It seems I was far from the only one whom Laurence contacted before his death. What gets me is the fact that he gave me no explanation for why he found those people suspicious. At least in Paris' case we can refer to the day thread, but I can't think of any instance where he called out either Carlisa or Abraham. It's most likely that Laurence was metagamed, but I think we should keep an open mind and consider the possibility that one of his suspects might be scum. For my money, I'd nominate Paris Shawty, as she was the only one that Laurence really called out yesterday. Perhaps she worried that such a powerful player might be able to get too close to the truth if left unchecked?

Collectible Minifigures Mafia - Day One
Capt. Redblade replied to TrumpetKing's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
See the part in bold text. That is what pinged me about it. Perhaps you should have read that a bit more carefully during your analysis, eh? We need a lynch today, and it looks like Brittney's number is up. As Danyelle said, Brittney's behaviour today does not jibe with her usual behaviour, and I think the drunk defence is a pretty poor excuse for what has generally been a pretty flaily first day. Brittney's vote for Carlisa held no water and was called out as more than a bit OMFGUS. What's worse is she didn't even have the decency to stubbornly stick by it as an out-of-depth townie might do. Her early posts were totally lacking in substance, and I fancy I have known Brittney well enough in other lives to know that's unlike her. Vote: Brittney Alfredo (Piratedave84) -
Collectible Minifigures Mafia - Day One
Capt. Redblade replied to TrumpetKing's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
So who's starting to ping today? First we have Brittney. Lovely, fluffy Brittney, who has said so much while still saying so little. Actually, no, that's not totally accurate. She still hasn't said all that much. She does seem to be flailing a bit early, with her admission that she votes at random on Day One and her vote for Ms. Masinelli which was based on some faulty logic. (And when you take that away it looks more than a bit OMFGUS-y.) Melanie's suggestion that we not lynch for the first few days has struck me as rather scummy, but to her credit she has not abandoned the idea as a scummo would. Instead, she has stood by her objectively lousy suggestion, which Mr(s). Shawty notes is not something a scum would do, when they could just as easily drop the idea like a hot potato. It's quite possible Melanie is a misguided townie. Finally, I would like to draw our attention to a statement made by Janice Capulet: It rubbed me the wrong way at the time (along with a couple other people after I pointed it out) and I would like to make sure we haven't swept it completely under the rug, as I do think it's worth addressing. To that effect, I say again what I say after she first made the above statement. At this point, I'm torn between Brittney and Janice, myself. -
Collectible Minifigures Mafia - Day One
Capt. Redblade replied to TrumpetKing's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Suggesting a no-lynch on Day One is bad enough. Suggesting we don't lynch for several days is worse. As I explained, not lynching on the first day means we don't have anything to analyze on the second day. Not lynching on the second means we don't have anything to analyze on the third. Not lynching on the third... do you see where I'm going with this? Plus, this is all assuming we have NA results on Day Five or whenever you want us to start lynching. I read a story recently (there was a very handsome Native fellow in it) about a city in the Old West where the scum managed to kill off the vigilante and investigator within the first couple of days and the remaining PRs didn't get themselves organized. If we leave everything to the PRs, we have to be sure they can find each other, we have to be sure they can find scum, and we have to be sure the scum won't find them. This is an objectively terrible idea. Jumping to someone's defence on the first day is odd, but I don't know if it's enough to justify a vote. I remember another story about a bunch of hot, sweaty, manly Vikings with rippling biceps and... where was I going with this? Anyway, these Vikings lynched a guy on the first day because he defended someone for having a British accent, and they both turned out to be innocent. Thanks for adding that, Brittney, even though it was essentially a regurgitation of what everyone else has already said. Like the laughably transparent drag queen said, this is really not adding anything, but rather attempting to appear to add something. If you don't have anything to say, then don't say anything, but don't try tricking us into thinking you have something to say. Better to be suspicious for being quiet than for being fluffy. -
Collectible Minifigures Mafia - Day One
Capt. Redblade replied to TrumpetKing's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I suppose this was inevitable. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone suggest a no-lynch on the first day. As others have said, it's pointless and it gives us nothing to go on for Day Two. I should have put this in my last post, but one of the reasons why first day analysis - while retaining the potential to send an innocent townie to their doom - is so crucial is because it gives us something to go on in future days. Voting patterns have the potential to speak louder than anything, and we can't analyse voting patterns if we don't vote or don't discuss votes. I'm glad we got it out of the way, but let's not have any more talk of a non-lynch. -
Collectible Minifigures Mafia - Day One
Capt. Redblade replied to TrumpetKing's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
So, are you saying we should not analyze? The thing about Day One is there's usually some room for error, so it's not a national tragedy if we lynch a fluff-poster. If people can't find something to contribute to the game, then we have to wonder if they're trying to hide or if they simply can't be arsed to do anything. I don't agree with your assessment that "most townie will be 'scum-telling'". Certainly a few might be acting cagey and refusing to stick their necks out too far, but I think you'll find that the vast majority of townies will want to do their part to help the town and make it clear that they're helping the town. That usually does take the form of close analysis. It sounds to me like you're giving people a free pass to act scummy and suspicious, simply because it's Day One. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a dance number to rehearse. *Attempts to tap dance. Trips on shoelace and faceplants hard* -

