  1. I have heard many people suggesting using the Butch Cavendish hairpiece from The Lone Ranger, which would be far more suitable.
  2. Very nice and makes me want to have a game! A life-size table would require a few more bricks though! (Hopefully we'll also get a ping-pong bat as a Collectible Minifig accessory before long - to stop MOCs having to use those long police lollipop parts!)
  3. I was thinking exactly the same - this could then be recoloured light brown to be reused as an accessory for a future CMF 'Silent Movie Star' (aka Charlie Chaplin)
  4. I wish there was a better selection of doors - mainly interior doors like white doors in a house without window panes or brown doors for an old hotel. The same applies to window shapes too - a much better range would be great. I think the red door was part of one of my Mum's Lego sets we 'inherited'!
  5. Some good ideas based on parts available and a few likely to be made in future... I've always wanted to see a blue macaw version of the original parrot. Another pirate would have to be significantly different from the Series 8 one. There is a good air hostess Concept Art (was this a Toth design?) which would look great - the only thing is the hairpiece was part hat/part hair so several of these would all look the same rather than being able to use other hairstyles/colours. The wizard will surely appear (though maybe not yet due to the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings). There will be a barbarian in the next series so hopefully a wizard will fit in with this and the elf and dwarf for a Heroquest-style team. There was a jockey in the Team GB Olympics line but for me a jockey should look like a Grand National Jockey. Hopefully one will appear soon so we eventually get a number of repeats with different outfits. A damsel would please castle fans - but I would prefer a Marie-Antionette lookalike. A medieval monk would look great with a brown-haired version of the Series 10 Grandpa's hair. I really like your silent movie star, the archaeologist and the boy scout.
  6. I'm not too bothered about Mr Gold - it's a rubbish looking figure and parts wise it is pretty useless. I am more annoyed that some regular figures are more difficult to find than others. Also the tin soldier in the encyclopaedia would have been useful to collect for a brass band but I'll only get one as not going to buy several copies of the book or buy at e-bay prices so I'm more annoyed about that.
  7. As always a great review with top quality pictures. Although not my favourite series, I do hope these will continue for a long, long time. I like how the review groups together the themes and over time these have become larger as a new character is added... Hopefully the circus will get a strong man and there will be more sports included and we soon get some musicians. I do like how there are a good deal of 'everyday' town people like the librarian, grandpa and decorator in this series, like the waiter, plumber and roller skater in Series 9. Hopefully, we will see a fishmonger, bellhop, carpenter, air hostess and some more older people (like Grandpa and Seriess Grandmother) and kids (school, on the beach, birthday party...) to populate our towns and build more families in future series. As the review highlights, there is always something for everyone, whicever theme you enjoy.
  8. I can definitely see the Grandpa's 'hair' piece used again in future for a medieval monk/Friar Tuck figure...
  9. I have always wanted a Safari Theme ever since set 6672 was released in 1990 (the jeep with the film crew and monkey). I'd like to see this remade and perhaps use moulds like the ostrich and camel from Prince of Persia in City sets. It would be good to have a Nature subtheme (not necessarily all in one wave or particularly large sets) with some new animal moulds, as this is an area in which Lego has really ever fully explored. Some sort of 'Animal Rescue' or Wildlife Documentary' theme would be appropriate (with a focus on conservation) without having the need to have guns, etc. This would appeal to both boys and girls and I am sure smaller more affordable sets would sell well.
  10. For me the most disappointing part is the confirmation that the Toy Soldier was not part of the Series and will most likely be the special figure for the Minifig Encyclopaedia (this should have been the Golden One as no need to have multiples). I was hoping to build up a marching band using the Soldier's torso but won't be buying lots of encyclopaedias. Hopefully there will be some Marching Band figures in future series as well as other musicians and more sports.
