  1. Wow. I really like this castle design. You've also included a lot of neat details. I might have to try to make a well with your design sometime.
  2. I apparently received mine sometime last week. Read on here that they were arriving all over the world, so I figured I must have received them by now. After a quick search I found where my wife put them--and forgot about them. Thank you so much CopMike. I can't imagine the headache doing this every year must bring. I think it's safe to say we all appreciate it, and hope you continue to do it!
  3. I think this is my new favorite from you. Amazing representations of his designs. Although we miss you in Avalonia lately seeing you build such different things is amazing.
  4. Thanks guys, I appreciate it! I hadnt really thought of that! Leki is actually another member's sigfig, as is Cassius--both used with permission of course.
  5. Thanks guys. Im glad so many liked the tree, despite it being relatively simple.
  6. I really love that roof design, though it does seem a little out of place at a kennel.
  7. Very nice details all around. I too am excited to see what's happening in Mitgardia.
  8. Osric's Tale Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 The tracks lead north through the forest. They seemed to be close to the Mitgardian border when their horses became frenzied. They seemed to sense something their riders could not. They were tied to the limb from a fallen oak tree, and the men continued on foot. They soon came to a smaller clearing where they saw without a doubt, a forest giant. The creature wielded a broken axle and wheel from one of the wagons as a club. It also wore a chain across its chest, which seemed even more out of place. “It looks as though it’s been held captive,” whispered Cassius. “If he was taken captive, he might become more defensive, or even aggressive in nature.” “True,” agreed Leki, “and the dwarves wouldn’t think twice about capturing such a creature and using it if they thought it would bring a profit.” “Maybe, “Osric thought out loud, “but that chain doesn’t look to be made by dwarves.” At that time the giant caught the scent from the men on the wind, and was aware of their presence. He raised his makeshift club and snarled a challenge at them. Before any of the men had a chance to say another word, the giant was upon them, slamming the wagon wheel down in an onslaught of blows. “Spread out!” Osric called out. “Attack him from his flanks!” Cassius and Leki both did so and they each began to deliver numerous slashes upon the giant’s body. “The steel won’t pierce his skin!” cried Cassius. “He must have some sort of magical protection!” Osric replied. “The chain!” Leki yelled back. “It has some sort of magical rune attached!” Seeing it, Cassius ran closer, and threw a murderous slash at the rune on the chain. The chain burst at the point of the rune and fell from the giant. In an instant the giant had turned and grabbed Cassius by the leg with his open hand. Before he had time to finish a thought, Osric ran and leapt at the creature, hoping it would now be vulnerable once more. Osric thrust his sword into the base of the creature’s neck, which let out a deafening roar while falling to the ground, sending Cassius rolling. The three shortly recovered and stood beside the motionless creature. For several seconds they remained quiet, apart from heavy breathing from the fight. “The road should be safe for travel once more,” Leki finally said. “For now,” Osric answered. “Although without knowing who bewitched the creature with this chain, it’s difficult to say for how long the road will be safe.” “We will need to send another consignment of goods right away,” Leki continued. “With all the trouble they’re currently having in Kaliphlin, it’s greatly needed.” “You’re more than welcome to arrange another trade deal with Kaliphlin, but Oros will replace this shipment from our own crops,” Osric answered. “This happened in Oros, which makes us responsible.” “Oros is certainly not responsible for such an even taking place,” Leki returned. “Let Meldrim at least supply half of the replacement crops.” “Very well,” Oros answered. “It is enough to know our neighborly relations remain on good terms. As for you, Duke Cassius, we cannot thank you enough for your assistance here. The black mare you’ve taken such a liking to is yours to keep, as is Oros’ everlasting hospitality.” “Thank you, Sir Osric,” Cassius said with a bow. “I gladly accept your gift. Though now I must continue to Mitgardia, perhaps I will stay longer on my return home.” The three then returned to their horses and with sincere farewells, they left eachother in separate directions—Osric to the West, Leki to the East, and Cassius to the North. This will be the last chapter for a little while. However, I do plan to pick it up again when I can. I hope you've enjoyed so far!