Seeing more pictures now, I actually have to say I really like this set, and that feeling increases each time I look at it. The Batman and Riddler redesigns are very neat. Batman looks very old school while Riddler's new outfit looks almost like a racing jumpsuit, which is appropriate since he's in a dragster. The printed-on scarf is a nice touch. I like the gold crowbar representing his cane and of course there's the green hat, finally! Of course, we can't forget Flash, who is a very nice fig in his own right. I'm disappointed that he doesn't have a neutral face, but with the mask on it looks like a good "in motion" face, and of course Flash is in motion 90% of the time, so it doesn't matter. I'm not too torn up about the lack of boots and - much like with Supes or Bats - I actually think it better suits the minifig aesthetic. The vehicles are pretty nice as well. The wider Batmobile is a nice breakaway from the conventional Batmobiles of '06 and '12. It does look more like something you'd see in a Batman cartoon or a Silver Age comic, but I get the feeling that the whole DC line to this point has been a bit Silver Age-y, so I think it actually fits in better than the 2012 Batmobile. (Actually, speaking of Silver Age and Batmobiles, can we have a 1966 Batmobile, TLG? ) Riddler's dragster, again, looks like something out of a cartoon, but it has a nice design and the bags of money are a good touch. It's just the right amount of wacky to fit in with this more campy DC line. My only problem is that the dragster doesn't appear to have any steering. That aside, I'm looking forward to this one!

Collectible Minifigures Mafia: Sign-Ups
Capt. Redblade replied to TrumpetKing's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
1. I'd have to say either the S4 Hazmat Guy or the S5 Lumberjack. He's so delightfully Canadian! 2. For the most part, yes. 3. Yes. 4. Isla Paradisa, Gotham, Yakuza, Ragnarok, EB I & II, The Pearl, Harriet Slutter, Silver City. 5. Well, Silver City twisted and turned like a... twisty turny thing, and look how that turned out. A little simplicity might be nice. -

Review Review: 21103 Back To The Future Time Machine

You had me at 88 miles per hour. I've loved BTTF since I was a kid and I just know my inner child would never forgive me if I passed this up. $45 CAN seems quite reasonable for such an iconic license.- 207 replies