  11. Thanks for the picture, Grogall! Perhaps not as exciting as seeing previous Series being unveilied as we have already been introduced to the characters and most of the parts. Librarian - a nice counterpart to the Computer Geek and good to get another lady's face in glasses. I don't like the Lego books though as far too big - is there any significance to the 'Oranges and Peaches' title? Painter/Decorator - a decent addition to every town, which is always welcome Warrior Princess - Not my cup of tea but adds something new and will be popular no doubt Sea Captain - Potentially my favourite of the Series. The seagull is a nice addition and I can see plenty more maritime themed MOCs on the horizon Baseball Player - Again, a nice counerpart to the Series 3 batsman. I always welcome variations. It seems the Stackers are the rivals of the Clutchers! Sad Clown - Very artistic from Lego but I would prefer to have had a different figure to expand the circus theme like a Strongman... Trendsetter - The Smartphone will be a popular accessory. Another good choice to populate any Lego City! Golden Figure - I really don't see the point... Biker/Mechanic - I don't particularly want this figure. A musician from a Rock Group would have been far better with an instrument. Grandpa - Another of my favourites - I don't like it when people use just a head to represent bald people. Native - I like the Wild West theme but this isn't the greatest figure. Paintballer - Not really interested personally Roman - Will be the most popular figure in the Series. I hope to see many MOCs with all the Roman-era figures in soon... Medusa - Frightening! Hopefully there will be more mythological characters in future... Skydiver - I only really like the green helmet Bee Lady - These animal costumes are always good but probably my least favourite compared to the rabbit, gorilla, etc... Soldier - excellent wig!
  12. My favourite film ever too! I don't really ever watch films any more but I think Jurassic Park probably has something to do with it - knowing there will never be a film that good! Your vehicles are great - I particularly like the green and red one - the colours make it obvious it is a JP theme.
  13. Hmmm... Really not that impressed by this. The building isn't particularly appealing with the 'tower' on the corner particularly ugly, the limo looks like some sort of polybag freebie and it looks like there are stickers. I wonder if the rebranded 'Creator' style means that the usual rules of modulars no longer apply as the previous ones have not had any stickers (for good reason). I won't be buying this as I don't think it fits well with the others in the line.
  14. I'm very disappointed about the Western set. One of the best builds I have seen and a real shame that most of the official sets don't even come close. I don't really buy the argument that the themes conflict - surely they would support each other? I was hoping each building would be released separately. Wild West needs to return. Sadly we have to put up with more unimaginative licensed rubbish rather than exposing how good classic-looking Lego sets can be... sorry but I'm now annoyed :-(
  15. Hopefully the Toy Soldier will not be the exclusive figure in the book as this would be something people would want to collect a number of. Yes it is very frustrating when a piece is too specific. For example, the Mechanic's name tag means that a group of mechanics will all have the same name and the Zookeeper in Series 5's torso said 'Zoo' so this would rule out using the torso for safari scenes. The Nurse's clipboard from Series 1 had a name on it too. The most annoying one was the number on the American footballer, which made the figure less desirable in terms of wanting several to make a team. Lego should think about these things before finalising each figure.
  16. Yeti – Possibly like the Yeti from the Adventurers Orient Expedition theme (Adventurers was a favourite of mine) or a Minotaur like torso to make it larger compared to other figures. Evil Mech – The original Mech will of course need an adversary but not my thing. Welder – I really like the occupational figures - perfect for any Lego City. Hoping the welder will be joined by a carpenter, bellhop, hairdresser, fishmonger and florist soon! Lady Robot – I am thinking the maid from the Jetsons. My Lego budget is spent on City so not much use here but maybe one day I'd create my own Space MOCs Jazz Musician – Yeeeeah! Fingers crossed for a saxophonist with a good mould for the instrument. Hopefully this will start a flood of musicians including Barbershop Singer, Elvis Impersonator, String Quartet, a Keytarist and other orchestra-types!!! Constable – Perfect for some old-fashioned British MOCs. Holiday Elf – I actually like 'repeats' so wouldn't be adverse to see some variations of these in future as Santa has lots of elves and they often wear different outfits, albeit in the same style (striped trousers perhaps?) Bavarian Lady – I plan to build an Alpine village so hopefully this will be good, along with other figures in future (Alpenhorn player, Swiss Milkmaid, Goat Herd...) Scarecrow – Viva the return of Farm! Probably a Worzel Gummidge lookalike although I'm wondering which accessory he will have - a pitchfork? Mountain Climber – In the sad absence of any real Sports figure this series I suppose this will provide the Sports/Leisure gap. Could be a good figure although I would have preferred a Table Tennis Player/Cricketer/Grand National Jockey/Golfer first Grandma – Sumo Wrestler hair in grey? We don't have enough hair variety in grey and Grandpa from Series 10 will need a wife. Good to have more age range and hopefully this will continue. Tiki Warrior – Not sure if this will fit any of my requirements but will wait and see. Gingerbread Man – Interesting choice as I can only think of the gingerbread man from Shrek. What sort of accessory will he have possibly a candy cane? Barbarian – Lego CMF Heroquest i s almost complete, we just need a Wizard (and maybe some more bad guys) Dinner Waitress – Hopefully a Diner Waitress from the 50s. Also a good opportunity for the roller skates to be reused. Scientist – An Einstein lookalike for certain.
