Krustys head works amazingly well here. Everything is simply outstanding as always.

Hi, sorry I this has been covered somewhere else. I have looked but couldn't find an answer. My question is simple: why can you not search for a three letter word? I suppose it makes sense to leave out small common words, but when I'm looking for a particular build and the only detail I can remember is tha it was an inn, I would typically search inn and sift through the builds, but I cannot. This issue has come up a few times for me, though I don't remember the other words I tried searching. Anyway, I thought it would be worth asking about.

Guilds of Historica New Member Guide
MiloNelsiano replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Yeah, I hate to say it because it was so successful, and it produced so many amazing builds, but the Kaliphlin contest seems to have burned a lot of members out. I think that type of challenge was really a brilliant idea, and is worth doing again, but maybe separate of GoH, in more of an annual CCC type setting. Andromeda's Gates also seems to have pulled some members interests at least partially if not fully. I am exciting about Brethren of the Brick Seas (is that what it's called?) but am also worried it will pull more members from here. Time will tell I guess. -
Guilds of Historica New Member Guide

I'm not sure the problem is necessarily with keeping females to stick around, it's getting people in general to stick around. When I look at the older builds from book 1 I see so many people I don't recognize or I've seen maybe post one or two MOCs. Granted I haven't been a part of GoH forever but it's over a year now. So many other members have joined since I have but they don't really seem to post that often, or at all after so long. Several never do anything after introducing their character. I'm not trying to say these numbers are at all reflective of reality, but say 90% of members in general become inactive. If there have only ever been a dozen or so females active, 10% that stay would only give you...well, Kai. There have been lots of great MOCers--male and female--come here but disappear. I'd half guess part of it is because of the lack of "inspiring" castle sets. The Pirates forum seemed to be dead for a long time, besides Captain Braunsfeld, but since the current pirate theme came out, there has been a lot more activity. I'm really not sure the best way to get people to stick around longer, but I have given it some thought, because I reeeally hope there's a book 3 in the future. Kai, you could always posting an invite topic in the Ladies Lounge, assuming you have access there without having a Lady's Title Thingy. -

Historica Husbandry (Minichallenge)

Oh man, this totally made my day! First Lego contest I've ever been a winner in! Thank you so much SK and LJ for putting on this contest. There really were some awesome entries. Congratulations to the other winners! I was really excited because I felt like I made a build that actually had a chance in a contest for once. Then I saw your build(wedge's second build as well) and got really worried! Great builds from you guys, I think Avalonia definitely had the strongest presence in this contest!- 76 replies

I like the idea of greenhouses in Avalonia. Great idea and nice little build, though to my eye the fence looks too modern.

All your projects sound very interesting, and I look forward to seeing more. Phred, I love your idea of using the MMV buildings as a standard size building. I think I'll try the same at some point! Wow, I'm glad it was inspiring! That mini-build looks great!- 315 replies

Husbandry Challenge - Hidden Garden's Bakery
MiloNelsiano replied to Wedge09's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very pleasant build here. I like the interior a lot. I have to say tho, the bottom part of the building is a bit plain. A little more texturing here and there would prevent the gray wall syndrome. Otherwise very nice!- 10 replies

Looking forward to seeing them Bregir! Another chapter for Osric. -
Osric's Tale Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 When Osric emerged from a cave that seemed like it should be close to Osgard according to Mordred’s map, and he was able to recognize where he was, he almost couldn’t believe it. As he walked down towards the road that lead into Osgard, he reflected on his journey so far. He had had uncanny fortune, as if someone was guiding him along the way. He had gone on patrols through Oros and had much more trouble. Travelling through a war-torn Kaliphlin and Drow infested tunnels of Nocturnus without having much trouble was hard to believe. Osric soon reached the town of Osgard. He was overwhelmed with gladness as he tried to remember how long he had been gone on his journey. The guard at the gate recognized him and greeted him immediately. “You’ve returned,” he cried, “and not a moment too soon. The town was attacked by a sorcerer recently.” “How many casualties?” Osric asked, afraid to hear the answer. “None,” the guard said with a shrug. “He broke into the library and stole some book from a hidden section of the library the old Elf didn’t even know existed.” The old Elf he was referring to was Ilthulin, who was Oros’ Historian and served as an advisor to his Osric’s father, Lord Orys. “Your father’s there investigating the break-in as we speak.” Osric thanked the guard for his information and headed toward the library. As he walked his joy of being home quickly faded as he thought of how he would still have to leave to confront Daemeon, the sorcerer. He soon arrived at the library and found his father speaking to Ilthulin at a table near the center of the library. They both smiled when they saw Osric approaching and greeted him. “I’m glad you’ve returned,” his father said to him as they shook hands. “It’s very good to be home,” Osric answered, “but I wasn’t greeted with pleasant news.” “You’ve heard then,” Ilthulin began. “We have no idea who this sorcerer was, but he certainly knew what he was looking for. He opened a secret tunnel leading deep beneath the cellars to an old archive full of scrolls and tomes. A witness claims he saw the sorcerer leaving the building with just one book, though we cannot possibly know what the book contained. How he knew about the book or the room in which it was hidden I could not say, but I will say this: the other scrolls and tomes held within the room are ancient, many predate the history and knowledge I have learned from the elves.” “Did you learn anything of the chain you brought with you to Petraea?” His father asked him. Osric then explained all he had learned of the chain and the sorcerer who had forged it. Osric also told of the dispelling potion he received from the wizard Gregor, and the shield he had taken from the Drow warrior he had slain. Ilthulin examined the shield before declaring, “This shield certainly holds great magic. The extent of its abilities I could not say, but if the Drow said it repels magic then it’s most certainly able to do so. Whether it can deflect the magic, absorb it, or weaken it’s effect I do not know, but as with any magical item, it should be handled with caution.” “Cain and Jace were able to track the sorcerer and determine where he was headed. They followed him into Mitgardia. He seems to have a hideout in the mountains near Volhaal. They did not engage him as I ordered them not to. I was hoping you would return with information that we could use to our advantage, and you have. The three of you should leave immediately.” “I shall go alone,” Osric said. “Cain and Jace should wait and see if Ilthulin can discover anything else about the book that was taken or why the sorcerer took it. Should I fail they will need to succeed where I could not.” “Very well,” his father replied. “Though you must not fail. With all that you’ve acquired on your journey, you seem to have the best chance of success.” Osric resupplied and got his horse from the stables before saying goodbye to his father and leaving once again. Leaving home was more difficult this time, as he had been gone for several months and was only home for a few hours, and already he had to leave again. However, his journey did not have to be as long this time, and if he was able to succeed in the task at hand, he would be able to return and rest easy knowing his home was once again safe. Nothing too special with this build, just tried a new floor technique I've been wanting to do for a while. Building on top of the floor was not very easy as it was all crooked, so that lead to some challenges, but I'm generally satisfied with the result (not overly satisfied with the painting however, as my wife said it looks like something our 2 year old might have drawn ). Anyway, I think there will be three more chapters to this story before it's completely finished. Let me know what you think, and thanks for looking!

