Definitely a unique idea for the challenge. The half eaten dragon looks fantastic!

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Thanks for the advice everyone, I will give your suggestions a try. Hopefully I can get something figured out that works! And greetings, Mr. Greeble! It's always good to see new faces here. -
Husbandry: Deer Hunting in Mitgardia
MiloNelsiano replied to Slegengr's topic in Guilds of Historica
I was just thinking the other day, where did Slegengr go? Nice to see you back, and with a great build! I really like the unique fauna you've used here, but I love those deer designs. It looks like I will be brick linking some tan droids in the near future. Great work! -
Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MiloNelsiano replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
I'm looking for some photography advice from one of you experts here. I just finished a build of a cave, and I'd really like to take a picture of it with the top on, and be able to see the inside without having light glare off everything else. I haven't tried anything yet, and I've been really hoping my usual method of taking pictures on a cloudy day will work, but I'm having doubts that it will work for me. Anyone's advice would be greatly appreciated! -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion
MiloNelsiano replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I found some today that were hiding on a Simpsons S2 rack. First time I've ever (had the patience to have) found them all in one setting! While I definitely like them more than I thought I would have, I probably could have still lived without some of them. -
I live in Augsburg, so Munich is actually very close for me. Antwerp is over 7 hours away, which is closer than I had expected, but with a two year old, it's not that realistic. @Rolli, I hope to see you there!

Have fun there guys! I'd like to be able to make it to one of these sometime, especially one with a GoH display, but I still can't convince my wife to drive that far for a Lego show. I'm hoping to make it to Bricking Bavaria in Munich this year (it would be the first lego show I've even visited). Does anyone from here make it down to that show, to display or visit? I'm guessing not since it's in November but thought it would be worth asking.

Husbandry challenge -The Scaly Scavengers
MiloNelsiano replied to Dubbadgrim's topic in Guilds of Historica
While the wall texturing looks great and works very well, I especially like the architecture and landscaping you've done here. It looks excellent together, and looks overall very pleasing. Great work! -
Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback, and I'm glad you liked it. It all came together very nicely for me. And about the sand green masonry bricks, they have them at LegoLand Germany where you buy them by weight, so that's how I got so many!

Kyrrath Old Mill (Husbandry-minichallenge)
MiloNelsiano replied to jaapxaap's topic in Guilds of Historica
Good to see another mill! Very nice design on this one. I especially love the design of the roof. Although I'm not sure I would use purple, I really like how all the builds in your civilization have the same basic aesthetic. It definitely helps to tie it all together and seem like one place. -
Wow, great looking dragon. I tried to make a skeletal dragon a couple months ago but couldn't get it to look right at all. This one is awesome. Great to see you back here! Hopefully you keep coming back once in a while!

Disclaimer: The following scene is very depraved. Please do not look if you are faint of heart, or get sick very easily, and especially don't show this scene to your mother. You have been warned. Tales of the famous pirate crews had always been the biggest topic of discussion, especially the notorious Captain Quick. If the tales were to be believed, Captain Quick only accepted the evilest, most bloodthirsty men he could find. At five years old, Bartholemew Robbins knew all the tales, and thought only of becoming a member of Captain Quick's crew. When Bartholemew's mother told him that he would be starting school soon, he knew he had to prove how evil he was so he could join Captain Quick's crew before he was stuck in school. Pirates didn't need school! He spent a long time pondering things that he could do to prove his worth, but none of them seemed evil enough to live up to Quick's expectations. Eventually he came up with an idea, but it seemed too extreme, and didn't think he could stomach such a thing. That's when he realized that was exactly what he needed to do. Such a depraved act was exactly what he would have to commit in order to become a pirate. He left the house with his trusty friend Jack and his weapon of choice. He knew the path the patrol usually took, and was able to find them right away. He was in luck, as Admiral Corrington was leading the patrol today. As the Admiral approached, Bartholemew readied his weapon. At the last second he let loose. As he watched the Admiral fall, he started to feel sick with what he had done. He raised his sword in victory and watched on for a second before grabbing Jack by the hand and running home.

Pillage the Village Contest: Out for Blood Edition
MiloNelsiano replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Pirates
Phred, the contest tags required to enter are too long, and are cut off when used for a tag (at least the small entry one is, though I would imagine the rest are as well). Also, do we need to link the topic to in a post in this thread?- 144 replies

A very nice MOC! While I find the shape of the tower interesting, the stonework pattern falls a little short in my eyes. Too blocky maybe? The rest of the build is fantastic. The path, bridge, rock work, and vegetation all look great (especially the path in my opinion). I look forward to more!

Upon receiving word from Osric that food shortages had stretched all throughout the guilds, Lord Orys Farwind decreed an order to increase food production. As a farmer himself, he placed himself at the head of the effort, and wasted no time in getting the harvest in. Lord Orys is reaping the wheat with a sickle as another worker rakes the wheat into piles before packing it into sacks. The cut wheat is then brought to the mill where the grain is separated and cleaned. It is then ground in the mill into flour. The local baker goes through barrels of flour very quickly. Here he waves to those passing by as he waits for his last batch of the day to finish baking. His daughter sells his baked goods in a stall next to the bakery. The result is always the same; a happy and smiling customer. One of the mill workers is taking a break and enjoying other food produced from Oros' harvest as another farmer brings his harvest to market. This is the first large MOC I've finished that's viewable at 360 degrees, although the two sides are a little lack-luster. A few bonus pictures! Well, I hope someone enjoys this build as I have. It's certainly one of my favorites that I've built. I forgot to take a figless shot, but if I get another chance to take pictures I'll be sure to do so and include it later. Comments and advice are always welcome! Thanks!

Pillage the Village Contest: Out for Blood Edition
MiloNelsiano replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Pirates
Gimp is a free download, and I'm told there are YouTube videos available to learn how to use it. I just played around until I figured out how to do what I needed, and I've never used a photo editing software, so I think it's relatively easy to learn. I also just take pictures with my cellphone (iPhone 4s) and my results are good enough for me. This picture for example probably took about 3 minutes of editing.- 144 replies

GoH Freebuild: Avdar's Office (Remake)
MiloNelsiano replied to halixon's topic in Guilds of Historica
Much better build this time around! This build still wasn't too parts intensive, but you clearly put more thought into it, and it definitely paid off. The first two shots are great. A border would improve the quality of the build as a whole, but wouldn't effect the first two shots at all. A few tiles on the table and the base of the center window would also be welcome, but if I remember right you're working with a low piece count. Do the best you can with the bricks you have (which I think you've done here), then ask yourself, what pieces would improve my builds? Continue doing so to build your collection. You're off to a great start already. -
This sounds like an interesting story. It might fit in the Guilds of Historica. I started with a story i had made up for a civilization, found a spot for it, and worked it in. I would recommend thinking about it at least!

Hi, so las week I made a post and later that same day I saw it wasn't there anymore. Two people replied to it, and it was even quoted by one, so I know it was there at one point. Anyway I didn't think too much of it. Now today I can't find my messaging icon in the corner. When I try to get into a previous conversation it says: You are not allowed to use the private messaging system. What happened? I see Hinkley was on my profile page in that time span. Did I do something wrong? I'm really sorry if I did! Can I message people again? Please help?
