  1. We got nowhere fast yesterday, so maybe we should start talking suspects sooner. I'll start. I'd like to hear more from Byron tonight. His vote for Penelope was very flaky, saying some of her statements were odd and offering no examples. When Terrence asked him about this, he just repeated himself and said Penelope was odd. No evidence, no examples, and not much of a reason to support his claim.
  2. Quite honestly, even a policy lynch gives us more to go on than a no-lynch, so yeah. Lesser of two evils and all dat. A scum lynch would have been the best case scenario, but dat obviously didn't happen. If I had to make the choice, a lynch is better than no lynch, whether it be policy or not. Let's hope the PRs are havin' better luck.
  3. I don't believe I ever said I was in favour of a policy lynch. I agree it's a negative outcome, but my belief is that it can have some use in subsequent days re: voting patterns and analysis. I was arguing against people who said no good would come of it whatsoever. Some good can indeed come of it for reasons I've argued and repeated extensively. It would benefit us more to lynch based on scummy behaviour, I ain't arguin' with dat, but if it happens, it happens, and we can still loin from it. It's a bleak outcome, but not as bleak as people make it. Got dat, everyone? I ain't in favour of the policy lynch, but it has the potential to present valuable information to us in subsequent days.

  5. It's rare that a policy lynch goes that smoothly. Usually there are a few outliers who will have: a) voted for Byron or Cat specifically because they voted for Henry b) voted for Henry in order to conform to the bandwagon and appear townie c) voted for someone else entirely in order to be able to say, "I didn't vote for him! Look how town I am!" on Day Two d) didn't vote for Henry because they don't believe in policy lynches When this happens, we can look at the voting patterns and people's reactions just as easily as we could if we lynched our "best bet". Even in the case that a policy lynch is unanimous, it is still possible to glean information from the voting order and the timing of people's votes. Did Player A jump on the bandwagon so early because he wanted to appear town? Did Player B wait until the last moment because he's sheepish town, or did he not want to seem too eager? Maybe I read too much into your first post. Sorry if I did. But the fact is you still seem to be applying a double standard to vote analysis, saying one scenario can give us useful info but the other can't, even when that is demonstrably false, and I don't like that one bit..
  6. If you was paying attention, you would know I already explained (in the very post you quoted) what there is to be loined from a policy lynch. We can dissect and analyze how people behave, how they vote, and when they vote. We can see who's bandwagoning, who's flip-flopping, who's not doing anything, who's accusing whom, and who's defending or possibly colluding with whom. Behaviour analysis allows us to separate the scum from the dumb, but we can only analyze behaviour if we talk. Sometimes, as I said, an overeager scum will slip up on Day One and they can then be dealt with on Day Two. The Russkie's right. We're gonna end up lynchin' someone, so why wax philosophic about why and how we do it? In fact, I'm gonna be the big man and get the ball rolling. Vote: Jamie Kennedy (jamesn) Why? Here's why: Jamie's first statement was made in response to Shane's "Whatever can we do?" post. Now, poking at what attracts our attention is pretty general. Lotsa stuff can attract attention on Day One, from speaking too much to not speaking at all. This statement would seem to be in favour of talking things out and seems like a pretty blank cheque for barking up various trees. This wording would almost imply Jamie's in favour of the policy lynch. However, she followed this statement with... This statement contradicts itself and the previous statement in a few ways. Foist of all, it's a violent reaction against policy lynching, which seems to contradict the previous statement. Second, she says we shouldn't or can't examine the voting patterns from a policy lynch, which is BS for reasons I've already outlined. Apparently, the best way to play this thing is to lynch our most likely scum and analyze reactions and voting patterns tomorrow to find out who's on what side. Explain to me, Jamie, why wouldn't be be able to do that for a policy lynch? If we lynch someone for looking scummy, chances are one or two of their teammates will jump on that bandwagon to try and look town. If we policy lynch, scum may similarly bandwagon just to mess with us and get rid of a townie. Seems to me both situations give us clues in the voting patterns, so why can we do one and not the other?
  7. Fair enough. The initial wording made it sound like you were saying we should do nothing. Hit return too early. Sorry. I was going to add that, if the policy lynch has an upside, it's that analyzing the voting patterns therein can be a good jumping-off point on the next day. When a townie is lynched on the first day, it allows town to look for clues in who said what and who accused/defended whom and who jumped on what bandwagon. Occasionally you will find a scum who was too eager to put the screws to a defenceless townie on the first day and thus presents themselves as an easy lynch. Yes, the Day One lynch is more often than not a bit of a gong show, but its worth can be bared out in subsequent days.
  8. We can poke at what attracts our attention. In fact, I am surprised that such an experienced mafioso as you would trot out the Day One "Well shucks, I don't know what to do" line. In fact, I can picture the headline: "Cocaine ABS-addled Dealer Babbles Incoherently" How's that for a news story, Tam? Yo, Jamie's right. First day we always got nothin' to go on, so we talk and we poke around and we see what comes up. You been around the block a few times, you should know that by now. We got way less experienced folks here should be sayin' stuff like that. You should be above that kinda talk.
  9. Damn Ferraris. Have you seen those goombas lately? They can't dress for shite! I say we lynch 'em all just to teach 'em a thing or two about fashion! Who's with me?
  10. Ah, jeez! Ah, crap, I just got this thing cleaned! Yo, DoÄŸukan! You got a dry-cleaning machine in that fancy tailor's kit? Guess I'll have to switch from my gen-u-ine velour to my im-ee-tation velour. Thanks a lot, Adelaide. Crazy broad.
  11. Magic tricks better be all yous is doin'. Ain't nobody in this town turning illusions without Cap'n Rolfe getting a piece of the action, capisce?
  12. Step back, step back, give the Cap'n some space, goils! Cap'n Rolfe is here and Cap'n Rolfe can show yous guys a good time if you ask! The Cap'n knows where the real party's at and he can take you to it for a not unreasonable fee! Ey-oh! Keep those critters away from me! You don't wanna be getting no pet hair on the Cap'n's jacket! This is gen-u-ine velour! It ain't cheap dry-cleaning this stuff, a'ight? Yo, Can-day! How yous doin', goil? You need representin' on the mean streets, you talk to the Cap'n!
  13. I'm eager to redeem myself after the way I arsed up in Silver City. 1. Isla Paradisa, Gotham, Yakuza, Ragnarok, EB I & II, The Pearl, Silver City, Collectible Minifigs. None outside of EB. 2. I've been told I need to take more of a proactive stance when playing town. My greatest strength would probably be keeping a sufficiently low profile and staying alive for extended periods of time. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my performance, insofar as I've managed to not die more often than not. 3. It sounds intriguing. It probably won't affect me too much, as I rarely PM anyway. (Hmm... maybe I should have put that as my answer for "need to improve"...) Bob said not to metagame and then voted for Shadows! He's contradicting himself! He must be scum! Vote: Bob (Contradicting Scum)