  9. Osric's Tale Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 Shortly after turning onto the Old Road, they came to a small clearing in the forest where the smashed remains of 5 wagons lay scattered. Four dead horses and five drivers were also scattered among the remains. “This wasn’t done by thieves,” Cassius pointed out. “They left the supplies everywhere. Drow, perhaps?” “The Drow could have done something like this,” Leki answered, “but it doesn’t look like a Drow attack. There are no cuts from Drow weapons on anything, or anyone. Everything’s simply smashed—it almost looks like the result of an avalanche, though an avalanche couldn’t have possibly occurred here.” Osric remained silent, stumped by what could have caused the chaos he looked upon. Cassius and Leki were both right—this was the work of neither thieves nor Drow. But what else within the borders of Oros could have achieved such destruction? While looking at the wreckage of one of the wagons that lay scattered a little farther than the others, Osric noticed a set of enormous footprints. “These look like they were left by a giant,” Osric stated, breaking his silence. “We do get an occasional forest giant through here, but I’ve never heard one to attack a single person, let alone an entire caravan.” “You’re not wrong,” Leki answered. “These certainly look like they were left by a forest giant, but as you said, the forest giants are simple and peaceful creatures. They would never make such an attack.” “Regardless of what left these tracks, I think it’s safe to say that whoever or whatever left them is responsible for the destruction here,” Cassius concluded. “Agreed,” Osric answered. “Tracks this large are not difficult to follow, and they seem to be the only clue as to what happened here." As a quick note, I almost didn't include this build in the story, as it's quite small. However, when looking at this part of the story as well as the next, it seemed pretty long and thought it might better to incude it after all.
  10. OK, good to know. I was hoping this was the case.
  11. I really like this build. Relatively simple, but I think you made the atmosphere very clear.
  12. This is all very complicated--I'm glad I'm not running it! Though my participation will likely be limited, I am quite excited for this. One question I have though--and it may have already been covered--but it seems to me like the Council faction wishes to be neutral. Why then would they be fighting in battles against the other two factions? Why would they be doing guerilla attacks?
  13. Very nice work. He looks quite posable. I would be interested on seeing other poses he can do.
  14. Thanks for the comments guys. I wasn't a big fan of how low the arch looked myself, but thought it would pass as a deterrent to keep people from moving through too quickly. The story explains that the figure in back dismounted to walk under the gate, before remounting and following the others who simply turned around, never going through the gate. It might now have been written very clearly though I suppose. I did think of putting mixing in some plain bricks as well, but too late. Not wanting to rebuild I left it.
  15. The next chapter for my sigfig: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=106201
  16. Osric's Tale Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 They left at dawn as planned, and despite a relatively heavy fog for the first few miles of their journey they were making relatively good time. They rode for Moraelin pass, where a stout gatehouse stands, marking the border between Oros and Meldrim. The raven that Osric had sent to Meldrim explained their plan to start searching for the lost caravan of goods there, and for Count Leki to meet them there, should he be able to. The guards at the gatehouse would know if the caravan passed through unmolested. Osric suspected it had, for if the horse with the broken cart that had arrived in Osgard yesterday had come through the pass, surely he would have heard of it earlier. “She really is a fine horse.” Cassius said once again. Osric insisted that Cassius allow his own horse to rest after travelling so far to Oros. He was allowed to use a black mare named Dancer from the stables at Osgard, who was the personal favorite of the stable master. “She is indeed.” Osric answered. “The horses we breed here may not be quite as swift on open ground as other horses, but they can keep a very steady pace, and are second to none on the uneven terrain here at the feet of the mountains.” They arrived at the gatehouse mid-afternoon. Osric didn’t recognize the watchman that greeted them from one of the towers, but he had apparently recognized Osric. “Greetings Lord Osric, we’ve been expecting you. Count Leki sent us a raven saying that he was riding to meet you here.” “I’m no Lord,” Osric answered. “Not while my father still lives.” May he live forever, he thought to himself. Osric didn’t like to be reminded that he would one day lead Oros. That was supposed to be for his brother, who had died while Osric was still young. Osric found himself thinking of his brother more and more lately. “Of course…Sir Osric,” the guardsman had interrupted his thoughts. Count Leki should arrive soon.” “Very well,” Osric said. “We asked to meet Count Leki here because the last caravan of goods out of Meldrim has gone missing. Did it come through here on schedule?” “I know nothing of its planned schedule, but it did come through, 4 days past I believe.” “How can that be?” asked Cassius. “Would they not have stayed on the main road to Osgard? We found no sign of them on the way here.” “True,” Osric answered, “but this early spring caused some minor flooding through some of the lower areas here. It wasn’t enough to stop us from riding through, but a caravan of several wagons would have likely taken—“ “The Old Road,” finished Count Leki as he arrived, swinging down from his horse to walk under the low gate. “I received word that there had been some flooding, so the caravan was instructed to travel the old road through the forest to avoid it. It seems that was a mistake.” “A mistake you could not have helped,” Osric said. “Count Leki, with me is Duke Cassius of Burnby. He was visiting us in Oros when one horse pulling a broken wagon arrived, and wanted to help us investigate.” “Then Meldrim and I are in your debt, Duke Cassius,” Leki said with a bow before returning to the back of his horse. “However, the sooner we leave, the sooner we figure out what happened here.” “Agreed,” Osric said, as he turned his horse around and set a good pace back down toward the Old Road. Whatever happened to the caravan, they should be able to find a sign of it easy enough. Dealing with whatever caused its disappearance however, might not be. I was quite pleased with the overall look of this build, although I think the scale is off. I wanted to build the towers a little taller so the gate was larger, but used up all the masonry bricks I currently own. Either way, I hoped you enjoyed the build and story. More to come!