  17. I agree - have always said revealing one figure a week would draw out the excitement but hadn't thought about releasing parts at a time - perhaps legs first as the least revealing? I think the accessories would probably be the most obvious part. --- I think the figures in costumes are always good fun so the Chicken Man is very welcome and I feel Lego has done a god job with this. I also quite like figures representing occupations like the waiter, cop and plumber - hoping to see more of these, including a carpenter with saw, a hairdresser and a hotel bellhop. Love the range of hairstyles we have nowadays so the Hollywood Starlet and Maid Marion figures will be useful. Dr Splitz is a nice addition to the Monster Fighters concept. I do like a good Victorian-era MOC. I knew a Casear and a Judge would appear at some point. However, still disappointed no musicians and no real sports figures (although the skater i suppose could be included here). What do people who 'army build' do with these armies and how many figures constitute an army?
  18. Having just built the Town Hall I'm really excited about the next modular! A cinema is a good choice but I don't think it really needs to be a corner building - I hope they will save the next corner for something else. I also hope they bring back the old letter bricks, which are interchangeable so different films can be advertised like the old-style cinemas. The problem with the anniversary Town Plan set was the stickers. I imagine there will be a lot of conversions so everyone shows their favourite films (I can see a lot of Star Wars!) I think a cinema will need to be quite big. However, I did like the pet shop and hope there will be more smaller shops to add to the street along with houses.
  19. No worries, Kez. I had actually forgotten about the Mr Hyde figure as it didn't seem that memorable at the time. I had also not seen the centaur picture. What is exciting though is knowing there will be more to come based on the pictures! I am disappointed not to see any musicians on the list, as well as any sports or a figure reresenting a particular nationality but the series will no doubt produce some great figures and parts. I'm off to think about which other literary figures could be made in future like Jekyll/Hyde...
  20. I believe the Galaxy Diner and Theatre is on Cuusoo for those not already aware... http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/10585
  21. I agree with this too. A better range of civilian figures would be great. I have always wanted Lego to make a set of about 50 Civilian City figures each year, different than the ones before, with a range of ages or a different theme like Beach, Office, Summer, Snow, School, Music... I don't know why they don't as I am sure they would sell well as people would want to populate their cities. Or if they cannot do this, maybe with some accessories like trees, plants, different shaped doors and windows.
  22. Yes, with much discussion over what the correct translation should be! Hopefully it'll be like Series 6 with a few revealed at a time to stretch out the excitement!
  23. Wow! I think these look pretty awful. Credit to Lego for trying something different but for me it hasn't worked.
  24. The nose of the train looks badly built to me and I really dislike the orange colour scheme. It's good it comes with minifigures but not really a great selection. The arrow designs on the side are probably the best feature. However, give me the classic Metroliner and club car or the Emerald Express any day! I'd like to see the Australian Indian-Pacific made with a good number of figures like the Metroliner, and possibly something representing the Australia Outback (kangaroos). Hope this does not mean we won't be seeing a better non-Creator train released in the near future.
  25. I hope that the CMFs continue for a long while and that every tenth series (so Series 10) will include a slightly larger accessory than usual like the following... Cyclist with a bike in a different colour from any previous bike Hospital patient in a grey manual wheelchair Shepherd with a sheep Drummer with mini drum kit