  15. I do hope they include an Inanimate Carbon Rod minifigure in the Control Panel set.

  17. Hooray, we won! I mean, I didn't live to see it, but still, woohoo! This was a rather nice cooldown after the insanity of Silver City. Sometimes it's just good to get back to basics. Great story and a very clever twist ending, but I would argue that making the scum all villain-y minifigs was a bit... obvious. I can understand if that was how it had to work story-wise, but you might have considered making the minifigs on the scum side less obviously evil or slipping some "bad" minifigs into the town roster as red herrings. Make the blocker a S1 Caveman or the Godfather a S10 Sad Clown. Make the Doctor a Mr. Good and Evil or something. Mix it up. (I suppose you did make the mafia lord in this one a Painter, but that's an NPC, so it doesn't count.) That's my only complaint. Great job otherwise.
  18. Damnation! I was hoping to survive this time! Thanks for having me!
  19. Monorail, monorail, monorail, monorail... If anything, I'd like to see a Sideshow Bob minifig. But the monorail is a good idea as well. MONORAAAAAAIL! MONORAAAAAIL! MONORAIL!
  20. I think it's actually rather shortsighted to vote for someone based on their CMF. However, to vote for someone based on extensive character analysis that points to middle-of-the-road, noncommittal posting is quite sound. Therefore, based on the analysis offered by Romeo and Tybalt among others, I feel comfortable in voting Abraham. Vote: Abraham Petruzzi (Fred Daniel Yam)
  21. I've not forgotten about Janice, but at the beginning of the day I was looking at what Benvolio said yesterday and it struck me as worth mentioning. However, knowing now that Benvolio was faced with RL problems, I'm less sure of my case. Both are still on my list at this point, but I don't know to what extent.
  22. A-Alicia... I know we fought, but she was still my sister, dammit! At least she won't have died in vain. We know we can trust our investigator now and hopefully we can learn something from the voting patterns on Paris. Okay, that looks like as good a segue as any into what I'm about say: I would like to take a closer look at Benvolio Roni today. Benvolio has been very noncommittal since the beginning and has contributed nothing. *cue analysis of every post. In Benvolio's case, it won't take long* On Day One, Benvolio made an overwhelming two posts and managed to say nothing at all. In his first post, he said: As we see, Benvolio heroically showed up around two-thirds of the way into the day, presumably just to reassure us he was still alive. He offered no analysis of any other players, made a noncommittal and offhanded remark about Melanie's no-lynch idea, then bunked off to who knows where under the pretense of reading things over. Alas, it was all for nought, as when he did return it was not with analysis, but with an OMFGUS vote against Melanie. On Day Two Benvolio once again showed up late, and his first few posts offered a similar level of insight. He names Paris and Melanie as his two main suspects, but covers himself by elaborating that he's not that suspicious of them. This is some irrelevant roleplaying. We've seen this before from a Western ancestor of Benvolio's, so it comes as little surprise. This is the first time Benvolio comes close to saying anything productive, and even then it's essentially a regurgitation of things already said. (I.e. "that was a scum kill" and "let's test Paris") He makes a very noncommittal accusation of Alicia, Paris, and Melanie, and even gives what might be called a reason for voting Paris... and doesn't vote. Again, he offers a quasi-opinion on Paris' behaviour and it sounds like he's inclined to think she's scum, but he still does nothing. Still hesitating to vote for Paris. So you agree we need to test the result on Paris. Good. Are you willing to back that up with a vote? No? Fair enough. With less than 15 hours left in the day, Benvolio finally bites the bullet and votes for Paris. He is the last to do so and he offers little justification beyond we need to test the cop's result. That's all well and good as far as justification goes, but you've already said several times that you agree Paris is for it. You agree we need to test her. So why not vote then? Why did you wait so long? And even after he votes for Paris, it seems like he spends the last few hours trying to cast doubt on the Paris lynch. TL;DR: Benvolio has contributed nothing, has committed to nothing, practically had to be dragged kicking and screaming onto the Paris bandwagon, and I therefore submit that he is scummy.
  23. Good to see you taking it like a man... woman... thing... I shall write an elegy in your honour. "Goodbye, Paris It sucks that we have to lynch you Sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks Man, it really sucks."
  24. Paris, you can bitch and complain all you want, but a result is a result. Whether or not it's a correct result remains to be seen, but we have to test it. This lynch could influence who we end up trusting in future days and it could alter the outcome of the game. You may not like it, but it's what we have to do. Vote: Paris Shawty (Tamamono)
  25. I got my message at 11:37 pm, so yeah, about eleven hours beforehand.
