, any time, we got a guest room! It's gonna be diffucult though convincing my kids to let you play with it too! Actually it's going to be on display again in November in Antwerpen. @Hammer: progress is on the way, it's just a matter of scraping together enough money though. @Scaevola: the town hall is almost finished, but not very visible here. As soon as I get the final dark brown plates in, I'll show more stuff in detail. @Garmadon: I seriously had no idea what I got myself into when I started this. Now I just can't stop ... @Vlad: as I said before, come to Antwerpen this fall
  10. Saving is not a problem if you live on your own, it becomes a problem when you have a family to support and two kids who both want presents every now and then. After all, Lego is a childrens toy and I think Playmo (unfortunately I don't like them) is doing a much better job in proving a much broader range of ships ranging somewhere between 30 up to 100 something Euros. Lego had that in the old days, and it was fine like! And all I'm suggesting here is that it would be nice if they returned to this policy. Sorry to insult the AFOL in you by thinking about the kids who will not be able to afford even bigger ships!
  11. says the one with the milions on the bank account that I don't have ...
  12. This is really cool, I like the ship, the swamp and of course the fog. Great to see Nocturnus is back once again!
  13. Swedes, Dutch and Americans seem to make up almost two thirds of GoH ... We have plenty of regions without eternal snow in Mitgardia, in fact only a hand full of my mocs contain snow. And we obviously have the best beer, all those other guilds are simply too square to enjoy a good buzz every now and than ...
  14. Where's Jim? - Okay, actually I know this chapter, Jim and Huck getting lost in the fog ... Always loved the book, so I gotta love this moc!
  15. Prussia was a seapower, albeit neither a colonial seapower nor an important one until the war against Denmark: read this and this! And, I'd say that this ship here (Friedrich Wilhelm zu Pferde) might come close:
  16. I think you got me wrong for good, I was actually asking for more small ships, not for bigger ones. And I was doing so for precisely what you just mentioned: the price tag! I'd much rather buy my kids two smaller ships for 50€ than one for 100€.
  17. I really love this quite a bit and think that is the best you've build so far Garmadon!
  18. Well maybe bigger hulls would make more sense for ships of the line, but how many of those were around during the golden age of piracy? Not too many I'd assume. I'd really prefer more realistic pirate ships, meaning mainly sloops and ketches. Even Blackbeard mostly sailed sloops and in the end was sunk by sloops as well. So why do they always exeggerate the pirate ships?

There is more tension in my late medieval ships than in this one, where I'm only bending innward by one stud. So given the length of your broadside, I'd say woud could see even less tension.
  20. @sebeus: bending the broadside is possible though, s. my schooner topic.
  21. just because I'm not posting mocs like crazy, doesn't mean I'm not building anymore, but working on three modules and two pirate mocs at the same time slows progress down a little. Anyway, here is a current status update on Thorshaven. I think the full extent of what I was planning to build is slowly becoming visible. Quite threatening to the wallet if you ask me ...

I actually haven't made that much progress yet, but I took in some considerations and the full extent of the hull is becoming visible @sebeus: it's actually possible to bend the broad side a little, check this out:
  23. So how come you're flying the German flag being Austrian yourself? That said, cool stuff, time to build it for real!
  24. A new design for small ships would be cool though, always liked them much more.
  25. patience mates, folks here also have a real life to cope with every now and then, and quite frankly, my job is killing me atm.
