Silver City Mafia: Day 4 - Dances With Wolves
Capt. Redblade replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Michael, I'm starting to get the sensation that your entire contribution to this game can be summed up as, "Yeah. Uh-huh. I agree with that. S/he's right. I agree." I don't think I've seen you form a solid opinion of your own once in this entire game. I'm hesitant to name you a suspect just yet, seeing as how we've already mistaken too many lazy townies for scum, but I think we would all appreciate it if you could do more than blindly follow everyone who actually has something to say. My people tell legends of Boris' ancestors, some of whom were scum in previous lives, and I have to say, this is actually the kind of mistake I can see him making. At the very least, we should keep an open mind to the idea. -

I originally voted for Connie to get her talking. Since she's doing so now, I will... Unvote: Connie Radford (Clanure) Between Connie and Beatrice, Connie actually seems to be trying a bit more. I'm not saying either are trying enough, but Connie is the lesser of two evils. Beatrice doesn't seem to even give a flying f**k about playing, so I'll... Vote: Beatrice Kingsley (Bob) If she doesn't want to be here, I'm more than happy to show her the door. -
Silver City Mafia: Day 3 - Winchester '73

Hmmm... what could have happened there? My first instinct is to say that Zachary was poisoned, because sudden death + middle of the day = Poisoner, but then I don't know how we could explain away the inconclusive allegiance. Janitor? I'm still not convinced Connie is scum, but she's barely said anything this whole time. If we want to get her talking, we must hold her feet to the fire. Vote: Connie Radford (Clanure) -

I have to agree with Tristan here. This is just... what? Voting hasn't even started and even then it doesn't seem like everyone's fully committed to pursuing you as a lead, so why would you want to give in so suddenly? I'm just... wow, I'm not even sure what to make of this. There's a little voice in the back of my head saying "He must be a townie who doesn't handle scrutiny well," but I don't know whether to listen to it. -

This could just be me, but I read Connie as a lazy, inactive townie. I don't think she could be scum, because a scum would have shown some initiative at this point. Connie is just blindly asking people to tell her what to do and think. I've seen it before enough times to know that it's more commonly sheepish town behaviour. -
Silver City Mafia: Day 2 - Day of the Outlaw

and every other negative emoticon I can think of. It's already been said, but, wow, what a waste of time. Talk about your red f***ing herrings. Even if Esther is town, lynching her won't weigh on my conscience after this, I can tell you that much. -
These are friggin' hilarious! Great execution of a unique concept, Oky! I especially like the mini-Bane drill and Freeze's zamboni. Kind of reminds me of the vehicle from 7884.

Silver City Mafia: Day 2 - Day of the Outlaw
Capt. Redblade replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
This has got to be one of the most ridiculous reasons for a vote I have seen in a long time. First of all because metagaming can be a very sketchy and unreliable tactic (not to mention bad form), and secondly, as Tristan points out, because we don't know if those settings have anything to do with the game at all. This is a very surprising and curious 180° turn, and in the space of 15-ish minutes no less. I fail to see how Boris' reasoning makes anything resembling sense, and your very rapid turnaround on the matter makes me a little suspicious to say the least. Even here, you're just proving your nephew's point. All you do is offer a disagreement to what he said and place your vote. Both without any explanation or justification, and both with no thought behind them. So you don't believe you're being fluffy, that's fine, no one ever does. But can you tell us why you don't think you're being fluffy? Offer some specific posts that show off a well-devised contribution or two? You probably would have been better off voting without any additional comment. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. But seriously, folks. I'm finding Esther's softclaiming and coyness surrounding her potential roleclaim to be more than a little tiresome. Yesterday, she promised us she'd claim only if she reached thirteen votes, and while that didn't happen then, I'm sure we can reach the magic number today. Her continued silence is getting us nowhere, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to hear her 'fess up in some detail. Vote: Esther Thomson (Esurient) -

While I agree that Zachary seems to be fishing for information, I still think Esther is the more likely scum. She's softclaimed twice now and it's starting to look like she's just stalling so she can come up with a plausible PR to claim and get us off her backs. If Zachary was scum with Esther, he wouldn't need to fish for info on her role. He'd already know she was talking out her megablocks. My guess is he's a clumsy townie or independent trying to get a handle on what's going on. -
Silver City Mafia: Day 2 - Day of the Outlaw