Capt. Redblade replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Thanks for the feedback, Tammo! You're absolutely right about me needing to take more chances in my conversions. In fact I said the same thing myself after I read the conclusion: I find it amusing that I was one of the only ones who didn't come under suspicion. That wasn't something I tried to do, that was just my normal play style, quiet and nonchalant. I think this game was a learning experience. I hadn't had experience with such a potentially powerful role before and I certainly wasn't used to being in charge of other players. I wasn't totally sure how to play it, so I played it safe. A little too safe, it seems. Next time I draw Mason, I'll be sure to review this game and some of the choices I made here, and then do the opposite! For some time I was actually convinced Peanuts was scum, and I was pushing for a conversion on him just so we could out him. Now I wish I'd been more tenacious about that because it might have worked to our advantage. I had a hunch that either CMP or Kadabra were scum, but I never said anything because I didn't think it was solid enough. All you future masons out there, don't do what I did! -

The Incomparable Carletta Angelina Contessa Louisa Francesca Banana Fanna Bo Besca the Third (look it up ) was easily the most amusing character in this game. If we had to lose, I'm glad we lost to her. Also, did you steal my third-person shtick from Ragnarok Now? -

Capt. Redblade replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Damn! Well played, you scum! It was great fun, Tammo, and I quite enjoyed the LDD storytelling. I think where we masons dropped the ball was our failure to recruit any major PRs. Scubacarrot was recruited because we (we started with me and LegoDad) knew the Miller/Scapegoat claim was most likely true. Fhomess seemed to be very pro-town, which ultimately paid off. Unfortunately we could only recruit on even-numbered nights so we were never able to build up a solid block. Shame, because if we'd had more numbers, we might have been more proactive in our tactics. That said, it was great fun playing and the scum deserved this one! -

Silver City Mafia: Day 4 - Dances With Wolves
Capt. Redblade replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I've been looking at some of the previous day threads, and I'm actually starting to think Boris is scummier than Michael. Looking at the voting patterns, Michael has been a little all over the place, but Boris has stayed more or less in the middle of the pack, which the old legends say is where scum like to hide. Looking back at some of Boris' behaviour, there are some very odd moments here and there which come off as very bad medicine. Early in Day One, Boris seemed willing to accept Sheridan's Scapegoat/Miller claim... for about five minutes before he flipped and started pushing the idea of Sheridan's claim being a scum tactic. (The thread is locked, so this is the best I can do for quotes.) On Day Two, we had the rather bizarre metagamey vote for Esther and his rather shaky attempts to defend it. We were all there for that so I don't know that it bears repeating, but suffice to say that came off as rather scummy. Now, Day Three is where it starts to get interesting. Why would he say that? This game... of life that we are playing living is all about voicing suspicions and talking things over. So why would you encourage her to keep them private? Boris was quick to vote for Jessica after Kane brought up that she had flown under the radar and was being fluffy, but backed off almost as quickly when Jessica called Boris out for the exact same behaviour for which he was calling her out in the first place. At the end of the day, Boris voted for Beatrice, with this less-than-stellar explanation. It is for this suspicious behaviour and his rather fluffy play style that I will Vote: Boris Wheeler (TheBoyWonder). -
Silver City Mafia: Day 4 - Dances With Wolves
Capt. Redblade replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Well, hello to you too, Michael. Would you care to answer my suspicions or are you just going to brush them off? The second one I guess. You can vote for me if you want to, but that wouldn´t help town any! it is Clay, he just bugs me out and it isn´t his comments against me it is something else in his behaviour, I can´t just put my finger on it what it is. Have to study is comments Oh it was her results, Okay (not ok-ey) Reread his comments, where is this again? Don´t find it Okay (not ok-ey) found it, we have to go from here Ah, so it's not just me you're giving the brush-off to, eh? Tristan echoed my point about you not having a single original thought, and when you could address those concerns, you instead choose to OMFGUS me. We can't believe you're town on your word alone. You have to show effort. I may not always be around, but you know what? At least I'm forming my own opinions. Nobody put it into my head that you were suspicious; I came to the conclusion all by myself. This is something you have repeatedly failed to do. Your contributions to this point have been frequently lacklustre, devoid of original thought, and more often than not, lazy. Both you and Boris have been frequently fluff-posting and flying under the radar. Between you, I'm not sure who's scummier at this point.