  17. That's awesome. I really love the mine cart tracks. That hidden door is also a great feature!
  18. There's a decal wish list thread already available here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12403 I would suggest spell checking before posting, so people know exactly what you're asking for. :)
  19. Thank you! Thanks. The door does not open. The inn is actually only two walls, so I didn't go for full function on this one. Thank you! Thanks! Thank you. I was pleased with how they turned out as well. Thanks. I agree about the path. I've run into this problem in past builds as well--I just done have enough pieces to make it look right. That's probably the next thing I'll have to order. The tree actually looked better at different angles, but it does look a little skimpy in the pictures. Thanks guys. I really wanted to focus on story writing for a while, which is why I wanted to do an on-going story. I've got quite a few planned, I just hope it stays interesting throughout. Thanks. I originally wanted to add more details, which was why I made the base so big. When I couldn't get them to look right I just went with this. Probably should have removed the extra border part--not sure why I didn't think of that!
  20. :) now the fourth and fifth pic are the same, and the original fourth is gone.
  21. There's a line at about the top quarter of the picture, where the image is separated slightly.

  24. Osric's Tale Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 “I apologize for not having a room for you within our keep, but it is quite small, and what little room it has is currently taken. I can assure you, however, that you will receive our best accommodations here at the inn,” Osric explained. “You have nothing to apologize for,” returned Duke Cassius. “And I can assure you, this is certainly not the first inn I’ve stayed at—I’m sure it will more than suffice. If I may ask, what is the inn called? I see no sign on it.” “There is no sign as it has no name. The owner is a strange man, and has always refused to name it. Most folks around here simply call it, ‘The Inn,’ or sometimes ‘Codger’s Inn.’” “Very well. I thank you again for your hospitality. As I said earlier, I’ll only be here for the night. I may return this way, but I can’t be certain.” Cassius was on his way into Mitgardia. It was not Osric’s place to ask his business. All he knew was Cassius had sent his advisor Father Brunwald ahead of him, and planned to rejoin him in Valholl. “You’re more than welcome to do so. In these troubling times, we Avalonians must stick together.” It was hard for Osric to recall when times weren’t troubling, though he could still remember them well. While he was thinking of them, Osric and Cassius heard muttering coming from standers-by as well as the sound of a horse approaching. They turned and saw a young gelding pulling the smashed remains of a cart around the corner. “That must be the trade shipment out of Meldrim that was supposed to leave port days ago,” Osric thought out loud. “I’ll have to investigate this at once.” Osric would normally take Cain and Jace on such a search, but they were both currently patrolling the Northern border for Dwarven invaders. Osric smiled to himself at the irony. “Then I’ll be coming with,” replied Cassius. “You said yourself, ‘we Avalonans must stick together.”’ “And what of your plans?” wondered Osric. “We do not know how long this might take, or when you would be able to continue on your way.” “My business is not urgent, and Father Brunwald enjoys his time in the other guilds—he will not mind waiting longer.” “Very well,” accepted Osric. “We shall leave at dawn. I’ll get a raven sent out to Meldrim so that Count Leki is informed as well. If I know him half as well as I think I do, he’ll want to join us.” With that Osric left Cassius at the inn to prepare everything for the morning. A quick note: Most of you will probably recognize the building style from Derfel Cadarn's Medieval Village Guide. I recently took the time to really take time and fully read the guide. As a result, I decided I really wanted to try to build this style of a house. This was my first attempt, and I stayed pretty close to his example. In future builds, I'd like to stay true to the style, but try some different things to make it a little more unique. One step at a time! For anyone who has not read the guide, you really need to take the time to read it. It is amazing. DC is like the Bob Ross of Lego with that thing!
  25. Hello Stefan, I wanted to send you a PM but can't do so until you have at least ten posts, so thought it was worth a shot bumping this and hoping you see it. I am starting a new job in the Augsburg area and will be moving there very soon. I was wondering if you knew some good places to buy Lego in the area. I've already found Spiel und Freizeit, which seems to have a very large selection, but thought I would ask and see if you had other suggestions. When you get a couple more posts, send me a PM. Thanks!
