The River Port of the Trifork (HSS Nautical)
MiloNelsiano replied to Bregir's topic in Guilds of Historica
A very nice build all around. I like the little boats you've built, but love the hull under construction. Good stuff! -
Some familiar scenes in this one! I really like this castle style you've done for this modules.

I really like the palisade you built--simple and effective. The story is great as well. I was thinking this as well at first. However, after thinking about it for a while, I would think the logs get some kind of treatment to keep them from being easily being out on fire. Although I'm not real sure how they would actually look, I'm guessing they'd be fairly uniform from point to bottom. A lot of the bark from the middle portions would also have to be remove somewhat, to keep the logs round enough to make a fairly sound fence. Of course this is all speculation, as I've never really seen anything like this. :)

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MiloNelsiano replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks. These are techniques I like to some extent--but I'm not a huge fan of using them too much. I also don't have enough headlight bricks to make that effect. Thanks. You're right i think in terms of castles being built out of rougher looking materials. But since I'm not sure I could get build a true minifig scale castle, I have to scale down, which means this tiny irregularities also get scaled down, possibly to the point of not being seen. I guess I'm still playing with different techniques, seeing which I prefer. I definitely like the look of greebling, but think it gets over used. While most of the medieval age castles look very decrepit today, I'm guessing when they were built they looked much stronger. I've been wondering the myself--it's been pretty quiet lately. I just have one son, who turns into some kind of creature from Nocturnus when he's sick--hard to imagine two at the same time! -
Bobbtom, The point I think you're missing is that supposed bad sales cannot be blamed on your perceived weaknesses of the line. You're saying that they didn't sell well, so it MUST be due to the fact that they had duplicates of named characters, and not enough generic soldiers. And when others say that most people wanted named characters, you're saying that can't be true, or the line would have sold better. The reality is that there is so much more to take into consideration. As others have mentioned, Lego is a toy, designed and marketed for children. That doesn't mean adults won't like it. But it does mean that Lego is not meant to appeal to adults. I would have like more generic soldiers too. I would have liked battle packs. I would have liked less repeated characters after buying different sets. But Lego didn't design the sets for me. They designed them for kids. One other factor that I perceived (meaning I could be wrong, and those that disagree don't need to be insulted) is that LOTR was more popular among people older than the typical age of kids that still play with Lego. Of course, there are younger audiences that watched and loved LOTR and of course there are people that are older than the age Lego is marketed towards that still enjoy Lego, but I think these numbers are probably lower than they are in more successful lines. As I said earlier, I could definitely be wrong. But the biggest point I'm trying to make is that you cannot take the problems you had with the line and blame supposed poor sales numbers on those problems alone. There's a lot of contributing factors. All that said, I will not be replying in this topic again, as I will not get sucked into this discussion/flame war any further. I've made my point. Agree with it or not, there it is.

You never cease to amaze with your mini land scale figs. Perfect representation.

That's quite a story! Gave me a good laugh at least. As for the magazine scans/original, I would be of no use.

Lego probably consumes the most of my free time. But basketball is my favorite hobby. With every other hobby, negative aspects of life distract me, but when I'm playing basketball, there's nothing else in the world. Greatest feeling ever. But besides those, I actually have a pretty extensive coin collection, and I'm starting to play board games, as a way of getting out of video games.

Wow. This is really great--builds and story. The best work I've seen from you by far. Keep it up, please!

He Said to pm him if you didn't post in the entry thread in time. Double check the first post as well to make sure you posted the original post before the deadline was over. Edit: I'm not sure I originally understood your question. The deadline was posted as January 31st. Hopefully that's the answer you were looking for.

Thank you. That chest piece would have been more appropriate, but I don't have it currently. Should be simple enough to get though. I know, it needs a lot more landscaping done, but as I said, I had to disassemble this build as it was to prepare to move. After we move, I'd like to rebuild it with more details, but we'll se if it happens. I agree. I'm always interested when I find a MOC in the "theme".

A cigar box seems like a good environment for them! I'd be interested in hearing descriptions for them. A very classic-looking bunch. I particularly like the guys in the second picture. -
Thank you. I definitely am a purist. I do know about the Brickwarriors antlers, but being a purist, wanted to make my own. Thanks! I also love seeing ASOIAF builds, but I myself struggle to build something that looks fitting. I originally made his wahammer two-handed, but tried to make it look as close to the orinigal image as possible. Thanks!

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MiloNelsiano replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hello all, and welcome new members! I've started a few new WIPs to try a few different techniques. One is a new keep, and I'm looking for a little feedback before I continue. First, I'm hoping to avoid "gray wall syndrome", despite using all bley pieces. I think the texturing breaks it up pretty well, but I'm not entirely sure (ignore the interior for now). Second, I've never down rocks before in such a large quantity. I like the look of them currently, but wouldn't mind a little feedback on them as well. Lastly (for now), I'm trying to figure out the best way to approach the castle. I had oringinally planned for a bridge to extend out over a gap, but lately I'm wondering if it would be better to have the rocks be more of a plateu, and the regular ground be level at their base. If this were the case, I'm not sure how to build a bridge/ramp/whatever else up to the gate. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! -
Hello! I've been wanting to do a Game of Thrones/ASOIAF MOC for quite some time now, and finally got some decent inspiration for a build. Of course, a short time into the build, I get a new job and have to start packing things up to move my family, so the major details of this have not yet been added. I don't want to guess how many times I had to reattatch the antlers on Robert's helmet, but it was by far the most fragile part of a build I've ever done, so I wanted to post pictures of it, as is, before I take it apart, and possibly rebuild once moved. If anyone is curious, the build is based off the cover picture of the table-top RPG for A Song of Ice and Fire, which can be seen here: http://www.greenroni...GRR2707_450.jpg Ours is the Fury! An an overhead shot of the whole build Comments and Criticism appreciated!

Some nice looking figures in here! I agree with Captain Braunsfeld, that some blue/red coats and maybe some civilians as well would look really good with them. I really like the wide variety you've included here. A very nice bunch of figures! -
Some great figs here! My favorite is the mountain man. That cake is perfect, and I am definitely borrowing that lantern design.

Thanks! To be honest, I'm not even sure where some are from, since they've been stored all together in a "heads" box for so long. I could probably look through the sets I own and figure them out quick enough. After doing this and the GoH challenge, I realize how much I enjoy doing figs. I hope more people post some of their own, although I wonder if the title is keeping people from realizing they can post their own here as well. Please do. I look forward to seeing more pirate figs! -

Here's mine! Most are crew members that I had originally done some time ago, with some adjustments made. I then made a few non-crew members while I was in the groove.