If you had read the quote I posted, my reason for thinking Drake was scum-killed is that he had his throat slit. This is comparable to the MO of Rutherford's murder before this whole mess started. Which leads into my next point... It is certainly possible that someone protected Esther on the basis of her softclaim, but protected her against what? It's more likely that the scum killed Drake, which still leaves the unanswered question of why Drake over Esther? -
Silver City Mafia: Day 2 - Day of the Outlaw
Capt. Redblade replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Drake could barely even be considered a softclaim. Esther is really the only claim we have at the moment (besides Sheridan, but I think we've moved past that for the most part), so how could she have survived the night if she is a town PR? This. Drake was probably a scum kill, so why him and not Esther? -
This post is suspicious. Up until now I was willing to pass off your defending Sheridan as clumsy roleplaying, but what makes you so sure a role cop wouldn't want to verify her allegiance for us? It's already been explained that Scapegoat is just another word for Miller, and Miller is a role, so surely there would be no reason for the role cop to sit idle while this question hung over our heads. When I first read this post, it almost seemed like you were trying to discourage the role cop from acting. Wow, that's quite an impressive 180° turn in less than an hour. If you don't understand the role, you can always look it up in the ancient Mah-fee-ahs-kum texts. That's really the whole reason they're there. In my past lives, I did just that myself when I didn't understand a role. Your radical agreement with the town implies that you are now skeptical of your daughter's words. And yet until this point you have been the first to defend her. Again, I'm still willing to accept that you might have been roleplaying a little too hard, but this is the kind of behavioural inconsistency that the elders taught us to watch out for. Your second post is very fluffy. It's probably more roleplaying, but it reads as very submissive and noncommittal, as if you're saying, "Yeah, okay, do what you want. Ignore me completely. Nothing to see here. La-de-da-de-doo." Looking back over your other posts this day, many of them seem to be the kind of substanceless fluff posts one makes when one wants to look like they're participating (and believe me, I know a thing or two about those). You are very heavy on the roleplaying, but not so much on the gameplay. Just to get the ball rolling, I will... Vote: Michael Thompson (Mencot)

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Capt. Redblade replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Go and rewatch the scene in TDK where Joker kills Gamble. Or the scene in Batman Begins where Scarecrow and Falcone meet in the asylum. Then tell me if you still think that way. -
Pretty sure Mayor Nelson and I both separately explained it to you. And seriously, all posts? Even ones made in the C&D thread? Even ones made in the C&D thread before the game started? I do think he's roleplaying, but I am speaking up more for the benefit of the town at large. You seem to have grossly misconstrued the Mayor's words and in the process you pulled off some baffling Olympic-level conclusion jumping. I find it suspicious that you automatically go for PR fishing as an explanation and I am trying to get a clear explanation for it. By speaking up, I like to think I am bringing potentially scummy behaviour to the attention of the town. I, uh, I don't know what exactly this has to do with the conversation regarding the Mayor, but... okay. I can see where Sheridan and Michael defending each other might be a clumsy attempt at roleplaying, but I can't say I've observed enough of Damien at this point to opine on him. I'll have to reread some of his posts. This kind of seems like an attempt to distract from the matter at hand.
-
I can't necessarily speak for our horny mayor, but this statement from Esther bugs me somehow: And of course, she is referring to this statement of Mayor Nelson's: It seems innocuous to me, as I'm sure it did to most everyone else. It seems to me, Esther, that the mayor's post was a harmless bit of roleplay. Many of his posts give me the impression that he's something of a Casanova and I believe "get a good look" is meant to imply that he's checking out the squaws in our village. The text was reduced because he was speaking to himself. Whoa, what?! Where in the hell do you get that?! I- just- how do you even jump to that anyway? Honestly, by the Great Spirits, please tell me where you would come to an assumption like that for anyone so early in the day. Esther, this massive leap in logic makes you suspicious to me. I literally cannot imagine what would make you suspect that at this point. No, seriously, can- can you help me out with this? It's only seven hours into the day and we have approximately no evidence. Where do you draw that conclusion from what the mayor said? I- just- how? And why isn't anyone buying my furs?
-
If Sheridan were scum, why would she claim so boldly and so early in the day? The legends of my people tell that the best scum like to hide in the middle of the pack, being neither so loud as to draw attention, nor so quiet as to attract suspicion. I do not think the scum would want one of their own to put herself front and center on Day One, when we could so easily put her claim to the test by lynching her. The scum would be one down before the game had truly begun, and that is just not skookum. My ancestors told tales of a warrior known as Scumba, which in our language means Carrot-Who-Dives. Scumba was known for being a bold and forthright participant in the ancient Mah-fee-ah rituals, and I believe Sheridan is channeling the spirit of this fierce fighter. Such a claim as hers is certainly consistent with how my people have known Scumba to act. There is always a small chance that this is a FWIFOM (Fire Water In Front of Me), but for now I choose to believe Sheridan's claim. As a show of good faith, Sheridan, I offer you and your whole family a 20% discount on all my furs.* *For the next ten minutes.

Silver City Mafia - Confirmation and Discussion

First the white man takes our land, now he expects us to clean up his messes. Well, maybe I can make some sales while I'm here... You, Miss Tennant! I have a feeling you would look especially lovely in a brand-new mink coat, don't you agree? -

Silver City Mafia - Registration
Capt. Redblade replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
1. Isla Paradisa, Gotham, Yakuza, Ragnarok, EB Mafia I and II, The Pearl, Harriet Slutter. 2. I'm on summer break, so I've plenty of time. 3. I quite enjoyed being the Watcher in Ragnarok Now, but I think a killing role like vig or SK would also be fun. -

Nice review, and I now have some new additions to my vocabulary! I only ordered this set a couple minutes ago but I now eagerly await its arrival.

See, that was exactly my question. And not being able to come up with a suitable answer myself was why I thought there must have been a janitor when in fact there wasn't. I think the main problem was that there were too many ifs in this scenario to make it plausibly useful. Add in the fact that the action was one-shot, so if I got it wrong the first time I wouldn't get another chance. I wasn't privy to the 10 000 conditions this role had, so if I had wasted it early on and then something like what you described happened, I wouldn't have been able to catch it. Having the coroner in there definitely caused more confusion than it was meant to alleviate.