Husbandry Challenge: Arkbri Irrigation

Fantastic build all around! I really like the jagged edged base, and all the details, from the repaired wall, to the great looking crops and giant tree, it all looks amazing. Very nice work. P.S. It looks like you have too many goats, but I'd be willing to help you out and take some off your hands!- 31 replies

Great Build, inside and out! There's plenty of nice little details, and I like the little story. I keep expecting to see a blood or flesh farm out of you Nocturnians, but this is still good! -
A very pleasant scene with very nice landscaping! I'm also a big fan of this water style, I will have to try it myself sometime.

Fantastic work all of you. It really looks great and is packed full of details. When will your brother be joinin GoH? His citadel would fit quite nicely in Avalonia! Really excellent work, I hope to see more collaborations soon! -
Nice to see you're back full time. I really like that rock formation, and the bonus battle scene is pretty neat too. Looking forward to more!

Great entry with great humor! The shop looks much more finished than the last build you had it in, and I think I'll have to check back here once in a while for inspiration when I need to build some furniture.

A very informative entry! The build looks great, and you can really sense the atmosphere. The water is a good attempt, but it seems to fall short in comparison to the rest of the build.

The landscape is certainly nice, but I really enjoyed the posing during the battle. Very good build and lovely story writing!

Next chapter for Osric is up! -
Osric's Tale Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 As far as he could guess going by his map, Osric was near the Avalonian border when his supply of meat ran out. From there he would kill the occasional rat he would find in the cave to eat. He began to consider himself lucky, as he had not yet run into any Drow or anything else remotely dangerous. Soon thereafter, he heard speaking coming from further down the tunnel. Osric put out his torch and drew his sword before continuing silently toward the voice. As he approached, it seemed to be just one voice, complaining about others being late. Osric found a hiding place very near the dark figure from where the voice came and sat in wait. Although he thought he could probably sneak around the figure, if others were coming, he thought it safest to wait and see how many there were in total. His father had told him many times not to flee from a fight that must be fought, but also not to run into battle when it may be unnecessary. He sat waiting for close to an hour before he heard more voices approaching. With the voices he saw a light approaching. Finally the light reached the first shadowy figure and the light became brighter. Although he had never seen one before, Osric knew right away that the four figures that stood before him were Drow. The light that had approached was from the end of a staff that one of the Drow carried. He appeared to be a warlock, and two of the others seemed to be warriors, one of whom held a large Halberd, and the other had a small axe and shield. The fourth appeared a ranger and sounded as feminine Osric figured a Drow could sound. The warlock spoke first, addressing the Drow holding the Halberd, whom Osric now knew was the Drow that he had first heard. “Where are the others?” He asked. “They are gone. The elves in the village we attacked were skilled in magic, and we were quickly defeated. I was lucky to escape with my life.” “Fool!” replied the warlock. “You’re lucky I don’t take your life now! You will return with us. Meanwhile, I’ll send Zeva in your place. His shield can repel even the most powerful of magic. Our weak elven kin won’t stand a chance against him, with magic or without.” The Halberd wielding Drow grumbled a curse before leaving ahead of the others. The warlock turned to the shield wielding Drow and said, “Bring back the village elder for questioning, and kill the rest.” The other Drow answered, “For the Spire,” before warlock and the ranger turned to follow the first warrior down the corridor in the opposite direction from Osric. The shield wielding Drow watched the others leave and stood silently meditating for a few moments before turning and coming toward Osric. He wasn’t sure if one Drow could really take out an entire elven village or not, but the warlock’s confidence certainly did not comfort him. Osric crouched down and readied his sword. As the Drow walked by him, Osric thrust his sword into his throat, and he dropped to the ground gurgling silently. Osric considered the innocent Elves that he had hopefully saved by this murder before turning to leave. While turning, Osric remembered how the warlock mentioned that the shield this Drow carried could repel even the most powerful magic. Osric picked up the shield and carried it with him, hoping it might give him protection if he should have to face Daemeon, who had attacked Oros and sent him on this journey. A shot without the top to show the inside (a little bit) better. I thank everyone once again that gave me photography advice for this build. While I have every confidence you guys could have taken perfect pictures of this build, I was unable to. I tried lots of things, but these were the best pictures I could get before giving up. Anyway, I hope you can see it well enough. I hope you enjoy this chapter (although it certainly wasn't my favorite). Comments and Criticism is most welcome!
