  1. So, wait a minute. Is Squidman running an intergalactic chop shop now? SWEET!
  2. When you say the thread's open to everybody, do you mean EVERYBODY. 'Cause I'm only a lowly Vassal with a camera kickin' around somewhere.
  3. Ah. My first set that included Imperials. (When I say "Imperials", I don't speak of any specific faction, that's just my all-purpose term for all of the non- Islander enemies. Just saying this because I use that term a lot and I don't want anyone to get confused.) I love this little son of a gun.
  4. The Spaniards were traditionally traders and merchants more than anything else, and I DESPERATELY need some merchants to blow outta the water!
  5. I KNEW they were French! That fleur de lis on the flag that came with my Broadside's Brig is a dead giveaway. (Plus I did always notice a distinct smell of wine and old cheese whenever one walked into the room. )
  6. Let's see... 1 brown. 3 blue. 1 red. (Technically it's a pirate sailboat, but, like all sailboats, the mast is removable.) That comes to... about... oh... five. Not a lot , but I'll try to acquire more.
  7. In my pirate world, the pirates themselves are the good guys ( after all, the theme is named after THEM), the red coats are the (British) bad guys, and the blue coats are the reds' (French, and drastically understaffed) rivals. The two latter groups fight to bring in Brickbeard and Ironhook ( I never got a single Redbeard), the two most feared pirates in Lego-Pirate-World. Since I only have one blue coat set (that's why they're so understaffed), I REALLY hope they come back.
  8. Forgive my ignorance , but what was the source of inspiration for this? I mean, other than the pic at the top.
  9. I actually only have one set with official Lego rigging, so, in a bind, I just use white string. Given the scale, from the minifigs' POV, it's probably the same thickness as real rope, and it utilises the braided technique commonly used for almost all rope back then.
  10. I don't think this is a matter of which company copied which company, I think it's a matter of who copied Norse mythology first. As we see in Pirates of the Caribbean, the Kraken preexisted Lego and Playmobil. It's an INCREDIBLY common theme in Scandinavian folk tales for unfortunate seamen to have chance encounters with giant squid, AKA Krakens. Tales of these beasts go back past the 12th century, I think. In my opinion, no-one ripped off anyone else.
  11. Arrrr. TWO navies? How's a pirate to cope?
  12. I absolutely adore this game, and it's nice to see someone do it justice.
  13. Lego HAS stopped the Bat-license.
  14. Not bad at all, Penguin! I especially like the cell block. I detect overtones of "Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On Serious Earth".Is that at all possible, perchance?
  15. Sweet. I am definitely going to watch for this one in 2010.
  16. Quite frankly, I don't think the size matters THAT much. I use my Imperials as the inept bad guys. The pirates are the good guys/anti-heroes in my book. Also, what we need to do, is get everyone here to email them, show 'em that we know what we want and that they should listen.
  17. You know what I'd like to see? Lego Chronicles of Narnia and Pirates of the Caribbean.
  18. Ah. My first Pirates set. I give it a 4/5 due to the included treasure. The minifigs are also pretty neat, but I never liked the old-style sharks. They were too small.
  19. Ah. It was bound to happen. At my local mall a couple months ago I saw some Megabloks (read with disgust) on friggin' CLEARANCE! (read with overwhelming joy) Lego rules, Mega sucks.
